thebigham
HITS: YOUR WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW: Heading into the weekend, we’re expecting a squeaker between Susan Boyle and Andrea Bocelli for next week's #1 album (never thought we’d ever be typing those words). Neither appear to be suffering from a Black Friday hangover, and either could win the race at this point. In fact, it's now a dead heat. Of the debuts this week, only R. Kelly will be 100k. Here's a look at the current leader board: Andrea Bocelli (Decca) 400-425k Susan Boyle (Columbia) 400-425k R. Kelly (Jive/JLG debut) 105-115k Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 100-110k Lady GaGa The Fame (Interscope) 80-85k Lady GaGa The Fame Monster (Interscope) 70-75k Norah Jones (Blue Note/EMI) 65-70k Twilight Saga: New Moon (Chop Shop/Atlantic) 60-65k Now 32 (Sony Music) 60-65k Carrie Underwood (19/Arista Nashville) 60-65k John Mayer (Columbia) 60-65k Josh Groban Noel (Reprise) 55-60k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 55-60k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 55-60k (12/4a)

Guest boytoyville
^ It would be awesome if Susan could pull out between 500-600k in her second week. Susan Boyle Queen of the 2009 US/UK charts!
Guest nothingfails0603
I think once the Xmas season dries up, Susan's album will fall quickly down the chart. She is something people are buying for their mothers and grandparents.

Guest boytoyville
I think once the Xmas season dries up, Susan's album will fall quickly down the chart. She is something people are buying for their mothers and grandparents. I don't think so. Yes it's a nice safe Christmas gift but people are fascinated by her story and mostly by her voice. People will continue to be interested in this debut album by her. The albums after this one who knows. I could also see it getting grammy nominations next year and accuring more sales next year also. It's Susans time to shine and it will continue through next year. I'm so happy for her and the album is FANTASTIC!

It's Susans time to shine and it will continue through next year. I'm so happy for her and the album is FANTASTIC! I would liken her album to Babs in the 1997 Xmas season. Higher Ground was a huge Xmas gift title and was a massive seller in late 1997, but as soon as the holidays were over the album quickly fell down the charts. SuBo is a Babs or Josh Groban type who is someone that a lot of people buy during Christmas but don't make the kind of music that sustains sales since there's no outlet for them... even AC prefers playing people like Kelly Clarkson and Daughtry to "real" AC acts nowadays. All you have to do is combine the sales from the EP and her re release to know her real sales which would be good enough to have kept her in the top 5. She'd be number 3 actually. I love all this praise of Susan Boyle from certain posters merely to spite she who shall remain nameless. What they seem to be overlooking is that Susan is on track to outsell EVERYONE in the U.S. this year. She already did on first week sales. So does this mean ALL U.S. artists this year are flops? Not to mention Susan appeals to OLDER people. The ones that still buy CDs. Getting your old fart parents Susan Boyle for christmas is a given this holiday season. Chimera
Gaga equals all hype and not much sales. Poor Shakira. It's too funny. Well, actually Gaga sold around 130 k combined but i do get your point. i bet all her hypers were expecting more than that, but her gambit was due to not be much of a deal anyway although being ALMOST A DAMN NEW ALBUM!!...plus she's not passed the number 4th spot in Billboard hot 200 thus far she has to wait for her next album...on the other hand she still makes it well in the singles area. Shakira's performace is pretty lower than what i would have expected too, before being released in the US i thought it was a flop but i was waiting to see the US numbers so now I do really feel it's a flop and it can be compared to Mariah's one, as both had a Hit lead single but lame lame album sales. HolidayGuy
The second-week hold for SuBo's album is nothing short of phenomenal. Coming off of one of the year's biggest sales weeks and topping 500K? Hopefully the SoundScan number will remain above 50K, too- it's great for the industry.
