Carrie: Has anyone written a song about you?
Madonna: Pat Leonard, this guy that I write music with, wrote a song about me called “Queen Of Mysery.”
Carrie: Are you like that? Do you get depressed?
Madonna: I have been. I write all my sad songs with Pat.

This is the first time i hear about this, did we ever get more insight on what it was about? Did she ever demo it?

In an old Rolling Stone magazine interview, frequent Madonna collaborator Pat Leonard mentioned writhing this song with Kevin Gilbert (aka: Hank Panky remixer). The song was written about Madonna, not for her to record. The song appeared on the first Toy Matinee album (band featuring Leonard and Gilbert) with no Madonna participation. This song is about a woman who looks for love through a series of one night stands.

Kevin Gilbert had a hand in breaking Sheyl Crow as a solo artist (she used to sing with Toy Matinee in LA), but he died shortly after her first album took off. He also worked on Madonna's "I'm Breathless" album.

Interesting. I always knew that Bill Bottrell had produced both songs on IB and Sheryl's first album (he also produced some stuff with MJ), but I never made the KG connection. I knew the name from IB and HP, and I remember hearing about the guy from Sheryl's album who died, but I never realized they were the same guy.

Apparently he was Sheryl's BF and died of autoerotic asphyxiation.

thanks all,

Bouncing off the walls
Blind and dancing out of frame
Easy friends who will remain
Looking for a home
She wonders who will have the Queen alone

Every night the same
Another man, a dirty boy
Takes a turn they both enjoy
Destiny unknown
He asks if he can take her highness home

Chorus
She's looking for someone to give the love that I denied
Some stranger's brief embrace
To fill the emptiness inside

(Take her home, she's the queen of ecstacy)
(Makes you warm, she's the queen of misery)

Insane domain
Checks her makerup, bites her nails
One more tab, a dreamer's vail
Such a shallow scene
She asks for God to save the queen

Chorus

Bouncing on my knee
The innocence so quickly killed
A father's love left unfilled
How could I have known?
I wouldn't have left my princess all alone

Chorus

(Takes you in, she's the queen of ecstacy)
(Heaven's sin, she's the queen of misery)

I like some of the lyrics. not the song itself by that band doe
