Guest Hafo Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Ah, true. I tend to erase Oasis from my collective chart memories, dunno why
seanster Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 From UKMIx: In November 2006, The OCC revealed the UK's Top 100 Best Selling Albums. also worth noting from same post: #064 True Blue (1,961,164) #101 Ray Of Light (1,677,925) #109 Like A Virgin (1,626,126)
Guest Beautiful Stranger Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 So with record club sales LAV is eligible for 6x Platinum?
Guest Hafo Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Maybe. TB is 7xP with sales as above, so we could estimate perhaps 100K club sales for LAV (very hard to predict though!) LAV should be at least 5xP instead of the 3xP it is now
Guest Beautiful Stranger Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Just like how Madonna / The First Album should be 3x Platinum instead of Platinum.
HolidayGuy Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I think the figures at the time were 4m USA and 3.3m outside of it- with the updated 5m cert, that would be 8.3 million. But, I'd think closer to 9m.
doctorjosh Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 also worth noting from same post: #064 True Blue (1,961,164) #101 Ray Of Light (1,677,925) #109 Like A Virgin (1,626,126) "Music" would be close to ROL and LAV too. I remember latest sales figures for "Music" being around the 1.6 million mark too. I wonder where LAP sits...
Brisy_Boy Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Madonna is going to do better with TIC next year with the new album release. Who knows if she gets even higher on this chart
Guest Hafo Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 TIC sold 61K on UK last year: UK Top 40 Best Selling Catalogue Albums of 2007 1. 37.(position on overall artist album chart) Amy Winehouse – Frank *341,436 2. 39. Queen Bitch Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 It was a LEAN year for TIC last year. I wonder how many it's sold this decade.
Guest Hafo Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 We know this: 2002: 110.000 (est) 2003: 100.000 (est) 2004: 115.000 2005: 58.000 (est) 2006: 174.000 2007: 61.000 Total: 618.000 Add perhaps another 250K minimum for 2000 and 2001, and we got at least 850K copies.
Queen Bitch Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 2006: 174.000 I didn't know it did that well in 2006. I seem to recall it having really good sales in the early part of the decade so the estimate for 2000-2001 could be in excess of 300,000. All I can say is POOR GHV2 if its predecessor ends up outselling it this decade
HolidayGuy Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 TIC had higher UK numbers than USA numbers in 2006, but it reverted back to lower for 2007. The 174K figure for 06 was pretty darn impressive!
doctorjosh Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Bring on the 14th platinum cert for TIC in the UK, I say!!

I remember it was top 75 for the year in 2000 on around 150-200k!

Guest Hafo Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I got it by e-mail, but I think there's a thread in UKMix with this info.

promise to try Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I´m still surprised with Phil Collins´ sales: wow.i know he used to be popular, but he´s really and impressive seller!
loomer Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 How much has TIC sold if you add record club sales? It is over 4 million, right? I'm still annoyed that countdown ignored those. The RIAA don't. But I never thought they were as high in the UK too.
loomer Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 TIC should jump over Jacko's 2 albums some time next year. Although Thriller is re-released, probably it will count as a separate edition for charting purposes. You think? With their convoluted logic with Queen's GH, counting 1/3 of the Platinum Collection to its sale therefore making it the all time no 1, I wouldn't be surprised if Thriller 25 was added to the original sales. At least that has a more valid case than the Queen. But then in some ways it makes sense, cause most people who bought Queen's Platinum Collection would be interested in Greatest Hits I and II, hardly any would care about the offcuts of GH 3. People were really buying the same album all over again.
Guest Hafo Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Queen is still a mystery being discussed But no, Thriller 25 was considered a different album because of those (awful) remixes and duets. I just think all those re-releases are quite pointless, but that's a cheap and quick way for labels to generate extra money. Hopefully we'll be able to know/calculate TIC sales for 2008. Don't think they'll be too stellar.
loomer Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Queen is still a mystery being discussed It is? I'm not surprised. I know people were outraged on UKMix. It was such a letdown considering how long we waited.
Guest Hafo Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 OCC just changed the rules and now different editions of the same album are being counted as one From Haven Forums: Yes, The OCC have now added approximately 240,000 Sales for 'Thriller 25' to those of the original 'Thriller'. They'll carry on adding their Sales together in the Future, as well as the 2 versions of the Amy Winehouse Album. WELL REALLY.
Braby Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 OCC just changed the rules and now different editions of the same album are being counted as one From Haven Forums: Yes, The OCC have now added approximately 240,000 Sales for 'Thriller 25' to those of the original 'Thriller'. They'll carry on adding their Sales together in the Future, as well as the 2 versions of the Amy Winehouse Album. WELL REALLY. UNFAIR. Thriller 25 is essentially a new album, what with all the new tracks and remixes. This means record companies can re-release and repackage albums to prop up sales, as in the case of Winehouse and Leona Lewis. The general public are too thick to realise they are essentially buying the same album with a few sub-par "new" tracks.
