There are still at least 41 shows remaining to be reported to Billboard Boxscore over the next few months. When the tour is over, the cumulative gross and attendance of the entire tour shall be colossal. This tour is on track to easily SMASH the grosses and attendance figures for each tour Madonna has previously done, including Madonna's record-breaking 2006 Confessions Tour which was the highest grossing and most successful tour ever for a female artist. Mr Ciccone
So for 3 consecutive tours, the only non sell-out shows have been the ones that were added to the schedule at a much later date than the rest. Slane > RIT Prague > CT Seville > S&S (so far)
Guest northernlad
This raises an interesting point in that, as we've established, a sellout is pre-determined by LN. What about the tickets that are sold beyond the sellout figure? Are those dollar values included in the total gross (we can't check, since it's impossible to know the number of tickets sold in each individual price category)? The numbers clearly aren't, and it's possible that the media is working with info provided by the venue, which would be different to the info provided by LN. While Dusseldorf was listed as a sellout with 35k, it's easily possible that there were 38k people at the concert, since they would have put more tickets on sale once their original sellout figure of 35k had been reached. The same goes for Cardiff. Tickets were still available up until the day of the concert, so having an extra 7000 people in the stadium is definitely possible. What this means is that the attendance figures quoted by Boxscore are the absolute minimum, and it's pretty much a given that every show had more people in the audience. You're really jumping the gun here. There's a much simpler explanation - the media is reporting total expected attendance, whereas Billboard is reporting total paid-attendance. mtzlplk
Amazing numbers!!! The detractors will be disappointed, since they have nothing to bash Madonna for today you'll never know, Burchill might emphasize that she is now done... for she haven't sold out in Seville, Spain
Carta
I'm not jumping any guns. Where does the "total expected attendance" figure come from? Who makes up these numbers? Why did the German press have a total of 38 000 for the Dusseldorf concert when over 40 000 people attended the CT in the same venue (i.e. why 38k and not 40k)? Whose expectations are they? So many questions
HolidayGuy
In cases lik this, you can't go by media gossip- any chance for some to get a negative spin (especially related to Madonna), you know they're gonna jump on it.

Bill
all this discussion about ticket sales. Does Madonna always have to be #1 at everything? Aren't we tired enough of disappointments that we can lower our expectations a little?

mtzlplk
EUROPE: 116 MILS NORTH AMERICA: 120 MILS SOUTH AMERICA: 110 MILS hmm... she did 17 dates in EUROPE... going to do 30 in NORTH AMERICA (but some are arenas but some posters here say that US tickets are priced higher than European ones)... then 11 all stadium gigs in SOUTH AMERICA, she's safely in the $300M minimum with this tour... SHE'S ALWAYS THE ENVY OF TOURING ARTISTS/DIVAS uhm... I wonder how much will go to LIVE NATION's coffers and MADONNA's... I mean, this has justified the $120M 10-year contract right? Raider of the lost Ark
yeah. just the first leg of this tour already paid off the U$120 million contract. She could have asked far more! Not really. LN only gets a small percentage of the revenues from ticket sales. Madonna gets the biggest chunk of it.

Guest aramis
SHE'S ALWAYS THE ENVY OF TOURING ARTISTS/DIVAS uhm... I wonder how much will go to LIVE NATION's coffers and MADONNA's... I mean, this has justified the $120M 10-year contract right? Under the terms of the proposed ten-year deal with Live Nation, Madonna would reportedly receive an advance payment of about $18 million and advance payments for the rights to sell three albums in a range of $50-$60 million. In addition, Madonna is expected to receive $50 million in cash and stock from Live Nation for the right to promote her concert tours. Income from licensing ventures including the use of Madonna's name on products and merchandise would be divided evenly with Live Nation. However, under the terms of the deal, Madonna would reportedly receive ownership of her three Live Nation albums after a certain period. Guest northernlad
Why did she choose Cardiff to open this tour? She should have gone to Sidney or Tokyo, but Cardiff?! Well it ain't easy to book a venue for an entire month of rehearsals - why do you think they chose that giant outhouse in LA to open RIT & CT.
