Bitch
landing in the Guinness Book of World Records . Confessions of a Dance Floor has been #1 in 40 countries, "Hung Up" has been #1 in 41 countries, with both of those statistics being records. That's the first time someone has stated that COADF was #1 in 40 countries, it's always was 29 countries in all the articles I've seen. Can you provide a link to that info? thebigham
Billboard.biz: Madonna Extends Euro Chart Reign May 15, 2008 - Global By Paul Sexton, London Madonna starts a second week at the helm of both Billboard's pan-European sales charts, securing a fourth week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles with "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake, and a second atop European Top 100 Albums with "Hard Candy." The album loses top spot in seven of the ten European markets in which it debuted at No. 1 last week (the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden). But it continues to reign for a second week in Germany, Holland and Denmark, and a third in France, and adds a No. 2 debut in Hungary. Duffy's "Rockferry" (A&M/Universal) is at No. 2 again overall, ascending to the top of the Swedish chart, 2-1, and climbing 4-3 in France, 5-4 in Switzerland and 7-6 in Germany. The single "Mercy" holds at No. 2 on the Eurochart, ringing up a fifth week at No. 1 in Austria. The next release from the album, "Warwick Avenue," is up 29-17 in the United Kingdom. Amy Winehouse rebounds once again, 4-3 on Top 100 Albums, with the indestructible "Back To Black" (Universal Island). The deluxe edition climbs 13-11 in the United Kingdom and the regular version moves 4-2 in Germany and 3-2 in Holland, behind Madonna in both cases. It also improves 8-4 in Greece, 6-4 in Portugal and 12-10 in Spain. Also on Universal Island, Portishead's "Third" falls 4-3 on the pan-European chart. It recedes from last week's debut positions in the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, France and Italy, but climbs 4-3 in the Belgian region of Flanders and debuts at No. 3 in Greece. The highest new entry on the Europe-wide album chart is veteran German techno band Scooter's "Jumping All Over The World," at No. 5. Released in the United Kingdom via dance indie All Around The World's album distribution deal with Universal Music TV, it springs a big surprise there by entering at No. 1 (Scooter's first in the territory) on sales of 33,000. The group also rises 17-8 in Germany with the single "I'm Lonely." It's a stellar week for AATW/UMTV in the U.K. market, where the compilation "Clubland Classics: The Album of Your Life" tops the separate compilation chart for a fifth straight week, on sales of 21,000. Three long-running titles jockey for position in the pan-European album top ten. Leona Lewis' "Spirit" (Syco Music/Sony BMG) is back up 7-6, R.E.M.'s "Accelerate" (Warner Bros.) falls 5-7 despite a 6-1 rise in Greece, and Amy Macdonald's "This Is The Life" (Vertigo/Universal) is up 9-8. Macdonald's debut set will be released Aug. 19 in the U.S. by Decca. Ich + Ich, the combination of Germany musicians Annette Humpe and Adel Tawil, climbs 17-9 on Top 100 Albums with "Vom Selben Stern" (Polydor/Universal). The album has been a top ten fixture for the entire year to date in Germany, where this week it climbs back 5-3. Rounding out the European top ten is the Last Shadow Puppets' "The Age of the Understatement" (Domino), which is down 6-10 in its third week, declining 3-6 in Spain and 4-6 in the United Kingdom. Madonna's "4 Minutes" retains its Eurochart supremacy with the help of a No. 1 debut in Greece, 2-1 climbs in Spain and Norway, and continuing reigns in the United Kingdom (on total sales of 245,000, according to the Official U.K. Charts Company), Denmark, Switzerland, Finland and both Flanders and neighboring Wallony.
