Does anyone else feel really satisfied with the tracklisting / sequencing on this album?

I have to say it's so refreshing to listen through a new M record again without the need to mess with the tracklist. The whole album flows so well from start to finish!

With MDNA, I had to kick out most of the Solveig songs first and reshuffle the whole thing, while with RH I basically created my own album  (albeit a very good one, still love RH). This one is just perfect - despite the variety of styles everything is tied together flawlessly.

Yes! It flows perfect and I also haven't felt the need to mess with anything. I noticed it immediately on first listen. The album is pretty long but it flies by because it flows so well. With MDNA I don't even recall the real tracklist....I only know mine. I tried to stay more true to RH but there were just sooooo many options so I did kind of shuffle things around a bit there too.

    Funny story about Fallon....

Years ago we had my boyfriends (now husband) sister over for dinner. She’s a pretty big pothead so afterwards we smoked and sat down to watch tv. Now, mind you I don’t smoke weed very often so when I do I get pretty fucking high and at the time I didn’t know his sister nearly as well as I do now.

A Capital One commercial came on and Jimmy Fallon was their spokesperson then. Being SO high and COMPLETELY forgetting that his sister was IN THE ROOM I blurted out:

“He’s so fucking cute. I would sit on his face in a second”

    My boyfriend just yelled “JASON!”

And his sister completely died. Then we all  started laughing so hard it hurt. Needless to say it was the ice breaker that I needed with his sister. She has never let me live that down.

So yes. I’ve always loved Jimmy. Add to the fact it’s obvious he’s a huge Madonna fan and that makes him even more perfect.

Adorable interview. Loved the dance off. She looks incredible and I’m just blown away that she can still move like that. It’s almost inhuman.

    This is amazing!!

And don't u ever forget it.

    Love that clip.

A Paula, Whitney, Janet etc NEVER would've been that brave. This was 1991......the look on the interviewers face once the conversation turns to homophobia being a "problem", like someone just took a shit in the room really says it all. Like how dare she think that homophobia is a *gasp* problem!!

It's funny that she's STILL on that same crusade almost 30 yrs later.

Ppl are so weird. It's like they're just now waking up to the fact that Madonna is a sassy, cheeky, flirtatious...bitch! She's always been that way. I mean my god, watch Arsenio Hall. What was that, 1992? With Rosie? She really hasn't changed much.

Twitter is full of people who cry after they masturbate.

And Twitter would've been in absolute tears after that Arsenio '92 appearance. Madonna was every bit the unapologetic superstar that night and was at her peak cheeky, sarcastic, flirty self.....well once the ADORING crowd finally let her speak that is. Never have I seen an audience react to a celeb the way that crowd reacted to her. That in itself would've shook Twitter. Their faves then AND now could never. Madonna comes from the "old school" of celebs that have actual PERSONALITIES of their own. Unlike now, where people fangirl over the likes of those that are about as exciting as vanilla ice cream.

  5. Sorry, but I've always thought Fallon is absolutely adorable.....yes, he's a dork but he's so damn cute and he has nothing but love and admiration for the Queen.....never, ever on or off the show do you hear him giving any subtle shade towards her whatsoever. Clearly, she's very comfortable with him and it pays off when she's on his show. See what happens when it's nothing but....."POSITIVE VIBES". 😃 SHE was amazing, adorable, likable.....and Mama can still fuckin move like nobody's business. Also, one of my favorite looks of the era so far.

As always, Twitter can fuck off. We should try something new. How about only reporting when Twitter doesn't comment at all on M. When THAT happens.....that is when we have a problem. As long as she gets hated on in that vile space, then she's doing good.

Oh and get off Future's nuts.....I like it, many fans like it, the general public in my experience likes it and more importantly it's obvious Madonna likes it. Either get on board with it or get the fuck off the train hoes!! :roadrunner:

I wonder had MJ lived and without the scandals would he suffer the same amount of scrutiny for every release? Would sales for MJ and Madonna be similar, if I remember MJ albums prior to his death were selling less and less, I mean it’s the only fair comparison apples and apples? The real spanner in the works for Madonna has been digital downloads, she is such a physical artist, imagine the thousands of copies she doesn’t sell because of digital, either illegal or people buying select songs, also Madonna was NEVER established as a streaming artist, Guy let her down in this format.

MJ would prob be shifting a cool couple million of his new stuff if he were still around. Madonna did around 1 million of RH. Historically, he always tended to sell a little more than her if you put albums they released around the same time side by side.....Invincible/Music may be one of the exceptions to that. Definitely don't think he'd be immune to the overall decline in sales across the board that everyone experiences.....also don't think he'd be any sort of streaming force that would rival the newer acts. Madonna gets scrutinized unfairly for a lot of things but one thing they both have in common is their previous massive successes are used against them. In MJ's case, from Dangerous onward (really Bad to a degree) there was a narrative that he wasn't as successful because those albums didn't equal Thriller amounts. That was the case up until his last studio album in '01.....it sold something like 6-7 million but it's a "flop" to many. With Madonna, in recent years, the beef is she isn't churning out COADF's with every release.....both stylistically and commercially, so she's "lost it" and "needs to retire".

Regarding streaming for Madonna, I feel like Madonna doesn't do too terribly in that area considering she's 60 and almost 40 yrs into her career. Are there any other living 60+ acts that are top streaming artists? I'm seriously asking. A large bulk of M fans are in the 40+ or even 50+ range so not as much streaming going on there as the teens and 20 somethings obviously. Not sure what Guy could really do about that.

  7. I don't normally get overly excited over the thoughts of Madonna doing simple acoustic versions of her songs but I'd really love to see her do that with Crave. Just her on a stool with her guitar.....like Letterman '00.

This really is such a gorgeous song.

  8. I think only a hit song can sustain sales for any extended period.

Even if she went balls to the wall with promo next couple of weeks, that will peak relatively quickly then fall.

Overall though, this album has great reviews so let's hope that translates to good word of mouth. I think that was what helped COADF in the US more than anything.

I just can't grasp the hate for this song. It was instant love from first listen. It shines like this bright light on the album. It's incredibly catchy, has got great hooks, a melody that sticks with you, and if this was any other artist, I could see this all over the radio. The lyrics may be heavy, but like other songs on the album, the production fools you with something that's quite escapist, takes you away to another time and place... perfect for the summer.

Don't get why this one gets such a hard time.

This was my favorite of the pre-release songs (besides Medellin). Agree that it has an escapist quality....summery vibe.

Eurovision was weeks ago - no one would be looking at the album and thinking, "Gee, I'm going to give this one a miss because I clearly remember the song she performed a month ago on TV and everyone hated it!"  If Bruce had released his album next week, we would all be sitting here getting excited about the prospect of Madonna scoring yet another #1 album in the UK.  Universal and Sony should have given the world the chance to put both artists at #1 in consecutive weeks, rather than setting up a chart battle which could potentially see Madonna end up at #2 around the world behind someone who has been an albums artist (as opposed to an albums/singles artist) for the past 25 years.

Bruce and Madonna appeal to vastly different demographics.  Both deserve to be #1 but only one of them will be labelled a failure if they debut at #2 (hint: it's not the one who hasn't had a hit single since 1997, when an underperforming single from 1995 was used in a massive movie and became a hit after it was re-released - it's the one who everybody loves to tear apart at every opportunity).  If the situation were reversed, they'd be praised for charting so highly at this stage of their career.

    Exactly!

One thing we have to understand (myself included) when it comes to M is that everything is amplified. What's a hit for someone else, under the exact same circumstances wouldn't be a "hit" for her. It's frustrating but in the end shows just how relevant and powerful she is even at nearly 40 yrs into her career.

No doubt Madonna will be slaughtered by UK media for debuting at #2.....but if it had been Bruce, the narrative would be quite different.

Btw, I'm not suggesting in any way Bruce SHOULD be torn apart in any way.....I have nothing but respect for him and he's a legend but yeah, the way he and Madonna are treated couldn't be more like night and day.

  11. WHY does everyone freak out???

She teased this MONDAY.....it's only WEDNESDAY!!

For fuck sake.....why does EVERYTHING have to be some sort of conspiracy, changed plans or crisis of some sorts.

She teased the video TWO DAYS AGO.....it'll come #soon.

    O.M.G.

MADONNA DIDN'T RELEASE HER VIDEO 3 MINUTES AFTER SHE TEASED IT!!! IT'S CANCELLED!!! IT'S A FLOP!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  12. Borderline on his show was such a great moment.

I think she could do something similar with Crave. Just plain and simple....no disco versions or anything.....this is the one time Madonna + guitar and raw voice sound marvelous.

Having said that, don't know what Mensch knows in regard to her wardrobe so perhaps knowing that, something else would be more fitting! After all, Madonna sitting and strumming a guitar for Joan Of Arc on Fallon with the outfit she was wearing in 2015 would've seemed quite "off".....I'm open here!! Give it to me Madame X!!!

I think had she of performed on TV let's say on GN or every an exclusive on the One Show it would of massively helped as the only live performance in the general U.K. Publics minds is the Eurovision.

But I agree with what your saying isn't everything she needed to do some live performances for the UK to help the album.

I agree! More performances would've helped perhaps.

However, I don't think Eurovision played a part....that is a very easy scapegoat though so I can see why so many are using it.

I think no hit song is a far bigger factor than Euro. If Euro had such a negative affect then the album wouldn't even be doing as well as it is. Madonna is a victim of circumstance in the UK it seems.....Bruce on Father's Day weekend + no hit single just wasn't enough to push MX over the edge
