  1. Whenever I see anything like this I take it with a pinch of salt. So much of what we read is just pr postings. Nobody wants to read that the tour plans are going well and things are on track. If that had happened and we had been given a definitive set list we would not have had forty + pages worth of speculation. The press need an angle to maintain our interest

But I have realised I am on a site full of Madonna fans so telling a load of drama queens that most of the news reports they read are made up is probably a futile idea. :queenbitch:

  2. The remixed versions on Confessions Tour were great - Music, Erotica, Like A Virgin were all remixed they for me were the best songs on the performance plus the way Lucky Star was mixed into Hung Up.

The dullest bits for me were the normal versions.

  3. She did sing Vogue live on BAT over a back track which is what she often does. You even see her in 'In Bed with Madonna' coming off stage saying 'Definitely one of the all time worst' around the time they discuss her throat problems.

She's always sung live over her recorded vocals. That's fine as it just helps the performance. I would much sooner have the GS performance vocals than the bland RIT one. I thought that Vogue performance was very uninspired.

No idea what she will do for this performance though. So long as it is not the rumoured folk version and she pulls out a banjo we should be ok. I just hope she just doesn't do a straight version of the song.

  4. I love the GI2M video - I think it is the best thing she has done for years. I can watch it over and over. She looks great, the production is really great. Visually engaging. The song is getting huge amounts of airplay in the UK although it will only get to about No. 6 in the charts as there are lots of strong tracks at the moment.

Going back on topic, I think GI2M will be an excellent song to end with if they do a good long version. Keep It Together was an odd choice to end with as it was only a minor release but that is a classic performance on the BAT.

I hope it has a strong theme. The Big Weekend performance was fun but not a really strong one. I think a lot of people will finally appreciate this song once they see it live and the crowd are bouncing along.

  5. This is lunacy. The album has not SUFFERED from the GIGANTIC, MASSIVE success of 4 MINUTES. Noone outside of her looned fanbase (who buy it all anyway) has ever commented that it was out of place, or a letdown, or weak in any way.

    Just lunacy.

No one out of her fanbase has bought the album from what I thought. I think the single got the Justin Timberlake fan sales too. I think the song attracted a new, younger audience but they don't buy albums. And I don't think it represents the tone of the rest of the album which may put off older purchasers.

  6. I thought the overall opinion was that HC was a much better album than we were expecting? I was surprised at how many good songs there were on it. I think 4 minutes set the wrong tone for album though. It really is a bloated piece of Timbaland production and seems out of place with the rest of the album. Also the 4 minutes video was a let down. A weak first video really puts the promotion off to a bad start so the album has suffered for that.

But touring is where the money is so that is why they are more frequent and casual fans know you will get a good show with her. The whole media world has changed dramatically and M is keeping up with it.

As Madonna fans, we have the luxury of a vast back catalogue of hits to choose from unlike a lot of fans as well as being able to see the concert almost as soon as she starts.

It's getting to the point where we have to censor our own internet behaviour so we don't get saturation from information overload

  7. If I could get to one of the front rows I would. I have seen her four times and I find her shows are better on TV than in the giant stadiums. I saw DWT and RIT and it was enjoyable enough but lacked a real raw energy. Prince live was just amazing and I don't think M has that. You are watching more a theatrical performance than just getting down with the music. There's too much reliance on the track suited goons to do street moves that don't really go with the music - Look at 'Jump' on the CT - awesome song but awful to watch live.

Also, the quality of the music has deteriorated. The RIT sounded like she just had a backing tape going. The Girlie Show was the last big show with a great band.

I imagine up close it is amazing to see her but from half way back, four tours is enough.

  8. I think the new layout of the setlist is better. Borderline and Vogue are better placed. She's out to promote HC so it's reasonable to have a lot of songs from the album.

She's touring a lot of places she's not been to or at least not been to for ages so for them, they will love to see the big songs.

I can't wait to see the new footage and hear the file leaks.

  9. jonski, have you surveyed the UK about OYH personally? :)

Obviously initial chart peaks don't indicate how a track goes on- i.e. in the USA, "Holiday" and "Borderline" consistently are among her most-played tracks per week- and they peaked at No. 16 and 10, respectively.

Would be cool if the Erotica single on tour was "Bad Girl" or somethin' like that.

Don't be an arse. I've lived here all my life and I know from radio shows, tv shows etc that songs like Music, Ray of Light, Like A Prayer, Into The Groove, Holiday etc are consistently the top references. Open Your Heart just does not come up. Papa Don't Preach and Live To Tell tend to referenced more from the True Blue.

Big deal that Borderline and Holiday are played on bloody US radio. Open Your Heart peaked at No.4 and doesn't get played often on UK radio so much.

  10. She's done Imagine. I bet she will wheel out Michael Jackson's 'Heal The World' and red Kabbollox bracelets will fall from the sky whilst Dizzy Rascal does some crap rap in the background about kids dyin' (sic)

Still can't believe that is MJ's biggest selling single in the UK.

  11. Number 4 actually, during the Christmas period when a top 5 hit is a major coup; it's also from her biggest selling studio album, not just in the UK but worldwide and, pushed the said album ahead of its nearest competitor to be the biggest selling album of 1986 in the UK. Furthermore, its worldwide longevity has been sealed by the iconic and groundbreaking video. On some occasions, chart positions alone, DO NOT reflect the size of a hit.

But still I don't know many Brits that would cite that as one of her tops hits. The video might be iconic (not exactly groundbreaking though) but the record has nowhere near the amount of popularity in the UK as it does in the US.

In this case, the chart position DOES reflect the size of the hit.

  12. I think the main thing is that there are good themes which tie the show together. I know she will perform a lot of songs from Hard Candy which is fine so long as there a story. I just don't want her to repeat songs she has already performed, particularly if she is going to wheel out the same old version.

Open Your Heart is not considered one of her big songs in the UK. It only got to No. 5 here.

Beautiful Stranger would be good. It wasn't well done on DWT so I'd like to see that.

  13. I think the latest setlist looks pretty good. A good sprinkling of different parts of her career. I'm glad Music has dropped down the setlist otherwise the end of the show wold be like every bloody live performance from the last few years.

As for a rock version, if it were an actual rock version like she did with Holiday on the WTG tour that would be cool. Unfortunately, rock now means her standing there on the guitar strumming away. Rock does work if they really go for it.

I've just listened to the rock version of Hung Up - the guitar riff during the breakdown is terrible!

  14. the champagne 'stunt' is one of the most cringe worthy moments in her whole career..I hope she drops it for the tour...

When was the champagne stunt? Was it at the big weekend? I've not even bothered to watch it as I find her performances really pedestrian now.

  15. ....and i would like to here keep it together...it's such a gut song....:( well...i know she'll never ever performe it live...butm its a such great number...

esp as her brother is about to publish a tell-all book about her. It would be crap timing.

As for Fedde Le Grand mix of Music - it's average. Just her trying to convince us she is down with the kids. There are much better bootlegs out there.

  16. Radio 1 have been playing GI2M a lot for three weeks.

However, I think 4minutes is also being bought by the trousersnake fans. It's 50/50 vocal split. They will buy the single and not the album. It will be interesting to see how high GI2M goes in the UK singles charts. It's one of the strongest songs on the album

Also, releasing an album now is not great as it is a slow period. The Christmas build up is always much better. I think she hopes the tour will kick start it. I think this is wrong. Jump peaked at No9 after the Confessions Tour.

She left Warners and joined Live Nation as the money is not in albums so how many units you shift is no longer so important. It's all about the live show.

  17. That new setlist sounds dubious. Too much repetition.

I would be very happy with Human Nature. Wouldn't surprise me if she did 'You Must Love Me'. She loved the Evita songs and she did do Lament.

As for Live Nation and casual fans. They want her to do Ray of Light, Music, La Isla Bonita. It's the casual fans who probably only own Ray of Light and the Immaculate Collection that just want her to wheel out the most obvious songs as they don't listen to her on a regular basis.

She knows where the money is at and playing her iconic tunes will shift more units to the masses. She's knows us mugs will buy it anyway regardless.

Also, perhaps she just loves singing those songs. If it were my tour I suppose I would want to do the same.

  18. How much can you really do with Angel??

I'm hoping she will perform other songs, not just a two hour long version of Angel ;)

She can probably dance to the other ones.

If she did Angel, it would probably be like Lucky Star on the Confessions Tour and go into another song. Although she will probably get the guitar out and bore us all rigid standing there, strumming away.
