  1. He's gone and pardoned the guy who created the Silk Road darkweb site where all kinds of drugs were available along with other illegal products.

He's effectively opening up the dark web to his cronies along with his pro-crypto agenda. It's a crooks paradise.

I still hope that he and Musk will crash and bring each other down. And we'll probably get more Louis Mangioni style murders.

But of course, the ambulance chaser in chief is going to be there. She can play victim and make it all about her and pretend she cares! The Megan Markle of pop!

Mind you, who thought having Earth, Wind And Fire was a good idea? 😶

^^^ And such comments clearly show he is a tech bro who does not really understand the issue. His argument is clearly a slippery slope. Just because it was mentioned somewhere that represents a certain prestige, does not mean the comment or discussion is appropriate. He also misses the point that Hegseths comment stems from pure misogyny. He could not provide real reasoning why women should not fight in battles. Zuckerberg seems to believe if someone of a certain importance says something it is kind of stamp of approval and therefore it is worth to have a discussion? Again slippery slope. Based on this very logic people will have right to discuss the Holocaust based on the reasoning of the Nazi German government as well. Interestingly, Facebooks guidelines have not changed in this regards. At least not when it comes to the jewish part. Gays and disabled people no longer enjoy this protection. Hypocrisy much.

He is clearly a sociopath. He does not seem to understand how the real world works. All he cares about is algorithms and money. Also, in his interviews (unless it is about tech) he comes across as someone who is not well versed on many things outside of tech. And the result of this lack of knowledge is to be seen know. He opened a can of worms and struggles with the results.

Let's not forget that Facebook was set up to judge women's attractiveness. Lowlife from the start.

I think he, Musk and other similar types will destroy themselves and bring each other down. Massive egos who see everything in black and white but can't deal with real life complexities.

ok...I haven´t been following this news a lot, but apparently is a rich neighborhood the one burning? can´t this rich people pay firetrucks? because I haven´t seen a single one in the images on the news...

I don´t know if it´s related, but I have family in las vegas, and a few months ago they were complaining about a  politician stopping the creation of "corta fuegos" because he didn´t want to cut trees. A corta fuegos is like a road you create in the woods cutting the trees, to stop the fire...

One celebrity posted a request for a private fire crew he was willing to pay to save his house and he got absolutely slammed for asking. Mandy Moore has set up a go fund me too. Not a good look when average people are losing everything.

As for the corta fuegos,  there has been a lot of criticism that the land hasn't been properly managed over the years enabling the spread of the fires - insurers were cancelling insurance policies in the area because of the increasing risks. This comes at a time where the LA fire department have said their budgets have been cut and water resources haven't been managed.

This is the LA mayor who went on holiday despite weather warnings of severe winds coming in this weekend which could exacerbate the problem.

The devastation is unbelievable and the repair costs will be over $100 billion.

^^^ OMG. This is actually brilliant because it reveals the whole issue in a clever way. And he can't even sue any those people for libel or defamation because it is satire in the most obvious way. I love it.

You're completely missing the point -libel and slander laws applied to Facebook before and removing fact checking won't change any of that.

While that post is obviously satire, anyone actually calling another person similar names will get sued into the ground (and would have previously) - there have been multiple cases in the UK of people, including celebrities calling others paedos etc and getting successfully sued.

I'm wondering if this is a financial decision - community notes is done by the audience free of charge and meta have had some big financial hits recently.

How does that work? In Germany, you need at least 50% of votes in parliament (Bundestag) to pass laws. 67% if you try to change the constitution (certain parts, like the first paragraph "(1) Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority. ..." cannot be changed at all. In addition, many laws need a majority in the second chamber (Bundesrat) as well. Also, the president needs to ratify laws and could decline to sign a law if he or she thinks the law is not in line with the constitution. But this is very rare. While technically, a party with the most votes, like 35% of popular vote could govern as a minority government, but they would not get anything done without the votes from other parties in parliament. As a result we always have coalitions to form a government with at least 50%+ of seats. This is also the reason why it is currently impossible for the AfD (the neo-nazi party) to get into power because no other party is willing to work, to form a coalition with them. I say currently because I don't trust the Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU) and maybe at some point we will have a situation similar to Austria, which will soon have its first neo-nazi (well, old-nazi actually, the party was founded by former Nazis in the 50s) chancellor.

I think it's slightly misleading data above. The winner might have only 30% of the TOTAL voting population, but they will still win the election with over 50% of the votes because people who didn't vote are not included in a first past the post system.

In the UK, we often have governments that only got a quarter or a third of the total voting population but if people don't vote, they're not counted.

Apparently Greenland is rich of rare earths, so I guess Musk is behind this again.

Yes, they discussed this on the radio today. Very mineral rich but it's hard to access because of the geology of the land. However, I'm sure that's something Musk would be into developing tools to get at them.

All of this is so scary…

I'm not too bothered. They'll all turn on each other when they don't get their way. Musk has just called for the resignation of Nigel Farage after previously offering his party $100 million.

    So, this justifies genocide?

What point are you trying to prove in posting this here?

Hamas are using the Palestinian people to hide behind. They don't care if their own people are killed. And the Lebanon and Egypt aren't opening their borders to help because they regard them as dangerous too.

Ultimately, Hamas could surrender and return the hostages but they won't and are letting their own people die.

But gay people supporting the Palestinians need to understand they are supporting a culture that doesn't tolerate homosexuality and will not welcome them when this is over. However, Israel is a country very welcoming to gay people.

The anti-Semitism we're seeing is disgraceful. Jewish people aren't responsible for their Netanyahu's actions.
