I still don't get how many women, people of colour and some gays support him.

I always remember these two from the first campaign.

But I kind of get it as I've seen a few black people be pro trump. He spouts "Christian" values and a lot of black people are deeply religious.

  2. The good thing is, the riots were quickly quelled. The government did well reacting so quickly. I think it shocked people when they saw the sentences being handed out so quickly.

A couple of people have said that it's the same people that cause fights at football matches. At soon as the football starts, they'll have something to occupy themselves.

However, it's terrible that the leftwing Hate Not Hope started the "100 riots planned" rumour to get the anti protestors out. It worked but it's terrible to use this kind of tactic.

The villain arc of this creature is unbelievable. Fingers crossed he doesn’t get his hands on some weapons of mass destruction. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already investing in para military.

He's like the James Bond villain from Tomorrow Never Does who's a media baron creating the news.

  4. There was an asparamancer on the radio last week - someone who predicts the future by tossing asparagus.

She predicted a woman will win the US election! This was before Biden resigned. However, there was an update to today. It won't be KH! She says their name starts with an M!

Could Michelle O be heading for the white house??? 😄

I've been staying out of this thread for a long while, but damn...

    Read up -

The fundraising and endorsements are through the roof right now. In less than 1 day.

Rumors are abound from the "insiders" that Trump/GOP team are pissed as hell. They wanted to go up against Joe. Rumors Trump wants to pull out of all debates now.

    Even this -

Thanks. As I said, there's been so little about her in the past few years and the Biden administration in general although I did read recently that it had actually been good. And to be fair It's all been overshadowed by COVID and Joe's health concerns.

It will be interesting to see how this changes the floating voters votes. Joe was really deterring many people from voting for the democrats but this will give the party a new lease of life.

I agree about Brexit but that was different it would of needed a 2nd referendum to happen at least a year after the original for people to wake up to the reality.

In France they go again straight away to the polls for a second bite of the cherry.

I mean what happens now? It seems very messy politically?

Will one party need to join forces with another like they did here in the U.K. when we had a hung parliament the Liberal Democrat’s hitched on to the Tories to get the majority required in parliament to het laws passed though.

Yes, Macron has to form an alliance with another party and it looks like the hard left.

well, so not a far right prime minister in France. It´s not  a surprise for me, I mean, the system that it´s in France alowes you to think twice who do you want in charge.

Yes, looks like the first vote people can register a protest vote and show they have concerns but the second vote, they can change their minds.

If only they'd done that for Brexit!

The trouble is key issue concerns by the average person like immigration and gender are not being listened to. People are being dismissed as "far right" if they express concerns and the only people prepared to talk about it are the actual far right parties so they get votes.

I thought all refugees / illegal immigrants were meant to be send to Rwanda immediately. In Rwanda (at the British Embassy?) they could file for asylum in the UK. If approved they could enter the UK legally. If refused they had to go back to their home country.

I saw a report about this and they said that Australia is having such system for quite some time. They send them to an island, Nauru. Australia says since this policy has been implemented and became general knowledge, the attempts to enter Australia illegally have decreased significantly. In fact, immigration has increased. But legally. Also, the number of people dying from crossing the ocean to reach Australia has decreased. As inhumane as the whole system sounds in the first place, the fact that it may actually safe lives appears to be a positive aspect. Especially considering the number of people dying in the attempt to reach Europe from Africa. But I have my doubts that the former British government did this to save lifes. To me it looked more like propanda to secure votes for their party. That said, Europe is intended to do the same now. Ursula von der Leyen has been on several trips to African countries recently to make similar deals.

That's what I thought but then it came out that they only had space for a few hundred. But it was both propaganda and a similar style deterrent. It did actually work because the migrants started to go to Ireland instead.

Did you see the report about Greece? How they threw migrants into the sea and let them drown and slashed their boats? Shocking.

An Australian friend of said the Australian guards used to just make the boats turn around and wouldn't let them come in but it did have a positive effect.

Macron has not resigned. Where did you read that? Macron is President, not Prime Minister.

The BBC news. I must have misheard!

    Just found this:

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has resigned this morning after shock election results...

    Anyway, they're rioting again!

I suppose Macron is a poltical genius? Did people in France come to their senses or were so shocked about the possibilty to have a right-wing party in power in parliament? One can hope that people in Germany see that for the coming elections in several states send a message to the AFD.

    Vive la France!

I think Macron has just resigned. I wonder if he was just fed up like Rishi Sunak? Both called elections early.

can somebody tell me what was/is the Rwanda plan? because I don´t know if I have understood it corerctly: was the british government planning on sending all the refugees to Kigali? even the ones that weren´t from there?

I think the aim was to send any refugee who failed to get legal status in Britain. Rather than deport them back to their country of origin, they'd send them to Rwanda. Apparently, they only had space for a few hundred if I'm correct.

Such a stupid idea and good that it has been binned.

    410! wow!

Yes, a good win! Reform got more votes than the Liberals but fewer seats!

It will be interesting to see what Starmer does to sort out the internal factions in the party. The booing of Jess Phillips was a disgrace.

Oh wow I never knew this I would never of expected it to be on a Sunday due to religious reasons.

    You learn something new everyday!

That is odd here in the U.K. you automatically get invited to vote as well you don’t register.

You have to bring ID as well I think there’s too much fraud around now not to have ID shown at voting booths.

The whole fraud thing is apparently very low but the Tories brought in the ID thing because it would more likely deter left voting voters.

As for Biden, looks like he will get the push but is Harris a strong enough candidate to take on Bush?

Time to start the process to re-join the EU. Unfortunately no rebates this time.

I definitely think the new government will try and move us closer to Europe which will be great but they can't say anything yet.

Whether we'll rejoin completely is another matter.

I’ve enjoyed them so far but it’s been fast and furious this last fortnight they are everywhere !

Good for you!!! Labour certainly get my vote as well!!

Any more Brits in ??? Who’s voting ??

I can't wait for the election. Everything just feels so heavy at the moment and a change in government will be a positive boost.

Labour will win by a landslide and Tories could have their worst election in around a hundred years. Sunak could also be the first prime minister to lose his seat but he'll be off to the US as soon as he can seat l anyway.

It will be interesting to see if Reform become the main opposition too.

I'm in a massive Labour area and will vote Labour as all the other parties just seem mental at the moment.

It will also be interesting to see what happens in Scotland. SNP and Labour are neck and neck now I think.

  16. But this is what happens when you get the left wing parties promoting multiculturalism for the last thirty years!

Personally, I think all schools should be secular. Religion should be taught in the home.

Any kind of extreme behaviour should be dealt with quickly be it religious, political or social.
