I can't stand the album version, but every live performance is amazing and she really, clearly, deeply understands and loves the song. It works brilliantly in every incarnation, every reimagining. It's a testament to great writing but also to M's relationship to it as well. I also love the way the song has gained it's own mythology. I am still in awe of the way the MDNA performance used the power of the previous performances of the song to subvert M's iconography and present her in a new light.
