  1. Chlorine ‘Karens’: Women ‘shamed’ for confronting kissing female couple at hotel pool

A group of women at a California hotel pool got into a heated confrontation with other guests after allegedly berating a female couple for kissing in front of children, reports said.

The poolside drama unfolded Sunday at Sacremento’s Kimpton Sawyer hotel — and ended with the women leaving the outdoor area to chants of “Shame,” according to now-viral footage posted to Instagram.

“Pool Karens asked a female couple to stop kissing in front of kids,” Art Kaligos, the man who filmed part of the exchange, wrote on his social media post.

One of the women who were kissing, Domonique Veasley, told CBS 13 she felt like she was singled out, claiming straight couples in the pool were also being affectionate.

“My initial reaction for the children was ‘Oh yeah,’ and then I was like ‘You are asking me to stop being me,’” she told the news station.

“This is not OK anymore, it’s 2021,” said Veasley.

Several reports indicated the women were eventually led out by security, but a lawyer for them, Terry Fahn, told SFGATE the group left on their own accord out of fear for their safety.

As the women were leaving, one of them, identified as “Deb” by the name on her Starbucks cup, got into a shouting match with people inside the pool who were chanting “Shame.”

“I have never met anyone like you guys. Are you kidding me?” she could be heard saying in the Instagram video.

“I have never been more embarrassed in my life for the human race. I am a Jewish woman from New Jersey, you’re a disgusting piece of s—t,” she continued.

Nikki Carlson, the general manager at the hotel, condemned the incident in a statement.

“The Sawyer does not condone discrimination or verbal assault of any kind,” Carlson said in a statement to SFGATE.

“An unfortunate disagreement between guests occurred at our pool over the holiday weekend and the matter has since been resolved.”

Fahn, the lawyer for the women, said discrimination was not a factor.

“This incident had nothing to do with homophobia, racism or even kissing,” Fahn said in a statement to SFGATE. “It involved what appeared to be sexual intercourse and inappropriate activity in close proximity of children.”

“When members of the party politely and respectfully asked that some of the sexual activity be toned down because children were close by in the pool, they were met with aggressive verbal attacks,” said Fahn.

  2. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Security Cabinet voted on Thursday in favor of halting their military activity in the Gaza Strip, as the Palestinian militant group Hamas agrees to a "mutual and simultaneous" cease-fire, according to Reuters. It is expected to go into effect on Friday. News of the impending cease-fire comes after mounting international pressure for an end to the violence between both sides. At least 230 Palestinians have been killed in the recent conflict, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, while 12 people in Israel have also been killed, Israeli authorities say.

  3. Alabama woman who allegedly used stolen money to pay for plastic surgery pleads guilty to robbing Mississippi bank

    MAY 13, 2021 AT 12:32 PM

An Alabama woman who allegedly used money stolen from a bank to pay for cosmetic surgeries was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Iconic Facce, from Ashford, Ala., pleaded guilty on Monday to two counts of robbing a BancorpSouth location in Gulfport, Miss., on March 22, 2019, District Attorney Crosby Parker said in a press release.

According to court documents, Facce gave a teller a handwritten note that read, “you have 1 min to give the money do not be wrong are (sic) die.”

The robbery was caught on surveillance video.

That same day police received reports of an abandoned Cadillac near the bank. Witnesses also saw a person matching Facce’s description walking away from the vehicle.

Investigators later determined that the Cadillac belonged to Facce.

“As the investigation continued, investigators were able to determine Facce’s cell phone service provider and obtain phone data, including geolocation information,” said Assistant D.A. Ian Baker, who prosecuted the case.

The data confirmed that the phone was located in the BancorpSouth area on the morning of the incident. The phone was last located later that day at the Hunstville International Airport.

After police showed photo lineups to bank tellers, they identified Facce as the person who had robbed them.

Local television station WLOX-TV reported that her case was set for trial on June 28, but Facce requested, through her attorney, to enter her guilty plea before that.

According to the Sun Herald, Facce, who’s trans, had already spent time behind bars. She served 51 months in prison for robbing an Alabama bank in January, 2009.

  4. Florida Woman Arrested After Throwing Whopper and Calling Burger King Employee Racial Slurs Over Size of Tomato

    May 3, 2021

An elderly woman was charged with a felony after she attacked a fast-food employee with racist slurs and a Whopper.

According to the Smoking Gun, 77-year-old Florida resident Judith Black was arrested over the weekend after she admitted to the assault that took place at a Sumter County Burger King. The police report states the incident occurred last Friday night, when Black reportedly became upset about the thickness of the tomato in her sandwich. The woman reportedly went to the front counter and expressed her frustration to a Black staffer. The employee told officers she informed Black that she couldn’t help until she stopped screaming, which prompted the unruly customer to throw the Whopper at the employee’s head and begin shouting racist slurs.

“Shut up you Black b*tch,” she allegedly told the staffer, before using the n-word multiple times as she left the restaurant with her husband. The victim’s account was corroborated by witnesses statements and surveillance video.

Another Burger King employee managed to get Black’s license plate number, which officers used to track Black at her home in a retirement community. Police say Black admitted to her actions and was subsequently placed under arrest. She was charged with battery. According to the Smoking Gun, the Whopper incident would’ve typically resulted in a misdemeanor; however, due to Black’s use of racist slurs, the charged was reclassified as a felony.

Black was released on $2,500 bond early Saturday.
