Oh Father

Promise to Try

In This Life

Inside of Me (only learned recently this song is about her mother)

Live to Tell (I know it's not that sad, but the overall feel of the song pulls on my heartstrings)

Like A Flower, at least for me. Losing someone you loved so dearly, and trying to save what's left of them inside of you by holding on to that pain...

Also Gone Gone Gone. Absolutely gut wrenching vocals. ROL is not my favourite album at all, but it's hard to deny the way it affects your emotional state, even the unreleased tracks.

"Promise To Try" is sad and exquisite. Simple without dipping into the melodrama some of the other songs are prone to.

Oh Father. 89 was the year my Mom and Dad divorced. He left to live with another woman.

I used to listen to that song everyday.

I still do listen to it. Love it.

the same for me, even though most of the "Like a Prayer" songs were my soundtrack at that moment of my life

'Til Death do us apart'.... Do I have to say why?

The Like A Prayer LP is a bit of a downer, init?

When I was a very little kid, I used to sing along to "Oh Father" at the top of my lungs while crying. It was cathartic and, in retrospect, embarrassing.

Nobody's Perfect - Drowned World Tour version

The ending of the LP version still kills me 14 years later.
