  1. ^ Appreciate the suggestion, friends, but I am not paying for Spotify, sorry. I will save my dollars for Madonna.

Free trials are always a little annoying, too, because you have to remember to cancel, or they start charging you.

And by the way, I never complained about advertising. I’m complaining about not being able to listen to the music I want to listen to. That’s the whole reason I downloaded the app — for Madonna. Not for an old Toni Braxton remix. (Again, no disrespect to her.) I heard commercials earlier today and that didn’t bother me. I accept they have to pay the bills somehow. But I was at work, using my own data plan to stream, and I couldn’t even listen to the new song more than once from Spotify. So I’m grateful for YouTube.

  2. Okay, I know I risk sounding like a curmudgeon, but ... really, I have tried with this streaming stuff. I have found listening on YouTube to be the simplest way to hear the song I want to hear (Medellín) immediately. Spotify is annoying — it made me listen to a Grace Jones song before Medellín, and then, after I created a playlist with Medellín and some other Madonna tracks, it added a bunch of other songs I don’t want to listen to. And there’s no way to skip them. It remembers where I am on the playlist if I leave it and come back. The official Madonna Medellín playlist is supposed to be all Madonna songs (starting with the new single, ending with BIM) — and Spotify is playing an HQ2 remix of a Toni Braxton song.

I don’t mean any disrespect to Ms. Jones or Ms. Braxton, btw! But there is a new Madonna single out — that’s what I want to listen to.

I have been trying to listen through streaming so that I help her numbers somewhat (even though I know *all* of my plays won’t count — lol!) .... but really, my experience today makes me want to just listen to the iTunes download. If I wanted to be forced to listen to things I don’t want to hear, I’d turn on the radio...?

Sorry for sounding spoiled. Rant over.

It's not necessary to pre save and even less through a external site that seems to ask for your data?????

If you follow Madonna in Spotify, once you open the app and the song is available it will pop up and you can listen to it!

    ugh.

I just signed up for Spotify because of this release, and I did this. There was a URL at the end where they said you could change this at any time, but I can’t get the URL to work now. I looked in the Spotify settings and I can’t find it either. I just didn’t understand how this app works.

I agree — it was unsettling to say “sure, Universal Music Group can access all this info and make changes to my account” ...

I was just trying to help M. I’d rather download it once and play it on repeat that way — but was hoping to help her more this way.

If anyone knows how to undo this stupid mistake, please let me know.

Don't worry darling! You still can follow "Swept Away" blu-ray release on 22 April 2019 and won't miss the window and time is just right! :horn:

Haha! :chuckle: Isn’t that only in the UK? I’m not sure it would play in my player. (Different regions? Is that still a thing?)

I would probably buy the Blu-ray of “Swept Away” just for that fantasy sequence of “Come on’a My House” with the acid yellow Versace dress. Best moment in the movie. (Also the behind-the-scenes doc is cute and funny sometimes.)

It is supposed to be on all streaming platforms tomorrow as well

    Hope so! Thanks!

Peter, there was a preorder link posted last night where you could register for the preorder of Medellín and the people who registered suddenly had the complete deluxe album preview in their iTunes or Spotify files. That’s where the tracklisting and album cover comes from. But you could only see this after registering and now this promotion is expired. We assume it wasn’t supposed to be out there in the first place, is was only out for 30-60 mins, as I remember.

Thanks so much, @Lolo! Disappointed I missed the window, but ... hopeful it’ll still be there when the time is right!

I finally made it through this thread. (Who needs sleep?)

Still could be changes to the tracklist, too... Remember MDNA had some with the bonus tracks (deluxe vs standard, rather) — and even RH dropped Queen after it was published. So all hope is not lost for some of the expected tracks that are missing now. (Could be B-sides that might be released with later singles to attract later downloads to help w/ charts?

It was briefly in iTunes. It's legit.

Madonna posted a story in Instagram with the countdown. The song will be in Spotify. Don't know about the video.

Thanks for the recap, Karbs... xo. (I can’t see the IG stories — so that’s how I missed it, I guess. This era is gonna be tough for the non-early adopters of technology...)

  7. Wait. I am so confused.

I was traveling this weekend, so I get back to work Tuesday and work until it is Wednesday — just got home and it is 2 AM and I find this exciting news — but this thread is 23 pages! And what I don’t understand is that I checked her effing IG today and watched the quick clip — there is no reveal or info about this on her IG. What is the deal?! How is this out (tracklist and album cover) and I (a true blue fan whi is scrambling like crazy to keep up) cannot find this info? Sorry to be a downer, but that doesn’t seem right. Was there an error that this was revealed before the event tomorrow?

And speaking of tomorrow, can we tune in on mtv.com or ... what. The IG post has the times, but not the details on where to see it. (I know supposedly “MTV” but ... like, cable? Or Internet? Or some social media channel of theirs?)

  8. I was traveling today and saw this on television screens at the airport. Truly heartbreaking to see. Grateful no lives were lost, if that is accurate.

Still, spiritually and emotionally, these are difficult images to absorb.

(No, I’m not French, I’ve never been to France, unfortunately ... and I’m not Catholic, although I am Christian. And it still affected me deeply. So I know there are plenty more folks who are feeling this loss on a profound level, even more so than me.)

funnily enough, i think it's a reference to the fact that he's always smoking (i bet she doesn't like it)

but is he playing that vogue maxi single or is it M's new record...?

1 minute ago, Alain Delon said:

Def looks like a brand new demo record to me. Maybe she just gave him a signed copy of Vogue for the occasion?

Well, even *he* used “X” in his post!! And the label on that vinyl doesn’t look like a classic copy of Vogue...

Plus he says “testing the test pressings” — means he is listening to test copies, not an old (massive! but almost 30 years old) single. It’s the forthcoming album!!

After the Fallon performance, the album bounced back into iTunes top 20, and stayed for some time, so it definitely helped.

I believe because it was a fun and unique performance, plus the fact that she had good chemistry with Fallon, she came across well.

The week with Ellen was too much and the performances weren't memorable.

Thanks — that must’ve been what I was remembering. And it kinda makes sense it would be the whole album, rather than just BIM. Fans already had it. GP who weren’t as tuned in “discovered” it then.

I was mistaken — it was April 9 ... YouTube clips uploaded the following day. And “Ghosttown” was the current single by that time, not LFL.

  11. 4 hours ago, Samo said:

Yeah they suck but EVERYONE I know watches  them and posts stuff in Facebook and other social media

I like Jimmy but Madonna performing BIM did zilch for RH, she needs a BIG US awards show and career retrospective/special award to remind the public...

I’m not arguing against an awards show performance, but ... what exactly were we going to notice from the Jimmy Fallon performance? BIM (song) had been available for download since the December iTunes early album download (first six tracks) as a knee-jerk reaction to the leak. I forget exactly when it happened, but I don’t think BIM was even a single then — she was performing a different album track for a different market (even though I think LFL was the current single/video). The BIM video was finished/released for consumption yet.

And part of the value of Fallon and these kinds of shows now is the YouTube re-watch (or first-time views for people who don’t stay up and watch in the first place). If I recall correctly, there was NO official upload of the performance from Fallon or Madonna .... right? There was a YouTube clip of her doing her stand-up, though. And excerpts of the interview. And maybe the “Holiday” with classroom instruments (which was cute and did a little bit of social media work for her).

My memory could be bad, but this is how I’m recalling it. I thought there was a small rise in BIM on iTunes after Fallon (as reported after) but I could totally be hallucinating. And then there was no way to build on it. No new content to download yet. Fallon was enthusiastic about it, though, and lauded her work ethic and dedication to rehearsal, so... I think it was positive from a PR standpoint. But if one is looking for a massive sales boost, it’s kind of understandable why it wasn’t there.

    UPDATE TO ADD:

She performed BIM on Fallon on April 10, 2015. BIM had been available for download for more than three months at that point. And the single (remixes and video) weren’t released until June (two months later).

Right?! I feel like at this point I know nothing other than this suffering and I’m almost afraid of what will happen without it.

Haha! I am kind of numb at this point. Like I don’t want to allow myself to believe that it’s really happening yet ...

What does the expression "Madame X" even mean?

    Sounds like a X-men character lol. 🤣

Check @robster‘s insightful post from a few pages back — he gives several theories from art history, film history, and even a biological/scientific interpretation. Certainly enough food for thought!! We’ll see what this means...

    X marks the spot!!

Thanks for clarifying that Peter! 🙂

I know we're getting closer and closer but this long wait plus the lack of concrete news is ridiculous...just give us something please!

PS: Hope you're doing ok with those surgeries!

Thanks, @Gus! I’m doing well now, thanks! I know Jazzy had surgery, too, so I feel like MadonnaNation was in the medical ward this month! I’m grateful for the care I received and feel very blessed. I appreciate your kind wishes!!

she should do it for free but shes not that kind of girl

Well, she did the Super Bowl for free ... The thing is, there is still a budget. And if she is donating her time and talent, I don’t see why the event cannot meet (fund) the need for other resources (stage, band, lights, video screens & backdrops, et al.). I mean, I’m sure there is a compromise, but how much should she have to pay to play? (Which would be essentially what she would be doing if she would have to fly in the dancers on her own dime and pay for all the hard costs and pay the dancers, band, back-up singers, hair, make-up, costumes. Sure, they could do it “on the cheap” — but why would they or she want that? The reason they want MADONNA is because she brings an entirely different level of performance.)

I got word from random people in the scene that it’s still on! I’m hopeful again!

I just can’t wait any longer! They have NEVER waited this long to mention the Sunday headliner!

🤞 Fingers crossed! Thanks for the update, @Mensch!

  15. Someone said—sorry, can’t recall who—that someone on her team or in the production of one of these shoots described it as a “long form” she’s working on. So who knows what exactly she’s cooking?!? All I know is ... I’m starving! (Obscure reference to the 1999 Max Factor campaign behind-the-scenes vid which I quote all too often in my head!!)

I believe Mensch said someone who's not his usual source told him that the Pride deal fell through but that he still hoped it would happen...

Yes, sort of ... Mensch said someone other than his usual source told him “the negotiation did not go well” and that it was looking unlikely. We were never told if it fell through, though. (Negotiations may have continued?) And yes, as Gus said, Mensch was still hopeful, because they haven’t announced the Sunday headliner, which is apparently when insiders were expecting her to perform.

Sorry, I know this almost exactly what Gus said, but wanted to clarify what I thought I recalled Mensch saying. It’s possible I missed a key update, though... I had several surgeries and was a bit out of routine for a couple weeks.

I’m addicted to Candy Shop and all the live versions. I think the MDNA Tour version is my fave.

Absolutely! ALL of the live versions are LIFE. I know even hard-core fans like to poke fun about Candy Shop, but ... I cannot find any fault with any of the live versions. I liked the MDNA tour version best until the RHT version ... I think that might be tied with it MDNAT version now. Both are great, and the choreography and costumes .... :dramatic:

Thanks. I still find that odd — it is not a quote from Madonna or her publicist, and from a screen cap like this, I can’t even see who wrote it. The author of the piece or an editor...? And is this a translation...?

  19. 3 minutes ago, Confessit said:

Yes I agree it was editorial but it was a collaboration with Madonna and her people. The whole concept of the photo shoot and the interview was thought up by Madonna.

Originally Vogue ITALIA wanted wanted to do a tribute issue to celebrate her 60th she declined it and the concept of her new life in Portugal was instead the direction the issue went in because of Madonna. This wasn't a tabloid newspaper this article was created and approved by M herself. Madonna choose the whole direction.

Your completely right there is a huge difference between saying the album is expected at the end of the year as oppose to it will be released by the end of the year.

The article said the album will be released by the end of the year babe.

As you've already commented that gives the readers the impression it would be released and that's why many other news outlets reported it would happen last year omce Vogue went on sale.

Well, “babe,” do you have a scan? And was it in Italian or English?

Just because Madonna was involved in the creative direction of the portfolio and cooperated by speaking with the interviewer does not mean that she proofed the final editor’s layout or the editor’s letter or the publisher’s letter (which often talk about the features in that issue). We all know Madonna doesn’t proofread carefully, or we wouldn’t get the kind of typos we get on IG and elsewhere. I love her, but she needs a proofreader from time to time. (I know she doesn’t think she needs one and she will yell about the grammar police and the tag police, but ... yeah, sometimes typos can cause confusion. Just like how Vogue Italia could have typed an “8” instead of a “9.” Makes a big difference to people.)
