The damage that both Far Right Republicans and Fox news have done to both politics and so called "news" journalism is frightening.  Fox news being tied to only reporting what MAGA and far right supporters want to hear, instead of facts goes against everything news is supposed to be.

@VogueMusic  Correct me if I am wrong but I have been reading that some people in the USA ONLY watch Fox news and believe every single thing they say.  So that makes it even worse that they are deliberately endorsing falsehoods and not reporting anything that goes against the narrative that their audience WANT to hear.  That is not news, that is purely lies and propaganda.

I think it was Fox News that said Birmingham, the 2nd or 3rd largest city in England was 100% Muslim and people believe these lies as they want to believe the US is the last bastion of freedom and Europe is some oppressed state.

This is so crazy and scary at the same time. I was watching the movie White Noise a couple of weeks ago, didn’t finish though because I thought it was boring. The movie opens with a train explosion, some sort of toxic stuff gets blown into the air and spreads via the heavy smoke.

When I heard about the explosion in Ohio I immediately thought ‘haven’t I just seen the exact same thing in a movie??’
And now I learned that production partly took place in the same spot, where the actual disaster happened now. This is honestly kind of mindblowing and I feel so sorry for the people living there.

After a train derailment, Ohio residents are living the plot of a movie they helped make

I watched the whole thing. One of the worst films I've ever seen. They kind of forget about the whole disaster halfway through.

I doubt the residents will be so lucky.

Horrible! Turkey had a similar earthquake in the late 90ties... Geographically especially Turkey, but also Greece, is on seismitic areas... I ve read that there is also problems with how the buildings were build (lack of control) as some are practically ruins while buildings in the neighbourhood are still in tact. Its horrid, because many ppl are dead.

Given that a castle that has stood for over 2200 years collapsed, I think it's the magnitude of the earthquake. Sounds like even if there were controls in place it would have made little difference.

yet men can wear less and that's fine. they can be comfortable and wear next to nothing at the beach, while women have to suffer in the heat. fuck that.

I don't agree with it but, as I said, go elsewhere.

Go to a place where they do allow it. They'll soon change when they realise they're losing money but it will be their choice not us forcing change upon them.

Yes I agree.. I mean it's only women that are being discriminated against based on religious views. If they wanna act like whores they can go to Brighton or Toremolinos. :electropop:

I don't feel it's for me to judge other religions. I don't agree with it and it would be very colonial of me to go there and say they should change their ways to what I believe.

    I'll just go to Brighton.

Borremans is an incredible painter. Art is supposed to be strange and make people think. I cant with gen z and do many people on social media looking to get offended these days. Not everything is literal. Sorry but.. since when are the youth so fucking prude?

This feels like the conservative alt right jumping in with their usual “wont somebody please think of the children” anti sex and homophobic “propaganda”. Dont fall for it.

You might think images that have direct references to child abuse are "artists disturbing the peace" but I don't. I have friends that have to deal with this kind of stuff and it's unbelievably horrible. It isn't conservatism thinking that papers which refer to actual child abuse is unacceptable

It's this kind of trying to act cool and not be shocked which enables serial abusers to continue in plain sight such as Uncle Terry, Harvey Weinstein etc.

First of all, who exactly are "addicted loons", and who are you calling that? Because no one here sees this man as any sort of hero. In fact, quite the opposite. All I thought was that there's some interesting perspectives right now from experts who study authoritarianism, media, disinformation, etc. regarding who funded the deal, who he is/was in communication with for the deal, what are the long-term ramifications of all this and how does it affect future issues regarding protecting democracy/communication/elections/etc. There's a lot of things ringing the alarm to them beyond the obvious of him just being an egomaniac.

Yes, I saw something along those lines and it does make you wonder along with Zuckerberg, they think they're bigger than government and can shape the agenda.

They want to get anyway from 'corruption' but all they really want is to take the reigns of power.

However, it's hilarious to see just how terrible Musk is. There will be multiple lawsuits heading his way for the way he's dismissed staff globally.

And I didn't realise he didn't create Tesla, just ousted the former CEO.
