thebigham
HITS: WEAKEND UPDATE: The KISS Wal-Mart exclusive, Sonic Boom, which got off to a fast start, is now cooling off considerably, with first-week estimates now in the 120-125k range, which does seem to put them in the lead for their first-ever #1 debut. Still, in its first day on the street, Reprise's Michael Buble is off to a good start with an Oprah appearance later today expected to fuel sales over the weekend. Can the crooner break 100k? Can he catch KISS? Who do we look like, Nostradamus? YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10(ISH) CHART PREVIEW: Here’s the prospective leader board for next Tuesday—minus the X-factor, Michael Buble, whose new LP comes out today in conjunction with his Oprah appearance. Next week’s double-dippers appear at this point to be Hollywood and Jive/JLG; otherwise, things are spread out pretty evenly. * KISS (Kiss) 150-160k * Toby Keith (Showdog) 80-90k Barbra Streisand (Columbia) 65-70k Jay-Z (Roc Nation/Atlantic) 55-60k Mariah Carey (Island/IDJ) 55-60k * Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 40-45k Paramore (Fueled by Ramen) 40-45k Miley Cyrus (Hollywood) 40-45k * Backstreet Boys (Jive/JLG) 40-45k Breaking Benjamin (Hollywood) 40-45k * Relient K (Jive/JLG) 40-45k Pearl Jam (Monkeywrench) 35-40k Alice in Chains (Virgin) 35-40k * Denotes debut We’ll give you a preliminary idea how Buble fits into this picture later today. thebigham
HITS: POST-WEAKEND CHART UPDATE: The smoke has cleared, revealing that Michael Buble’s Friday release on Reprise will be #1 by a mile. Our preliminary projection on the Canadian crooner is 125-130k, while KISS’ Wal-Mart exclusive is headed toward 104-105k. The final numbers will magically appear some time tomorrow. Guest SuperBriGuy
Yup. This is you alright. Has beens. LORD, this is sad. I remember how years ago a record wouldn't even have to peak in the top FIFTY and they could still sell 500,000 to 1,000,000 albums if their sales were steady enough. Now it's not even a guarantee that you'll be able to sell that much by debuting in the top ten. So sad.

thebigham
Don't tell Mimi that. She might have another "breakdown"... The 37% reporting chart is a complete waste of time. It's not even worth looking at it. Album positions and sales will change greatly before the final chart.
HolidayGuy
Last week at 36%, Celebration was at 16,326, and then jumped to 38,040 at 57%. While you cannot really go by that, that kind of trend wuld indicate a finish in the 23K-24K range this week (dropping around 67%, which is expected). SoundScan numbers were 1,800+ higher than HITS, so the SS decrease could be ever-so-slightly higher (if the numbers end up similar between the two). doctorjosh
Yikes! 220k after 2 weeks. Poor Mimi...if she thought things could not get worse after "Glitter"... Madonna seems to have held on better than expected given what her early numbers on HITS looked like. I'm hoping SS numbers are higher and is enough to stay in the top 20 on Billboard. Wow. Paramore took a real beating!!
