Madonna & Lil Wayne set to shoot "Revolver" video in Sept.

We're talking about not one but 2 single tracks i.e. continuous success (IF anf ONLY IF). Just like Beautiful Stranger & American Pie, which appealed to different market.

I know there are two tracks.

What market does shit like Revolver appeal too?? Please don't compare it to a song as sublime as Beautiful stranger or a classic like American pie.

That demo is embarrassing as is, so i'm praying she majorly reworked it.

So lemme get this straight... someone wrote the song Revolver, got some unknown bitch to sing it, sent it to Madonna to record it with her own vocals - and now Lil Wayne is going to be in rapping in it and they will do a video together.

L-A-M-E

What a lazy and uninspired project. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come in the future.

You do realize many of Madonna songs were recorded this way right?? In fact I think one of the "unknown bitches" when Madonna heard Open Your Heart for the first time was Donna DeLory was it not?

One man's poison, may be the other's man meat.

BS may sounds sublime & AP sounds Classic to you but some, BS is fab & AP is shit (You'll be surprised there's tons of ppl on this board hated her AP version). To me, BS is mono shit but AP is fab.

Ok where was I? I'm talking about how she will definitely make her own version (Just like how she transformed boring country AP to refreshing techno AP) right instead of messing up to appeal to different market and make way for her 1st LN debut album whereas you're about the demo recorded by someone else.

Maybe you should listen to the her final version before replying to my post.

Songs get referred to singers all the time. That's just how the business works. "Papa Don't Preach," "Open Your Heart," "La Isla Bonita, " "Justify My Love," "Ray of Light" -- all presented to her from whoever. Not everything Madonna records was a scratch idea that started from her own brain. I'm sure after deciding to record "Revolver," Madonna added her own little tweaks to it to make it more her own.

Anyway, this is the song I'm holding out more hope for. I don't think "Celebration" is going to go over that well commercially.

What makes ppl think that Madonna will just record her vocal using the original production? Since when? Unless you are able to give us a good solid example otherwise you're not making sense.

She always revamp other ppl's production into something new e.g. IWY, ROL, AP, SNM.

Well, it just goes to show. I think "Revolver" - and granted, I'm only judging it from a demo, so this is all based on the assumption that Madonna's final version will resemble it - is a much better song than either "Beautiful stranger" (I simply can't listen to this without hearing the Love rip-off, try as I might) or "American pie." I don't think in terms of markets or sales potential or any of that stuff. I just know what hits the sweet spot for me. And so far "Revolver" rings cherries for me.

If you seriously think Revolver (based on that shitastic demo) is better in any possible way than Beautiful Stranger, then I really don't know what to say to you., besides....WOW.

Perhaps you should as well, since you haven't heard the final version either.

My posts in this thread are in reference to that horrific demo. Hopefully her version is a major redo.

"Beatiful stranger" is just lazy and half-assed to me. It's a Frankenstein's monster of tepid pop psychedelia cliches, with a completely non-committal vocal performance tossed limply on top. It's too mannered to be sexy, and too self-conscious to be joyous. The drum sample gets put to much better use in "Amazing," and the chorus hook is better in Love's "She comes in colours."

Whereas "Revolver" has some sass and attitude, and more hooks than a tacklebox.

It's just an opinion.

'Celebration' is her catchiest song since 'Hung Up'..the only place it could/would flop is US and obviously because it is very euro dance for the US charts....anywhere else it will be HUGE

A wait and see or rather hear attitude should be applied here, I mean for crying out loud no one has heard the actual song or rather Madge's version of the song. I'm sure she definitely will not settle for just the demo version.

After all is said and done the song would have been transformed into, Well a signature Madonna song. This is just like celebration its being lambasted criticized and cursed all because a dub version had been leaked and now majority is singing a different tune from their earlier pronouncements although there are still some who hate it.So why not wait for it this could be a potential killer of a song hehehe

The only reason it would flop in US is the lack of radio support. US radio has not supported Madonna since American Life.

You're entitled not to like Beautiful Stranger but how can you say its half assed? Sure it steals from another song (I personally don't mind when she does that) but it was the perfect song for her at the time and I thought the instrumental was incredibly sexy and totally went with the film without being corny. The lyrics were cute too.

I enjoy Revolver because it is catchy, not because it's anything I get wowed about. It's very likely to be laughed at by people for being sung by a 51 year old woman. At least Beautiful Stranger was sexy - and she didn't even have to try.

See, I didn't find it sexy in the least. And in addition to the half-assed construction, the final sound was unfinished to me. It sounded like there were big gaping holes in the sound, like the mixing desk got screwed up on the final pass. Also...well, it was for an Austin Powers movie.

And there are people who will laugh at anything a 51-year-old woman sings that isn't jazz, folk or standards. Oh well - their loss!

Will definitely ait to see what she does with the track- hope it's not just her throwing her vocals over the already existing demo recording.

RE BStranger- it's a fun song. I enjoy it- in regards to the lifting from another song- there's only so much you can do with 60s'-sounding psychadelia. Actually, if we want to go back even further, couldn't we say that tat Love song ripped a little from The Doors' "Light My Fire"? (that is, if it came after the Doors- not sure off-hand).

Side note: BStranger received a decent share of acclaim, something that what some think is Madge's Greatest Song of the 21st Century did not. ;) (that was a third single, though, so that could affect things like that- but, still).

At least it didn't sound like everything else on the radio. This.... Revolver.. I can't tell the difference between it and all the other crap that gets played on the radio these days. I already forgot how it goes - so much for being catchy. From what I remember it sounded like something the unknown bitch who sings the demo would release as her debut single. At least back in the day when Madonna just incorporated other people's music she had some taste.
