Yes, so many go down the rabbit hole so completely, they are lost down there looking for carrots.  I spoke to a friend who was briefly going down that path because of others she was hanging around with and she said she looks back now and shudders at how she was bombarded with false information and demands by them. Now is embarrassed she flirted with those ideas.  Luckily she moved away from them and got her senses back. It is frightening to talk to people and realise that they truly believe crazy stuff that is like a twisted twilight zone alternative reality.

Oh, I'm glad your friend was able to walk away from the precipice! It can take constant attention to stay on a path of common sense; people who are otherwise decent aren't impervious to being impressionable. A friend of a friend is pretty far gone and the challenge has been not to condescend, but it's scary how quickly the echo chambers they enter stop these people from thinking rationally or employing their mental faculties at all. I guess part of the appeal is it projects meaning into their lives, giving them what feel like causes.

  2. I hope the madness the Trump presidency gave rise to will force American policymakers on both sides of the aisle to renegotiate parts of the Constitution that may well have worked 100+ years ago but that are no longer able to be reconciled with where we've been or are headed. A lot is outmoded.

  3. It feels insurmountable. What do you do? People can't behave as they like with impunity, but facing the consequences of their actions makes these clueless malefactors feel they're paying some price for being right, which so often propels them and their kind into further and more deranged delusions and unwavering devotions. They're irredeemable. But it's so insidious and malignant that stamping it out seems only to increase it.

Biden's in an unenviable position but I hope his presidency will be effective, somehow.

is there an heterosovercovid? now that account would have millions of posts

Yeah. This happens and I've observed it with gays I know, but propagating notions about homos being hedonistic and selfish gets a bit tired when you see the behaviour everywhere.

Thanks @pithy ! I felt lucky when I was reading what happened to @promise to try...
Must say I'm twice as careful now. I'm really afraid to catch it once again.

No kidding. And to think @promise to try survived COVID only to be bombarded with Mariah gifs from a sadistic @horn, as if the virus wasn't horrific enough.

But seriously, I hope everyone will manage to stay safe and ultimately be well.

  6. Can never afford to take a thing for granted - who's to say I'd even get beyond the acute phase? - but I think I'm most fearful of potential long-term effects; it's very odd how it acts out so differently in people, in some cases for months and months.

Hope you'll be running soon, @runa. 🏃‍♂️ (or 🏃‍♀️, depending on your preferred sportswear!) Thrilled you're generally feeling quite a lot better.

He made close to 300 mill for "legal fees" since 3rd of November and has spends like 10 mill for it. In small letters it is written that the money could be used pretty much as he pleases. Its a scam to make money and he is of course never admitting his loss.

Exactly. He's playing to a particular audience and cashing in on those people's foolishness at the expense of democracy, because nothing matters but him. A place at Mar-a-Lago is honestly a fate too good. Hope he'll suffer.
