  1. not scary, no promo so far. and the album have legs.

agree sweets. thing is 1st and foremost *she gets that damn 7th #1 album lol (shes clearly made up the ground for works of art such as TIC and ROL NOT hitting #1) while an album like AL did (which I liked, yet most of the world didnt) that was a fluke, rare ands tragic scenerio. It simply was NOT a pop friendly album and had 0 songs appropriate for radio. W. HC she has a RADIO/mainstream hit. And the song which will keep those diva iconic "legs" as u were saying intact for this album will only be GI2Me!! Song is a quality, grade a smash waiting to happen ONLY if radio not only plays it, but if it somehow catches this Music-like fire where the requests and DJs dont even 2nd guess how much of a huge hit worthy song this is, based in mere quality (not who she dueted or affiliated herself with), just the song itself. Gi2me if it does get some love, or even major love in the US will easily get this album past 1+ million. 2 mill unlikely but 1-1.5 million is likely only if GI2Me is all over the place...

  2. If Ellen wasnt dancin around to those songs day after day, I dont even wanna know what kinda #s wed be lookin at! lol. Cause in reality she assisted *greatly* in contributing to those record sales from the few extra middle Americans, soccer moms and "casual" fans! Ellen really was the only A-List host/talk show who gave her any mention and positive buzz!!

  3. some people instantly and unfortunately look at 275-300k #s for a "Madonna" album as mediocore or just not stellar enough considering its "Madonna etc etc..".Most of these idiots refuse to look at the situation beyond the surface of the #s! COAD was released at the heart of holiday season, and yet only did roughly 50k more; also that was 2.5 yrs ago when the music biz record sales were indeed a "bit" better. Those are the two main points here, but ESP. the holiday season factor is *not* in contention here.

  4. I don't think Madonna's fanbase is smaller than Mariah's... not even in the US. :noway:

many many more people KNOW of M (whether they love, hate, indifferent or just know of who she is), versus the heffa cow, yet that same heffa cow *does* clearly have more bonafide hardcore crazed fans in the US (just refer to MCs record sales there) simple as that. Outside the US, well most know the deal with that.

Anways Im awaitin the Hits Daily forcast!! <crossing fingers> for around 300k something tells me it just wont be much more than that even here in the 12th hour. She WILL get #1, yet due to the time of the year and the state of the market , record gas prices etc etc..shell get her 300k or so and betta be damn proud lol!

  5. Stupid.

no he/shes not. The issue isnt hatin songs sung by people who are "black", its the quality and utter shit of the songs being sung by these FOOLs who happen to *be* black lol. Just seems that your typical #1 song in the US are sung by these moranic, thug lookin wiesels who look like your typical hourly BK/McDonalds looking burger flipper lol. Thats just what record companies are marketing too; dumb down white suburbian tweens, most of whom aspire to be black thug types lol. We're not talkin' Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Aretha, Chaka talent here lol. Madonna, is from that generation, caliber of talent. Thats why (even with endless requests, #1 smash SELLING single etc) these stations refuse to budge and purpoisly prevent this woman from having a #1 song! lol

  6. many of u already nailed it: shes has a bonafide *HIT* single which is ON the radio, frequently requested, #1 on ITunes, really good positive buzz waaay more than COAD, which highly influences many many 1000s of extra casual/ non hardcore fans/ record buyers, many of whom will be the simpleton tweens who see the JT/Timbaland name attached to all this, barely even know who Madonna is LOL., yet love the song end up buying the single and album! Thats (unfortunate as it is to a degree) yet will contribute greatly to the 1st and 2nd week sales. Its quite UNrealistic and delusional to think she'll top Mimi/400k, yet the 300-350 #s seem to me the majority here and gut objective feeling is shes in that range done deal.

  7. It's so retarded letting ANY track chart on the singles chart in the UK. There should be a separate singles chart and digital track chart. Australia does it like that.

the UK had it right prior to allowing ANY downloaded single to chart (as of like 1-2 yrs ago). I believe that its valid for newer songs, but for a 15 yrd old song to randomly chart (if dowloads are high enough that week( is just wrong, messed up and prevents newer songs from peaking higher. There should be a rule that once a song has already been released officially, unless the record company RE-releases it in a legit way, this shouldnt be allowed. oh well, just my 2 cents and wont make any impact lol.

  8. ya. in a way Im shocked MC only sold 475k (NOT bad), yet she was EVERY freakin single grade A show, has a HUGE US fanbase, support from radio etc etc..and to not break 500k is shocking lol! And cause of all these factors, its a little concerning w/ how M will sell and I may now have to lean closer to 300k instead of 350-375. Yes, shell still be #1, will sell more than 250k, but if she doesnt cross 300k it wont shock me.

  9. Everything in entertainment has gotten more front-loaded.

It used to be you released a song to radio and an album was out a week or two later. Now you can be Beyonce and have 2-3 singles out before the album even hits store shelves, and all the promotion is put into getting big numbers that first week. Now it's normal for an album to drop 60% in week 2 -- it didn't used to be like that!

Same with movies -- 15 years ago, falling 50% in the second weekend would be devastating -- now that's actually considered a decent hold.

:( oh my, Im old enough now to remember that old school formula. For yrs and yrs it was a song premiered on radio ONLY and/or MTV (that was it! ) Was that way for years and years and was such an everyday standard it seemed it couldnt possibly be different lol. "Everything" now and the sales expectations got smacked upside the head within the past 5 yrs lol. Unbelievably different times were in now!

  10. That's pretty astute.

So many of my friends who are M fans have been talking about how ambivalent they are about the new album. Among hardcore M fans, some faith seems to be shaken -- but I get the impression the general public is responding better to HC.

thats seriously the true thing we have going on here (refer to the BB #3 placement). Seems with 4M, MANY hardcore fans (many of whom I know and talked too) are not liking the song, yet she is appealing to the Take A Bow era record buyers. A song which is reeling in minor, non fanatical/ hardcore M fans lol.

  11. 350K

    No 1

btw, COADF didn't have a big radio hit but it had lot of good buzz and got MUCH better reviews than HC. And at least here in New York you could hear it EVERYWHERE the first month. Any place you went, gay or straight trendy, every other song they were playing was from confessions. That certainly was NOT the case with American Life.

So I think HC doesn't have as good buzz as COADF but has a decent radio hit. This will drive first week sales to about the same as COADF.

well I wasnt in NY when COAD/HU came out lol, but I more or less disagree. Ive already commented on how much MORE blatant positive reception the album and just Madonna herself has been getting lately in general. **the airplay factor in the states is like 60% of it, fact. Shes always been "Madonna/mega super star" even at lowest points, yet in '08 just the every day random POSITIVE coverage on shows like E Tonight, The Insider, Extra etc etc etc (Like back in the day 80s-90s)is gonna help. From where she dined out, hung out with, her look etc..is way more blatant compared to the last many years! Rest assured this will help her that 1st sales week! :)

  12. Didnt you also say first week downloads for 4 MIN would only be 70,000? :p:thumbsup:

Really though. It has to open bigger then Confessions in the US. It just has to. :dramatic:

It will be interesting to see what it does world wide though. Didnt Confessions sell 1.2 or 1.3 million its first week?

I say easily itll equal or, well Fck it, Im gonna say it'll do BETTER, download, IM/ PM era and all lol!! Hold me to this too!! lol

  13. No, the market has changed WAY more than a tad.

    2008 to date: -12% from 2007

    2007: -15% from 2006

    2006: -7% from 2005

So, the equivalent #s if you applied these drops to weekly sales figures:

    2005: 500k

    2006: 465k

    2007: 395k

    2008: 348k

Funny, I was actually making a guess at 350k = 500k in the past 3 years. Turns out that is pretty much dead-on.

The music industry has been in outright freefall the past 2-3 years.

oh my lol. solid, valid points there. Dunno how the hell u did that but Im convinced lol

  14. #1 with 425,000 if not more. I think some of the teens that never bought her, esp. during the first week will be out.

agree thats the deal here. She has mainstream AIRPLAY, 1st time since DAD lol= rich suburbian Teens/*TWEENS* who even if casual, "new " clueless M fans beg, beg, beg parents to buy them (and get their way like Paris would) that catchy song on the radio by the older white woman whos like British speaking/ foreign and a minority *yet is singin with the dreamy JT* amounts to adding on 1000s of extra albums scanned LOL

  15. ^ def agree. reason being theres just this positive aura in the air for her w/in the media lately (R&R HOF, more random coverage on all the entertaiment shows in quite some time, WAY more that Ive seen in recent years and just more or less ass kissin stuff Ive seen in a while etc..) which is WAY more blatant than during COAD (her 1st album RIGHT after her biggest disaster, mixed in with the minimal airplay and lack of buzz.).
