HITS:

THANKGIVING WEEK IS RIGHT! Remember when the Top 10 contained nothing but records in six figures? Next week, for the first time in a dog’s age, it could happen again, so cross your fingers and pray to the God of Charts.

Here’s how things are shaping up going into the weekend: #1: Alicia Keys (J/RMG), 600-625k; #2: Josh Groban (Reprise), 250-275k; #3: Eagles (self-release) 215-225k; #4: Celine Dion (Columbia), 195-205k ; #5: Now 26 (EMM), 190-200k.

#6: Garth Brooks (Pearl), 180-190k; #7: Carrie Underwood (Arista/RMG), 120-125k; #8: Jay-Z (Roc-A-Fella/IDJ), 120-125k; and fighting it out for #9 are Chris Brown (Jive/ZLG) and Led Zeppelin (Rhino/Atlantic), with both trending toward 100-105k. (11/16a)

Almost as shocking as HotMessney underperforming. Dion had lots of promotion, Spears had lots of publicity (no such thing as bad publicity, remember!) But, Spears did do decently in digital sales at least, whereas Dion hasn't (but she will crack the Hot 100 this week, thanks to the promo and album release).

Led Zeppelin's is a physical CD, yoo, not just digital, correct?

You are so loonish with your Britney hating, Jimi! :gent:

As are you with your Kylie bitching.

And as for Celine's performance. I think those numbers are not a surprise at all. She has her fans of course but she's not a radio darling any longer by any stretch of the mile. I mean her last true hit single was about 8 years ago. If "Taking Chances" had been a huge hit and was burning up the charts prior to the album release then I would've expected higher album sales.

I did notice though that "Taking Chances" has slowly been moving up on the Itunes chart and is currently at #21 on their Top 100 songs. Will it finally break in to the Billboard Hot 100 this week?

Duran may do better when the finals happen. Remember they haven't really had a "hit" album since The Wedding Album in 93. Pop Trash only got to #135 or so if I recall, plus it's a big sales week.

I'm surprised at Celine's flop, but not at the same time.

The Eagles are still on the top 3 and selling over 200 000. It may be the biggest selling album of 2007 if it continues like this.

And Britney still dropping.... :lmao: luckily for her the album has been released just before Xmas, but even so... she may struggle to sell over 1 million

HITS:

I AM... IT IS: Thanks to some blanket TV advertising and a series of TV performances, including last night's AMAs, Alicia Keys' critically praised new J/RMG album, As I Am, will debut at #1 tomorrow with sales topping 700k and approaching 720k, which is more than estimated.

Here’s how things are shaping up for tomorrow's Top 10: #2: Josh Groban (Reprise), 230k; #3: Celine Dion (Columbia), 206k; #4: Now 26 (EMM), 202k; #5: Garth Brooks (Pearl), 200k; #6: Eagles (self-release), 185k; #7: Led Zeppelin (Rhino/Atlantic), 134k; #8: Jay-Z (Roc-A-Fella/IDJ), 120k; #9: Carrie Underwood: (Arista Nashville); and 10) Chris Brown (Jive/ZLG) 100k. No hating, AJ, just statin' da truth. :)

A big radio hit isn't needed to sell mucho albums- Eagles a prime example- Norah Jones, another. So, I don't think that's a reason For Dion's lesser sales. And, yah, "Taking Chances" should debut on the Hot 100 this week- it had the expected boost from the album release.

The Dixie Chicks have sold more than 2.3 million with only 1 single and no radio support whatsoever. True than they had very successful albums in the past.

I think that music that are targeted for adults such as Norah, Eagles, Dixie Chicks and even Celine Dion don't need radio support so desperately as teenage acts.

The only country in which Celine's album may open at #1 is Canada!

And France? Isn't she like HUGE there?
