  1. New Single Played at Warners

Our reader Londonfan30 informs us that Madonna's new single has been played to Warner people yesterday. And the reaction was amazing. Our friend says:

"An all out dance record, even more so than hung up... very Ibiza, very Oakenfold but still VERY Madonna. Think 'When Love Takes Over' meets 'Southern Sun' and 'Toca Me' and also similar to the Above & Beyond mix of What It Feels Like For A Girl. The bridge is spoken word rather than sung and very Madonna - has a funny line about 'not recognising you with your clothes on! Any lyrical reference to 'Celebration' doesn't come in til the second chorus (simple 'yeah' is in it's place in chorus one). Was also told it's not going to radio 'til August 3rd."

Basically, we're all gonna be dancing our asses off to this track all summer! People will love it!

    Thanks to Londonfan30

All summer? It's not going to radio until bloody August so the summer is already halfway gone! Leak it you Cnuts!

  2. A lot of people don't appreciate at all what Hung Up did in the US! It was released on i-tunes and on the radio the SAME DAY! And the song managed to hit no1 on the HOT DIGITAL SALES for 2 weeks a few weeks after its release! That's extremely rare, to hit no1 without even a one week repression! Just because it was 2005 it peaked at no7. Today, in my opinion, it would have been at least a top4 hit on the hot100. Don't forget that Hung Up sold exactly the same with the most successful song on the american radio ever, we belong together! So make sure that you all download the song when it's out! Tell your friends to buy it, buy it as a gift for them!

The US charts are screwed. You can sell masses of singles but because you don't get the airplay you are not a hit?

If the car industry was considered a success by the amount of test drives and not of actual sales, there wouldn't be car industry. No wonder the music industry is fooked.

  3. questions, do digital sales from Amazon count too??

No - I just checked. All downloads in the UK count towards the chart but Amazon are currently choosing not to share their download information so don't release it, which means it can't be included in the charts.

I am now soooooooooooooo excited about this release - a house choon with a glamourous European party video. Woohoo! :vanitybonet:

  4. I wondered the same? I hear "Candy Shop" when the video starts to play, but then when she gets out of the car I hear this so called party rave song. I suspect it isn't, but if it was... it sounded hot. In fact, whatever the song was... it sounded hot!!

if you keep listening to the track it sounds like a male vocal. Not so clear at the start but by the end, I was pretty sure it was a male singing.

  5. I like this new trend of Madonna filming a video while doing other activities. I can't wait for her 'Madonna working out', 'Madonna having lunch' and 'Madonna on the shitter' videos.

Did you not see that in the Sex book outtakes? Knocking one out whilst Vanilla Ice looked on. Very avant garde. :dramatic:

What's the betting she'll get Rent Boy in the vid too? It's bound to get press attention.

  6. If she's not doing a video, instead of doing a montage maybe they could do something creative that doesn't involve her appearing in it.

For eg, animated Madonna's from different parts of her career performing the song.

So long as the animation isn't like the unbelievably awful "Get Together". I can't believe they dropped the city version in favour for that steaming pile of crap.

  7. I've just been listening to Deeper and Deeper and this is one where I've been unsure of lyrics previously.

I've just realised she's singing: I'm never going to hide it again rather than I'm never going to have it again

That kind of explains why the song is about a young guy dealing with his sexuality. I could never see it before.

    :flop:

I'm starting to wonder just many other lyrics I'm singing that are way off?

  8. I had no idea what she was singing on the line "Soul is in the musical" in "Vogue." I just found out here a few months ago. :manson:

I mean, I've only herad the song about seventeen-thousand times over the last twenty-or-so years. :lmao:

Would it be wrong to admit, I've now just discovered this? I thought she was singing It's only in the music hall :rosey:

Although I do think my lyrics make more sense as the next line is "That's where I feel so beautiful". As she said where, I thought she was referring to a specific place. That's what comes with having a cheap-ass album release with no lyric sheet!

  9. I prefer chronological ordering. The songs to me were of their times and if I get them all over the place I don't enjoy it. I never like Abba Gold's tracklisting as it is randomly done. Pretty much most of my collections of her songs are done that way.

I honestly don't know what to expect from this tracklisting. Recent track listings pretty much make sense but nothing surprises me anymore with Warners and M.

  10. I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal the tracklisting for Madonna's upcoming Greatest Hits album - CELEBRATION - 25 YEARS OF SUPER HITS out this September.

The album has a picture of Madonna on the cover however it will not be have an accompanying DVD. Madonna herself told me over a drink after her 02 gig last week - 'It's all about the music Neil - that's what's endured.'

    UNTIL NEXT TIME

Like Madonna would stay around after a gig to have a drink with some journalist from The Sun? :rotfl:

Here's a couple more EXCLUSIVE posts by Neil Sean.

    April 2009

I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that Madonna is rerecording one of her early singles, which she consideres 'the ultimate one that got away', to be the lead single on her upcoming 'Greatest Hits & Best Of The Rest' 4 CD package.

    Until next time, 'EVERYBODY'

    and Jan 2007

Well Madonna might look at least 10 years younger than her age but she is infact a little over 18 months away from her 50th birthday and I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that she plans to mark the occasion with the release a box set of rare recordings that up to now have never seen the light of day.

Madonna herself told me when I bumped into her at the gym recently ('checking out the hotties') that she doesn't have a problem with her age but she hates it the way they always print it, after her name in the press over here - "It's as though they're waiting for you to fall off the planet" she said.

There's also talk of releasing all of her movies on DVD as well with the inclusion of deleted scenes that didn't make the final cut.

But fear not Madge fans, if you think her creative juices are drying up as she approaches 50, think again. She's currently hard at work recording a hip-hop/rap/R 'n B album for release later this year and plans for her 2008 'Urban Ghetto Tour' are already underway.

    Until next time.

Look how right he was about those!

  11. No just a written statement, by M. Richie. :(

I know there's a swedish program where they interview Pat & he plays Frozen after the woman asks him how it originated (nothing 2 do with this case though as it was in 2000) so he plays it on the piano but I don't think the chorus melody was in there...but he definitely wrote the verse melody.

Must be a Belgian thing. I was reading about Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone - it was co written by R. Kelly and the Belgian courts decided it was too similar to another song so it is now band from the airwaves, just like Frozen.

Mariah Carey should worry cos all her songs sound the same but can you plaigerise yourself?

  12. It is not about being bitter, i think that a 2nd proper leg would be going to Australia, Japan, Corea, Hong Kong, etc, places like those that she just doesn't visit that much at all.

Guy Oseary promised they would visit Oz on the next tour so remember that and hold him to it!

  13. All I can say is, I am glad I live in the UK where we get to hear Madonna and they give her airplay time.

Age does matter here too sometimes - Phil Collins and Status Quo were furious when they were dropped from the Radio one playlist and only Radio Two would play them but because Madonna stays current with her sound, they keep playing her. It did drop during the AL period though. I just think the album didn't have a great sound for the radio. After Hollywood, there was very little airplay but Hung Up changed all that again.

Really looking forward to the new single though. Everything seems so much more positive than last year. She looks fitter, happier and seems more committed now. Celebrate! :headbang:

I have yet to hear Mariah's new single on Radio One though.

  14. i think cause you said cyndi was bigger than madonna in 85. that didnt matter here in america.

i hate we are the world. i love band aid.

as a child i was much more attracted to the english acts than american. BOY GEORGE!!!

I said Cyndi was bigger in the UK pre 85 so I could understand why she was picked. Madonna might have looked like a Cyndi clone with the punky outfits. As it happens, Cyndi Lauper's career nosedived very quickly in the UK. I think she only had a couple of hits. True Colours didn't go Top 40 and she never really bothered the charts again. 85 Madonna went stratospheric in the UK with 8 top five hits so I was disappointed she didn't make WATW but in hindsight, it isn't really her thing.

Then again, if I had the choice between her singing on WATW or singing Imagine and Hey You! I would pick WATW every time!

  15. we are the world was the american version of band aid.

I have absolutely no idea what point you are trying to make there, matey. I am well aware that WATW was the American Version of Band Aid but why did you highlight the bit about Cyndi?

    Honestly, I am clueless.

Looking at the list of those that took part, it really was adult MORsville. What about all those other top pop acts of the time? Rocksteady Crew, Maria Vidal, Animotion, Nu Shooz. Where were they too? Yes, they missed a lot of ground breaking artists in favour of the middle of the road mob.

  16. Paul Oakenfold To Me on Twitter in a pvt message..

"Your Gonna love it its amazing"...

I ask if its used in Holiday on Tour..

"Its only the music of Holiday on tour no vocals used"

I ask to describe the sound

"written in the same Key as Holiday, with a cutting edge sound"

    :scared:

Wasn't the production American Life meant to be cutting edge? And talk of a vocoder?

    It's AL part two! :yowza:

    Any word on remixers?

  17. I think US radio stations are so out of date. Spotify and LastFM.com are where's it at now. If people aren't hearing the songs they want, they will go elsewhere and US radio will suddenly find itself out in the cold.

Leave Mariah for the radio and the old order and push Madonna on the latest technology! Young people are turning away from traditional media like TV and Radio and getting their music in new ways. And you know how Madonna likes to stay current!

  18. Erotica is maybe my all time favourite Madonna album. The book, singles, remixes, videos and concert package, for me, are almost faultless. Erotica as a track is immense in all its versions, album version, sex book version, WO 12", Underground Club Mix, Kenlou Mix, Madonna's In My Jeep Mix, You Thrill Me, Rain Tapes demo.

The era had a real sense of edge, darkness and power to it but with an undercurrent of playfulness and humour that people either didn't get or chose to ignore. At the time the Sex campaign (and M) felt unstoppable, important and massive, you really need to have lived through it to appreciate the magnitude of coverage she received and the downright nastiness of the backlash that followed.

I also think she was at her most beautiful during this period; icy, haughty, androgynous beauty is always a winner for me.

I feel the opposite about it. With the launch of Sex, the massive backlash began and with every subsequent release, her popularity was waning. Singles didn't chart so high or stay around so long and Body of Evidence tanked. I couldn't understand it as the songs and videos were great. However, from a fans perspective, it was great as the record company had to put in more effort so we go more releases, mixes and videos!
