There’s a recession on the horizon here in America. And as far back as I can remember, any upcoming economic downturn is coupled with a war/invasion of some kind. Trump was the anti war candidate until he saw the dollar signs.
No one is an antisemite for questioning the atrocities the current Israeli regime is committing. It’s horrific. Yeah, it’s hard to claim innocence on either side but holy hell - the green light Israel has had to do whatever they want to the Middle East is pretty astounding, objectively speaking.

Idiot is too kind of a word to describe them. But I'll give credit where credit is due when it comes to Tucker grilling Cruz while he stammered and stuttered Bible verses.

Hell has frozen over - I agree with Tucker Carlson for the firs time in my life.

and….. how about Calexit?
It SHOULD be bigger than BLM, absolutely. But he learned his lesson in 2020 by not squashing those protest the way he wanted to, he was advised against it, and is ahead of the curve with these. If he's willing to send in the National Guard for what was going on in L.A, then he won't hesitate to use brute force against any other protests going on moving forward. Now, he has a team of loyalists and ZERO pushback.
Then on Saturday, he's doing his grand birthday parade disguised as a tribute to the U.S Army that has dictatorship written all over it. Price tag is at like 200 million dollars, so so much for 'fiscal responsibility' those assholes harp about. I knew this time around would be bad, but it's even worse than I imagined.

This was inevitable.
Both are so tragically egotistical that they never had the space in a room to have to have the other one in it. This was marriage of convenience that is collapsing in spectacular fashion.
The fact that these are two grown ass men who wield unparalleled world power is pretty remarkable. I'm SO happy we don't have a petty, catty, emotionally unstable woman in office or anything. Like, can you imagine Kamala feuding with a female billionaire ONLINE?
Fuck these guys.

I have my grievances with the Democratic party, but I can also walk and chew gum at the same time.
I can be pissed off with how THEY have conducted themselves and also be appalled by the current march towards authorism and fascism this current administration his taking us into. NO WHERE did I say that I didn't prefer Biden - as feeble and as mentally incapacitated as he was - over Trump. And, yes, ABSOLUTELY they put us on the right track after 4 painful years of Trump and a worldwide pandemic. It was impressive to see what they were able to get done with the slimmest of majorities in Congress and we're better off because he was able to defeat Trump and bring a semblance of normalcy back to politics and society.
But, guys, come on. An entirely winnable election was completely botched because Dems were flat out LYING about his mental and physical state when they should've been speaking up publicly and privately about Biden serving another term. I am not about to blame 'the people' when the ONLY viable option to the insanity that is the republican party are the dems who should've been ringing a fucking five alarm fire when they saw the writing on the wall with Trump crushing Biden in a general election. But they didn't. They kept saying 'oh it's fine, we're fine, he's fine'. Then you had Biden saying in the most arrogant way he could that he was THE ONLY person that could beat Trump when in all actuality, almost anyone else BUT Biden - or Kamala - probably could've taken him down. Kamala crashed and burned in 2020 before the votes were cast and Joe himself didn't even want her as VP - plenty of reports show that his heart was with Gretchen Whitmer, who would've been a far better choice.
So, yes, because of the CHOICES Democrats made over the last decade or so is PART of the reason we're in the mess. The party needs new ideas, new leadership, a different way to communicate because whatever it is they're doing is obviously not working when it comes to fighting these people.

Despite the Biden’s tragic cancer diagnosis, the revelations coming out about his mental and physical state during the last couple years of his presidency are pretty damning. The frustrating part is gaslighting done by his own party that he could do backflips and was sharp as can be when anyone with eyes and ears could see a change in the man.
The fact that the Democratic Party stuck with him is pretty unconscionable given the fact they were screaming about how much of a threat Trump was - which he was. Couple their behavior with Biden and how they sidelined Bernie in 2016 & 2020, I just don’t see how they come back from this.

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/05/18/politics/joe-biden-prostate-cancer
Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that’s spread to his bones.
So sad. As angry as I am at him for botching last years election, this is really tragic.
-
Again, those of us who have seen through his bullshit for the last 10 years - and even before that - have known he's a fake business man and celebrity who's bankrupted dozens of ventures, screwed over contractors, and is a total fraud. He has no idea what he's doing and is clinging to this tariff bullshit out of stubbornness and nothing more. There is no plan. There's no end game. The ONLY thing he's ever been good at is creating chaos with anything he does.
It's the low the income voters who bought into his garbage during the campaign that will suffer the most and as I've stated, my sympathy well has been tapped dry. So let them pay even more for their goods and services. I really don't give a fuck anymore. Maybe this is what it'll take to for them to finally open their eyes to all of this MAGA nonsense. Maybe some financial pain caused by their fearless leader will make them see he's never been on their side and used them for votes and nothing more.

Exactly. I have no pity for their tears and anger because they are responsible for the chaos that is impacting the entire planet and the Americans who did not vote for this crazy dictator. But my greatest satisfaction is seeing the tears of gays, Latinos, Muslims and Blacks who voted for Trump. They deserve to absolutely feel the worst of what this administration will inflict on their communities.
I think this why you’re not seeing the outrage and protests like you did before.
You wanted this? You got it. Own it and lay in that grave of yours.
-
I hate to be dismissive of what's going on, but there's a part of me that's just like 'fuck it'.
If his behavior in office the last time - ESPECIALLY in 2020 with the pandemic, racial unrest, not conceding the election, causing a riot at the Capitol - didn't deter people from voting for him AGAIN, then fuck it. The vast majority of his supporters don't blame him for a damn thing, it's always the deep state, the dems, the media. But never him.
So if those people can't grasp what's about to hit them with some of these grotesque orders he's putting out there, if they can't see what the MAGA movement REALLY stands for, then fuck them. I don't have it in me to deal with them anymore. They'll find a way to say it wasn't him took away their healthcare, their prescriptions, their rural clinics. So let them shrivel up and find a way to figure things out when it all happens. Again, sorry to sound to harsh, but what's the point in fighting for these folks?
I will say, for the first time in my life, I'm concerned about my marriage. I believe that having the Supreme Court repeal or drastically roll back the rights of gay couples would be another feather in has cap of wins for the evangelical assholes that see him as a gift from God for their cause.
-
I'm not going to objectively deny the fact that her fashion choices are always on point - they are. It's fine to begrudgingly admit that privately, but it's another to celebrate it. Which is what I'm seeing from people and things I follow, celebrating her and her fashion. There's NOTHING about this woman to celebrate.
What's even more disheartening and tragic are the amount of MAGA middle class women who look to her as this weird beacon of class and poise. I'm sorry, but what the fuck?
Melania is LITERALLY famous for being pretty and marrying a rich monster. That's it. She has no accomplishments other than that. None. She continues to look other way when it comes to her husbands most vile actions, impulses, and decisions, she's CLEARLY been cheated on more than a few times, and doesn't come out FOR anything in any meaningful way. She's a vapid, hollow, fem-bot of the worst kind.
You can look back on nearly every First Lady we've had and they've been teachers, lawyers, activists, etc. or have found causes they care deeply about that they positively promote for the greater good. This bitch isn't any of that. She's hideous.
-
Here we fuckin' go again.....
What a difference this is from when he won the first time though. The way he consolidated the republican party to his whim and purged his dissenters one by one as well as all these tech bro's and Wall Street ghouls is what scares me FAR more than anything else. Trump is a moron, a narcissist and a total buffoon. And they all know it. They'll use him as a vessel to build their wealth and power to heights and levels that have never been seen before in society.
But then I watch these Dems flail like fools during these confirmation hearings for GROSSLY unqualified people and I want to just take myself out back and be done with it it all. They don't have the balls to fight the way MAGA does and they certainly don't have a message OR a messenger that resonates with the general public. Plus, you're seeing ass kissing from the media and even certain progressives - John Fetterman, I'm looking at you - out of fear Trump will lock them up. It's all so gross.
This country is on a fast track to a true oligarchy.

Democrats lost their way and their asses in a spectacular fashion. And sadly, deservingly so. I’m horrified by the prospect of another Trump term but also cognizant of the fact that the side I was on completely botched a winnable election on every level.
WHY did Biden think he was the ONLY one who could beat Trump?
WHY did he say he was a ‘bridge to the future’ only to squat around and drop out THREE months until the election?
WHY did Dems gaslight us and tell use that Biden was as sharp as ever when anyone with EYES could see there was clear evidence of cognitive decline, Parkinson’s, or some other mental or physical condition?
WHY was there not an open convention?
WHY did Harris chum around with LIZ FUCKING CHENEY? As if chuckling with a war monger whose father is responsible for one the biggest foreign policy disasters of all time would make someone say OH, YEAH, NOW I’M VOTING FOR KAMALA!
I am furious over these results but I am NOT surprised in the least. This isn’t 2016 and anyone who’s followed the the numbers and the trajectory of where the Dems were going from 2020 onward could see this coming. Maybe if they had adopted Bernie Sanders playbook and rhetoric - instead of listening to angry white liberals sipping their $12 coffees who think the term Latinx and POC are winning language - they wouldn’t be in this position.
Progressives need to stop listening to kids in their diapers who are offended by everything, and start building a majority with the working class of this country to win elections again. There’s a vocal MINORITY that rules this party that needs to be purged out in place of a winning electoral majority that can actually get things done.

also, while the right has spread a lot of fake news, so has the left. and Kamala needs to stop name dropping war criminals who support her.
This.
Look, I will happily and giddily vote for Kamala. She has really impressed me with how she's run her campaign and seems to have truly found her voice as a candidate.
That being said, I can't understand why she (and some on the left) are actively promoting and seeking out the endorsements of Bush acolytes, Republicans, and the fucking Cheney's of all people. I don't give a damn how anti Trump Liz Cheney is now. That does NOT erase her past and her war mongering and the fact she sold her own lesbian sister up the river when it was politically convenient. She's a ghoul and so is her awful father. It's not like they have a constituency or base of people who say 'Oh, Liz and Dick are voting for Kamala? Well, ME TOO!!' It's a waste of time. Ask Hillary how well it worked out for her when she was up there courting anti Trumpers. The fact of the matter is, the VAST majority of the these so called 'anti Trump' conservatives ultimately come home to him on election day.
Like, are progressives going to STOP courting this extremely small sliver of republicans and focus on their OWN base.
Mystifying.

She really took it to him in a way that no one else has on a debate stage and it clearly rattled him like I've never witnessed. Kamala continues to exceed my wildest expectations as to what kind of candidate she would be. As I've said before, she has truly found her voice and her stride with this and it does truly seem to be her 'moment'.
However, I will caution everyone in this thread to not count those chickens before the eggs hatch. While she butchered him up on stage, Hillary and Joe were widely proclaimed to be the winners of their respective debates as well. And one lost and the other won by the smallest of margins when polls were predicting blowouts. The polls this time around show an ever CLOSER race and Trump has CONSISTENTLY outperformed polls from the beginning. ALL the swing state polls - Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and my home state of Michigan are literally TIED right now. Tied. So this could go either way.
My personal hope is that she swung a good chunk of undecided voters into her column last night, because that truly was a masterful performance. But in NO way is it locked up for her. It's going to be a very long, very contentious, and very tense 2 months here in America.

Walz is a fantastic pick. He’s lively enough for the stump but boring enough to do no harm to the ticket. He contrasts Kamala’s “cosmopolitan” vibe perfectly. He’s every Americans favorite teacher, coach, neighbor, uncle, dad, etc.
Shapiro & Harris would’ve looked WAY too polished and perfect together and quite frankly there’s something about him that rubs me the wrong way. She already rubs some people the wrong way herself, so I can see why she went with a guy who doesn’t look like he was cooked up in a political laboratory.
Seeing her on the campaign trail this past week is just unbelievable. Her energy, confidence, and delivery are just astounding. Where has THIS Kamala been?! I haven’t been this excited to vote since 2008.
-
I think you’re all crazy for thinking this isn’t a massive jolt of electricity for the Democrats. Biden excited absolutely no one. He was a walking corpse that should’ve bowed out prior to the primaries. He did what he had to do - beat Trump and signed in a host of impressive accomplishments.
But. Now there’s an open process, intrigue, buzz about a running mate, and wall to wall coverage about their upcoming convention. Dems NEEDED this. They desperately needed the media coverage to shift in a different direction. ESPECIALLY after Trumps assassination attempt.
For the next few weeks all the focus will be on this nomination process and that’s a huge net positive. HUGE.

If Biden dies during a second term, he's filled his cabinet with competent politicians to take over. That's more than enough to keep me from panicking about his age or his so-called mental clarity.
In any state of mind, Trump is gonna destroy us.
Well he has to actually MAKE it to a second term first. Which is pretty unlikely at this point.
I, like many of you, will vote for him. But I think a lot of you are missing the point that there are millions of others who see a feeble old fool when they see Biden and are willing to hold their nose to vote for someone who gaslights them into thinking he created the 'best economy the U.S has ever seen'.
I don't agree that if he were to step down that it'd be a mess. I think it would create a groundswell of excitement among the base if he passed it on to Harris - who could create an enormous buzz with her own running mate. Imagine the press if this were to happen. Trump NEEDS Biden, folks. Without him, the Dems are better able to expose him for the tyrant he's aiming to be without all the focus being on Biden's age and mental capabilities.

Sorry, U.S, citizens will not get away with this lame excuse. The options are very clear. And if the U.S. ends up with Trump and will slide into fascism, the only ones to blame are U.S. voters. People should take a step back and just look at the ideas that are presented to them, not the candidates. This should make the choice very easy. Every democrat or independent who votes for Trump or does not vote because Biden is too old or whatever other minor reason they have, is complicit for all what's to come. Don't complain when your so called freedoms will be lost. And don't come up with "but we didn't know" or "it's not going to be that bad". All the information is out there. Republicans do not even try to hide it. You still believe in laws, in the constituation? You think the Supreme Court will reign in? As someone said on TV today, Project 2025 has 900 pages with a lot of things it adresses. Nowhere in this document you will find anything regarding the Supreme Court. Why? Because they already have them in the bag. As seen in basically all recent rulings
I know people are not happy with Bidens appearance and criticism is warranted. BUT considering the situation, the alternative, it pisses me off that many people act like spoiled children who were not given their favourite toy on Christmas. Considering what's at stake, such infantile behaviour is completely unacceptable. People need to grow up.
I PASSIONATELY agree with you. I truly do. It’s wretched to see what could come from another Trump term.
However.
As stated above, Dems were given a chance to put forth a candidate that would get us to 50 + 1. That’s it. FIFTY PLUS ONE. A candidate that can win.
I work with the general public and MANY individuals only voted for Biden in 2020 because he wasn’t Trump. But also because he strongly alluded to serving one term. People are furious with these options and rightfully so. It feels forced. It feels undemocratic. And Dems have been playing with fire with the nomination process since Clinton steamrolled Sanders. Then Biden went and made the corrupt process even more streamlined to benefit him.
I am more or less airing my own grievances over all of this and will check the box for Biden when it comes down to it considering the atrocities on the other side. But I hope IF Dems win in November, they do some serious soul searching regarding the “democracy” they claim to want to protect. Because their own nomination process has been anything BUT since 2016.
-
Harris is logistically, legally, and practically the only viable option we have. But only IF Biden chooses to step down on his own. Which is looking (tragically) increasingly unlikely. There isn’t going to be a white knight that gallops in to save the Dems from their own self immolation. She’s the VP, she’s constitutionally next in line to the presidency. This is the way it is.
What I find so insulting is the gaslighting coming from hierarchy of the Democratic establishment. As if we didn’t see what we saw at that debate. As is we haven't seen the slow decline in Biden since he took office. They did with Ruth Bader Ginsburg. They did it with Diane Feinstein. They told us Hillary was the best option in 2016 when SCORES of us were saying she wasn’t. The fact that those governors went out on live television yesterday to say that Biden was “JUST FINE! He’s IN IT TO WIN IT!” just makes me nauseous. It’s evident he’s being propped up by a cadre of people drunk on their own personal political power.
I thought Republicans were masters at as gaslighting but it’s becoming apparent Dems are pretty good at doing to their own voters to retain power. And those chickens are going to come home to roost when Biden loses an entirely winnable election against a corrupt fascist that ALSO shouldn’t be running for president again and should be in prison.
The whole thing is sickening.

The situation is frustrating and unfortunately a sign of our times. It seems very obvious too me that Biden is a maker, is getting the job done. Unfortunately he is not able to sell his achievements to the public, he is bad self-marketer. I say it's frustrating because I have seen this many times in my professional life. So many times I have seen people being hired because of the way they presented themselves in job interviews, talking all the great things they could bring to the company, their extensive knowledge. More often then not, they turned out to be utterly useless and couldn't get there tasks done or only with mediocre results. I am sure, the quiet ones that didn't get the job would have excelled.
Biden can't hide his age or doesn't even tries to and is therefore giving a desastrous impression, even if his track record so far is a pretty great one. On MSNBC they explained the problem and said that others were simply better in hiding their issues, which is essential in US politics because US politics is basically a big show and what Americans actually seek for is a Captain America. Let's talk FDR, arguably the greatest president the US had, did voters ever see him in a wheelchair? No. Would they have voted for him a third time if they knew he would not be alive a year later. JFK, another great one. Hiding his physical issues by drugging himself. Ronald Reagan, a favorite of the Republicans, from my perspective one of the worst ones considering he destroyed the American middle class, just like Thatcher did in the UK by deindustrializing her country. He was suffering from Alzheimers during his second term. He was an actor and therefore able to be in character and overplay the issues. If only Biden was a better pretender, we wouldn't be in this situation.
And let's not forget that they didn't have a 24 hour news cycle, social media, and the kind of media scrutiny that Presidents now have to contend with. Things may have been different had that been the case. But even that their worst, Biden has appeared quite feeble and frail and confused for the last couple years especially. I mean, just look back at the debate with Trump from FOUR YEARS AGO. It's a totally different person up there.
So the frustrating part is the fact that there are people around him who are keenly aware of whatever cognitive or physical decline he has (and please, I don't want anyone to tell me there aren't some serious issues here. I have my own eyes) that CONTINUE to prop his old bones up. I've been screaming from the rooftops to my more progressive friends that he ONLY WON by a combined total of like 55,000 votes across three states - Arizona, Wisconsin, and Georgia. That's it. It won't take much to convince those 55k people to swing back the other way. He never won with a mandate, he barely won a majority, he barely won the electoral college, and he barley even won the damn primary. So it's just beyond compression that this party looked at him and said - yeah, that's our guy this time. This boils down to power, ego, and arrogance in Biden's own circle. Period.
Democrats have to take a hard, cold look in the mirror right now or risk losing it all - the Senate, the House, and the Presidency - to a party that has become dangerously unhinged. And if they don't make the decision to replace him, they deserve the landslide loss that's on the horizon.

This guy beat Andrew Cuomo last night in the Dem primary. Gives me hope for the party.
Appalling that the Dem establishment - who championed the #MeToo movement and booted Cuomo out when was governor of NY - endorsed him to begin with.
