How is this sanity? You're all romanticizing this idea of "fighting to the death".
Ukraine standing up to Putin is wonderful and inspiring, but also if they WERE to reach a compromise (giving up more regions to Russia / agree not to join NATO / whatever) as a means to end this horrific bloodshed and destruction I wouldn't blame them one bit.
It's so easy for all of you to say this. You don't have to "pray" for allies, you're part of NATO it will happen automatically. Ukraine is alone.
The only romanticized idea is to think Putin really wants to negotiate. THAT is what is ROMANTIC.
After 1 month of war, it’s pretty clear that’s not what he wants and he has other things in mind. His ideas of negotiations are: here is what I want, you surrender and give it to me or we’ll keep attack you. It’s all smoke and mirror. So yes, I get why they fight for the country and stand for their beliefs.

If some evil dictator invaded Australia and demanded land, I would want my country to fight and not just hand it over. Some suggested at the time in second world war that Australia should divide the country up and give much of it to Japan . Why should the people of Ukraine give up their land to this evil dictator. Why should the people of Ukraine have to accept a control freak who will change their life as their leader ? The world compromised and did deals with Hitler and look how that worked out. Should Hong Kong and potentially Taiwan just give their freedoms over to China ? Putin needs to be stopped and that needs to be sooner rather than later
A bit of sanity, here, thank you very much.
If Russia invaded Canada I would want my country to fight for his sovereignty as much as he can, as long as he can. And of course I will pray for help from my allies.
Putin hasn’t won yet. It’s way more difficult than he thought it would be. Ukrainian men are an inspiration.

No matter on what side you are, no matter what you think about it, Ukrenian, Russian, it’s absolutely tragic

I saw this picture, too, very moving:
PHOTO GLEB GARANICH, REUTERS
Volodymyr and his son Yaroslav shed tears as their loved ones left Kyiv for Lviv on March 11.

He is recruting Syrian mercenaries for urban combat. Watch out the blood bath.

Ukraine war: Putin seeks foreign volunteers to fight in Ukraine
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60705486
I can see Ukraine desiring volunteers since they have a much much smaller armed force. I wonder why Puta is wanting additional volunteers for his invasion, despite the fact that their force is so mammoth already.
How I see it, two things:
it’s going how Putin tought it would go. Ukraine are way more stronger than what he had in mind. He needs more troop to take more cities.
Also, I think he’s desperately waiting for NATO to interfere. I think he has more than Ukraine in mind. If Nato does something, he’ll have his reasons to attack Poland and move West.

Wow, you're just spewing complete nonsense and are totally out of line. From the beginning, I've been calling for the necessity to negotiate and cease the war as soon as possible instead of counting on counter-attacking the aggressor on the ground, and I get mocked constantly.
ooooooooh the victim card, once again,

He’s not a coward, that’s for sure. He stands for his ideas, his beliefs and he defends his country. He has all my admiration for this.

I'm surprised by the negativity towards Zelensky by some. What exactly did you want him to do? Just let Putin do whatever he wants because going against it implies danger to the other countries?
I feel the same. The guy is not a saint, but the way some people here, call him "the man of the year" is so full of contempt and disdain, I just don't get it.

Some of you are so contemptuous and sound so bitter - your life must be very sad.

Joe Biden is about to announce a ban on importing Russian oil but the impact will be minimal because USA imports only a small amount of Russia's oil.

Russia is a threat for CANADA, claiming more than 750 000 square km of land in Arctic to UN.
Where and when will it stop ? Putin is a megalomaniac, he's out of his mind.

Im sure someone could try to justify Hitlers invasion of Poland and other lands he took too, old germania land and other pap
Yeah, it was USA's fault.
And when I read stuff like "the city of Kiev would be divided east and west between the Dniepre river.", I just can't help myself but roll my eyes, . Some will never learn from HISTORY and prefer to live in their fantasies.

Many predicted Nato expansion would lead to war. Those warnings were ignored
It has long been clear that Nato expansion would lead to tragedy. We are now paying the price for the US’s arrogance

Oh yeah… right…
Ted Galen Carpenter was at the head of Cato Institute, a libertarian think thank, meaning he is a far right activist. Sorry for you but the guy has ZERO credibility.
I just can’t believe some of you still try to blame USA for what is happening. It’s time to WAKE UP.

I understand it's disturbing, but people need to wake up and become fully aware of the real threat that this regime poses to the entire humankind.
Honestly this is not necessary. I think most of us, around here, clearly understand what is happening and what kind of monster Putin is.

Once again it’s West’s fault
They tried diplomacy for months, look where it led. Putin doesn’t care about diplomacy, he’s a dictator. He has an idea in mind, nothing will make it change.

If anything people should learn some fucking history to not repeat the same or at least similar mistakes in the present and future.
Totally agree. Unfortunately, it seems we never learn.
