  1. That mix was awful. Like a BAD reject from Bedtime Stories.

While I love the Mirwais production, I think if she had gone with headcleanr as collaborators, she could have made a brilliant rock album. Their mixes are brilliant.

I loved Bedtime Stories but the headcleanr mixes sucked beyond belief. If I wanted to hear a rock chick, I'll buy Alanis Morrisette or some other winey-assed chick.

  2. She looked awful and this time next year when someone starts a post saying "what is the worst thing Madonna wore", this will be right up there on the posts.

Not "Fierce" at all. As for the classic style of the Oscars, what do you think she was wearing in the "Blame It On Rio" spread? Pure, classic styling.

    This was just PR.

  3. I still say this album has some excellent songwriting, but the production is what cripples it in spots. My entire opinion of the project goes up about 100 points if the title track is jettisoned.
I feel exactly the same about the production for this and HC. There are some great songs in there but drowning in the production. The mix of AL is bad and suffered from the war video concept too. I love this mix of the song though and I like this video someone has made as it seems to fit the theme of the song.

Removing the heavy Mirwais mixing - it was Madonna that insisted on it, not him - I think this album would be much better received.

  4. I think it is great to hear from someone who is in competition not trashing her but paying her due respect. She could easily have attacked Madonna but didn't unlike Lily Allen, Robyn, etc etc... She has gone right up in my estimations although Poker Face annoys the heck out of me.

  5. I liked the rock version of Holiday on the WTG tour. I think it's the only time that a rock version has worked.

I can understand her bringin Holiday back as she is visiting a lot of countries where she has either never been to or not been to often. I just hope she doesn't think it will work on the guitar!

  6. No, I don't think so. The sound is just so leaden and dated. And it would be no matter who made it.

Out of all the GI2M remixes, his was the best by a mile. Eddie Amador and Jody Den Broder's were just standard club efforts that have been around for 15 years and Fedde Le Grand's mixes were forgettable although the sound of 'now'. Pete Tong's were just awful and Sly and Robbie's were pointless. He also produced one of the few decent remixes from the American Life album for Hollywood. However, his remixes for Sorry and WIFLFAG were very dated and unoriginal.

  7. I think this is the worst she has looked since that green lawn dress but even then facially she looked stunning. This makes her look like a knackered bunny girl. Did she sit with the talent vacuum Victoria Beckham? I can't believe she is that desperate for PR that she is seen with someone who has kept themselves in the spotlight doing nothing but buying PR and staying in a sham marriage with her dull husband.

  8. For me it is Into The Groove - to create a pop song so perfect and so early in her career proves her talent. Subsequent huge songs have their place but this was just her and Stephen Bray, before all the producers were brought in. A simple song about a boy who caught her eye. It came out of nowhere and Madonnamania exploded on a worldwide scale.

No pretense, no hype. Just pop genius.

  9. The whole Erotica period was brilliant from a video perspective. I loved them all.

There are very few bad videos she has made really. LDLHA and YMLM aren't great but she was pregnant for those so I can forgive her and 4M doesn't do much for me either. Other than that, she has a superb body of work.

Compare it to Prince and Michael Jackson - Prince videos are always very cheaply made and not very inspired. Michael Jackson's were ground breaking for Thriller but after that just became dull, bloated efforts.

  10. I'd be happy if one of the songs was as strong as Flo-rida's 'Right Round' . It's just been No.1 in the UK and is a great pop track but I am hoping for a move away from all that RnB stuff. All those tracks suffer from over production. As for DJ Frank, I find it strange some homeboy would jump into bed with Madonna - surely it would kill any street credibility?

Just give us a good pop song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. I assumed they were just doing it for the interest they could make on all the money. I really don't think the concerts will happen or at least, only the first few will happen.

However, given how many loony fans have had surgery to look like him, it would not surprise me if they just stick one of those on with a fedora over the eyes to do all his old (see also: tired and repetitive) moves.

  12. 14_madonna02.jpg

im glad this cover is a REJECT.......that VanityFair cover shot is old news now and

its waaay over used....try takin a new pic madonna...please?

i do like the tree top birdie crow pic tho.

I would have thought that any pictures used were purely to give an idea of the packaging overall? Once they have decided on the packaging, they can go off and create a shoot in line with the final product rather than doing a shoot and then creating the packaging around it.

I'm sure Madonna will decide the look she wants to go with later on and can work with the photographers in line with the product requirements.

Three songs is great though - so long I like them and the rest of the compilation hasn't got some glaring omission!

  13. HC already had 2 sounds on it by 2 teams, adding a totally different third one would have made it into a mess.

I don't see how Stuart could have made the album "huge" though, when "4 Minutes" would have been the only thing to get major attention anyway.

I meant, lessening the presence of the other producers and having more of Stuart to create a general flow which is not really there.

4M is a real odd one. Although the single was massive, I think it actually had a negative effect on the album. It scored by picking up Madonna fans, Justin fans and the Timbaland sound that was very in. But, I think a lot of people would see that as representative of the album and not want a whole album of that sound by Madonna.

Back to the original point, have the PSBs produced anything for anyone else recently? They did quite a good job with Minelli but that was 20 years ago.

  14. EH ? you got something against the UK ?

I don't think it is an anti-British statement. I think many Madonna fans see it as a fresh start and an end to the last ten years of her experimentations with all sorts of producers, the funny British accent, preachy religious stance and hopefully a return to her roots.

I'm a Brit and would like to think we will get a much more US clubby sound like Erotica or the First Album without all heavy presence of the lastest trendy producer and some thinly-veiled preachy Kaballah rubbish.

  15. Surely Timabaland is far more guilty of regurgitating his sound that Pharell? Pharell's stuff on HC was great but the production on 4M sounded like a sea lion honking a load of horns in a circus.

Personally, I'm not sure the Pet Shop Boys could have done Madonna justice. They haven't really had a classic song that has caught the public attention in over 10-12 years. Really Go West was their last big song with staying power and that wasn't theirs anyway.

I do think that if Stuart had come in on some of Hard Candy and the urban feel was lessened and the overall look redesigned the album would have been huge.

  16. Excellent news. She is obviously fine after her recent fall so all is well. If it is Oakenfold as rumoured, I think we should get something good - the style of his own songs is not too heavy on the production which I think is what she needs after Timbaland.

  17. Oh it would be great if Doves could hang on the Top 3 for a second week. That would make up for not reaching the top position. And it baffles me how easily Calvin Harris got to Number One while M's "Get Together" struggled. Without GT, "I'm Not Alone" would have never existed.

I think that is seriously overstating GT which is a pleasant enough tune but not a strong track...

Calvin Harris's track is a classic and it owes a lot to the house sound of the mid-nineties that was huge in the UK.

Have to say that I am not aware of the Doves track though.
