Sounding like those people you sometimes read or hear saying they still oppose gun control following the passing of a loved one of theirs in some horrible shooting. It is sad not to be able to "concede" when reason and logic and life itself contradict flimsy beliefs held too tightly. But I do hope her memories are blessings.

Also, love nurses, but why do so many wheel out their job title as though it makes them international authorities on EVERYTHING related to health and wellness under the sun?

  2. These people's jumbo-sized senses of performance and audience mixed with a hefty portion of overall ridiculousness and their shared absence of credibility make this easy to laugh away, but you do have to wonder if it'll gain ground at some point as something worthy of any serious consideration.

If we lived in an egalitarian world, I suppose it'd be neither here nor there if certain girlies wanted to nonchalantly play Musical Races of an afternoon.

Those 'Property Managers' (& highly likely other skunks) were ALL aware every single day of the 3 yrs the horrific shape that building was in. They're possibly the last people/snakes on earth you'd wanna be right now. And u know every one of them are alive, safe, happy, healthy and (still) could give two shits abt the tenants. What they're likely trying to flee the country over is what's coming w/ (at least) lawsuits

Oh, doubtlessly. Seems like they just weren't willing to give up their piece of the pie for long enough to have repairs made. @karbatal, the damage involved concrete: slabs, beams, walls, columns - all structural. I'm still aghast, can't remember seeing anything quite like it, but it's gotta be the explanation: https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida/2021/06/27/before-florida-condo-collapse-9-million-in-repairs-were-needed/

  4. Who's read about the 73-year-old woman with dementia who had her shoulder dislocated and her wrist fractured during an arrest by these thugs?

The clips are grisly and heartbreaking, but it's important that we heed reminders of how the profession often appeals to subsets of the population that absolutely do delight in the pain that the authority they're afforded enables them to inflict. This is pure inhumanity. VILE.

I'd lay into that punk for how he handled her. And the smugness that emanates from the pair of them, obviously thinking they're tough because they drew the blood of an elderly lady. What also beggars belief is to see them back at headquarters later on, patting themselves on the back and chuckling at "hear the pop?" as though it were some amusing quip. Sick fucks.

  5. Terrible. Heartbreaking. And there's no better reason than unearned good fortune it's not just as hopeless for most of us, as screwy as things may still be. And to think we still have assholes in our highly developed countries complaining about what they believe to be overzealous governance; try navigating this in a country with infrastructure - be it social or economic or public healthcare-associated, or what-have-you - so woefully inadequate for offering any substantive protection at all, to the point where staying safe is scarcely an OPTION, if this is something you'll DARE downplay. Then sulk and sputter about an "impingement" on your "freedoms."

Hope everyone's coping, wherever you all are.

Pithy, I know a few hard core conspiracy theorists and it is staggering and sad to see.  Another colleague of mine was telling me that he had to really work hard with his brother who had began sprouting crazy conspiracy theories.  He asked his brother for his proof of these theories and he sent him videos of people who had no credibility but were speaking like experts in medicine and science.  He managed to get through to his brother that they were frauds who had criminal convictions for taking money for fake cures ( he discovered that when he looked them up himself ) Also one woman was an American Southern woman sitting on her porch who was calling scientists demons. She had no qualifications.   He could not believe his brother was being influenced by such flimsy bizarre so called evidence.  It is truly mind blowing

Isn't it something how experience, expertise, and knowledge are to be looked down upon? While they'll venerate quacks with no qualifications that might license them to pontificate away on subjects about which they know nothing. It feels like a brew of a few things, but insecurity's got to be a major element - not understanding the ins and outs of something breeds suspicion, I guess, and along comes someone who'll speak with enough conviction and authority to make total poppycock believable. But another one rescued thanks to your friend. That is a promising sign.
