Crystal Coffin
You really have a problem with poor little Secret, don't you? Within the context of the Bedtime Stories album (which is a very cohesive record), I actually can tolerate it. Same with "Don't Stop" and "I'd Rather Be Your Lover". As a stand-alone song, no! "Secret", in its original form, is just way too hollow to my ears. I like my Madonna songs MEATY and SOLID. Songs like "Rain", "Live to Tell", "Oh Father", "Take a Bow" and "Frozen" fit that requirement real good.
Crystal Coffin
Oh and by the way, I replaced "Don't Stop" with "Your Honesty" for my own BS.

MPowered
Oh and before I forget it, I'm actually working on a repackaging/new version of GHV2. I actually had to chuckle a bit, because I saw you called your collection "The Second Coming", which is what I did with my GHV2 album, as well. Here's a preview of what I'm working on: I think the release of it should've coincided with the release of the DWT DVD and in order to promote both products they should kinda relate to each other, if you know what I mean. I wanted the design of this CD to be reminiscent of the Geisha section from the tour, because I think it was the most eye-catching from DWT. I also included Paradise as the "new song" and thought it would've been really cool to have the video of it somehow included on the CD. The single of GHV2 would've been a double A-side release of the GHV2 megamix and Paradise. It's not finished, yet: Tracklist: With the tracklist I did not focus on her "hits" only but on her most memorable songs from 1993-2001. If I would've focused on her hits, then no one would've bought STR and we can't let that happen tbh. 001 EROTICA [Radio Edit] 4:33 002 BAD GIRL [Edit Mix] 4:46 003 HUMAN NATURE 4:31 004 DON'T TELL ME [Radio Edit] 4:11 005 WHAT IT FEELS LIKE FOR A GIRL [Radio Edit] 4:03 006 SECRET [Edit] 4:32 007 RAIN [Remix Edit] 4:17 008 RAY OF LIGHT [Edit] 4:36 009 BEAUTIFUL STRANGER [WO Radio Edit] 3:58 010 MUSIC [Edit] 3:45 011 DEEPER AND DEEPER [7'' Edit] 4:54 012 DON'T CRY FOR ME ARGENTINA [Miami Mix Edit] 4:32 013 YOU'LL SEE [Edit] 4:19 014 FROZEN [Edit] 5:10 015 TAKE A BOW 4:31 016 THE POWER OF GOOD-BYE 4:12 017 BEDTIME STORY [Edit] 4:07 018 NOTHING REALLY MATTERS [Radio Edit] 4:11 019 PARADISE (NOT FOR ME) [Edit] 4:07 83:16 <- It's too long for one CD, so one song would have to be cut... MPowered
And "Bad Girl" is just too gloomy of a song! I included it, because it's one of her best ballads and yet wasn't included on STR and also because it serves a perfect transition between Erotica and Human Nature, lyrically. Crystal Coffin
Well vande it's VERY hard to create a cohesive career-spanning compilation for an artist like Madonna whose musical output has been so diverse, especially the second half of her journey! She has released many ballad singles in the 90s, I always struggled ( ) to avoid the Part 2 from being too heavy on the slow / midtempo songs. Apparently the poor hollow "Secret" and "You'll See" HAVE to be eliminated. I love the latter, anyway. Three years ago, it was like this. Yikes! 1. "Secret"2. "You'll See"3. "Rain"4. "Frozen"5. "Take a Bow"6. "The Power of Good-Bye"7. "Ray of Light"8. "Beautiful Stranger"9. "Nothing Really Matters"10. "Don't Tell Me"11. "Die Another Day"12. "Hung Up"13. "Music"14. "4 Minutes"15. "Hollywood"16. "Sorry"17. "Give It 2 Me"18. "Celebration"

I'm listening to the song as I'm typing this crap. Its sophisticated house production is so electrifying to my whole body. I remember one fan calling it "the dance version of Rain". Anyway I full-heartly agree with what you say. I think it's much more memorable than some of the songs that ended up on Celebration. Miles Away, for example...I have no idea how that little shit sneaked it's way onto the album.

Crystal Coffin
The Second Coming Collection (Part 1) 1. "Borderline" 2. "Material Girl" 3. "True Blue": I like this song but it's not essential to me, not one of her "grand" hits 4. "Open Your Heart" 5. "Lucky Star" 6. "La Isla Bonita" 7. "Dress You Up": See "True Blue" 8. "Like a Virgin" 9. "Holiday" 10. "Into the Groove" 11. "Papa Don't Preach" 12. "Secret": Everyone knows what I think of this HOLLOW song at this point 13. "Live to Tell" 14. "Like a Prayer" 15. "Vogue" 16. "Express Yourself" 17. "Justify My Love" 18. "Erotica" The Second Coming Collection (Part 2) 1. "Frozen" 2. "Crazy for You": I have to sacrifice this to give rooms for stronger songs from the 80s, like "Oh Father" and "Burning Up" 3. "Rain" 4. "I'll Remember": I have never been a huge fan of this one, and it has its home on STR, that's where it ultimately belongs to 5. "Take a Bow" 6. "Beautiful Stranger" 7. "Ray of Light" 8. "Don't Tell Me" 9. "Deeper and Deeper": The early 90s house production is quite similar to "Vogue", it doesn't showcase her diversity 10. "This Used to Be My Playground": Too gloomy, I wouldn't want this on a celebratory compilation, it's suitable for a funeral maybe 11. "Cherish": I always hate this song, it's not even on my version of TIC, I replaced it with a remix of "Keep It Together" 12. "Who's That Girl": Good song but nothing special about it, it's just a soundtrack single from 1987 13. "Die Another Day" 14. "Hung Up" 15. "Music" 16. "Celebration" 17. "4 Minutes" 18. "Revolver" There, read my painful commentaries
