Emma Gonzalez is getting schooled a lot on Twitter not only by Madonna fans but also gun control groups that applaud Madonna’s video. Hopefully it sinks that Madonna is an ally and doesn’t deserve the ignorant gross misinterpretation she tweeted. She should tweet a retraction!

I saw her tweets as I was walking into the gym this morning to do a boxing class. I couldn't honestly believe what she wrote - how misinformed is that? It would seem she didn't even watch the video based on her tweets. And let's acknowledge, this video was not made for people that have experienced gun violence first hand. Those people (Emma included) know the horrors only too well and don't need to see it again in a video like this. It was made for the general voting public and for people in positions of power to help enact sensible changes to gun laws to help protect citizens in the US from gun violence.

I have followed her for awhile and these comments make me question what she is really about. Anyways, I had a good class, imagining her face on the punching bag.

    Her guards are ARMED

I've seen this argument quite a few times from Madonna haters and NRA types in the comments sections of some of the articles that have come out today after the video premiered.

With literally 1 minute of critical thinking it is obvious that this is just an absurd argument to try to label Madonna as a hypocrite. Having armed security guards that are protecting their client from harm is in no way contradictory to seeking improved laws to manage who can own a gun and when, how guns should be stored/protected so they don't get into the wrong hands (innocent children or malicious criminals) and what types of guns and gun equipment can be purchased (i.e gun CONTROL).

Mac Miller seems out of place indeed but Avicii I understand totally.  She worked with him,  created great songs with him and would feel great sadness about his death.

yeah that is true. Mac Miller on the other hand....

Erk, namedropping people like Bowie and Prince in one breath and Avicii and Mac Miller in another sounds a bit cringe...I mean, god rest all their souls but some of these things are not like the others.

ikr - she names legend after legend and then near the end Avicii and Mac Miller??? Every time i hear it, they just seem so out of place - still love the song anyway

Well she partnered with artists who had very big streaming  numbers -- Maluma, Quavo, Swae Lae.  Obviously it didn't really work, but at least I personally really like all the songs.

I do like the features on this album, but if the intent was to include these artists with big streaming numbers to hook a streaming/chart hit, then the results show it didn't work in the slightest.

If M wants to do collaborations for artistic purposes in the future she should go right ahead, but there should be no illusions that this is a route to streaming/chart success.

If she really really wants a chart hit, then the only way any more is probably as a feature on a single of a big streaming artist.

    Wednesday Update: Top 5 Albums
    1 Bruce Springsteen - Western Stars (44,139) *
    2 Madonna - Madame X (24,038) *
3 Lewis Capaldi - Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish (16,734)
    4 Bastille - Doom Days (13,782) *
    5 Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures (7,383) *

damn - disappointing sales for M in the U.K. I fear in Australia she is going to chart even lower and with weak sales.

And the album is going to drop fast too as there is no airplay or performances to keep it afloat, which is such a shame given how great it is

So a Hot 100 #1 is not necessarily predicted? Sorry, I really can’t get my head around the US chart system....

Anyway, have just checked Kworb and Madame X has fallen to #3, below the Jonas Bros!

She’ll get #1 on the pure sales chart in the US, but it isn’t guaranteed on the Sales plus Streaming (SPS) chart which is the main one Billboard promotes these days

  8. HITS Daily has listed their sales predictions for M and Bruce in the US. M’s sales are the same as previously reported, while Bruce’s are a little higher than before but still way below M. Note that the #1 they mention M is looking at is for sales only, not SPS. Jonas Brothers is still a big threat to hold #1 on SPS. Should be a full top 20 sales estimate from them on Wed or Thurs.

They are reporting the same 16k sales gap between Bruce and M in the UK btw....

    US

All indicators point to a #1 debut for Madonna on this week's HITS Top50. With a ticket bundle and D2C offerings fueling half of the opening total, expect Madame X to give Madge her first #1 since 2012's MDNA.

    (UPDATED) Early reads:

Madonna (Live Nation/Maverick/Interscope) 90-100k total activity, 85-95k album
    Bruce Springsteen (Columbia) 55-60k, 50-55k

    UK

Bruce Springsteen currently heads the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Western Stars (Columbia) sitting 16k combined sales ahead of Madonna at the halfway stage. Over on singles, new entries from Little Mix and Taylor Swift shake up the Top 5.

Should Springsteen hold onto his lead by Friday, Western Stars will be his 11th #1 in the U.K. Madonna sits behind at #2 with Madame X (Polydor), which looks set to reach the same peak its predecessor, Rebel Heart, achieved in 2015.  British band Bastille start at #3 with their third album, Doom Days (Virgin EMI), while a 40th anniversary reissue of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures (Rhino) is also new at #5.
