I love the madame x looks but  combining it with the previously done met gala look just came of as a bit messy and contrived to me, sorry. Probably because we’d seen a version of it before and have that to compare it to so it felt a bit forced. No big whoop either way...

She wore different color leotards for most of the Confessions promo performances of Hung Up ... but they varied from performance to performance. There were some definite style changes from Met Gala to Eurovision in terms of the costumes. (Not just talking about the addition of an eyepatch, either...) Yes, there is definitely a connection, you can see how it grew from the Met Gala look, but ... I don’t see that she recycled something, if that is the insinuation here.

  2. She’s also never released a teaser for an album with THAT MANY looks before, too! It seems like uncharted territory. The “theatre/LA/drag queen” shoot is not the only one that we’ve heard about but not seen in full form. There are Lisbon shoots, too. So there may be several videos shot and sitting, waiting. Yes, it is quite unusual for her.

But she has to be headed into tour rehearsal mode soon, too, so ... may explain why she is working ahead a great deal. (Yes, she can shoot some visuals during rehearsals, but not as many as when she is not rehearsing...)

  3. Very curious and excited about Dark Ballet!

The rumors were always for a double single approach — a Latin market single and another single. The head of Maverick later confirmed “Crave” was the pop radio single, and they intend to continue pushing Medellín through remixes.

Video shoot schedules depend on a lot of people’s availability — considering Maluma and Swae Lee are involved on camera, and Madonna probably had strong opinions for directors, who also needed to be available. Just because the videos seem to be shot “out of sequence” to us does not mean that they made last minute changes for single releases.

And, as you all have mentioned multiple times, some of the footage shot could be for tour visuals rather than traditional music videos for single releases. We’ll have to wait and see.

  4. There weren’t calls for her to boycott the Super Bowl ahead of time, though. And likewise there was no official upload of the Super Bowl performance on YouTube afterward (still isn’t) — either from the NFL or Madonna.

Not trying to rub salt in wounds. I’m sorry fans are disappointed in some respects. In a rush or I would write more to explain.

Ok last post and then I'm out of this place (it's not personal cuz I love everyone here, I just REALLY love Madonna and I really want to enjoy an album cycle  on my own terms without anyone's opinions clouding my vibe).

Guys, remember 2015? From beginning to end, the absolute worst possible things happening. The whole album leaked, Living For Love was her first real bomb, she literally got yanked off stage by her neck at the Brits, she got publicly humiliated by the useless Drake, she released Bitch I'm Madonna (ok, maybe that is just a personal gripe), she performed with the dreadful Taylor Swift, and then she capped the year off by having a VERY PRIVATE family issue used against her in the press.

We survived that, we can survive ONE polarizing perf (imagine if this was like Wetten Daas or something, we'd all think it was terrific :rotfl:)! Cmon guys, get it together!! More videos are coming, she's gonna bring the house down at NY pride, the album is probably gonna knock our sox off, and she's gonna go on a really unique tour doing things she's never done.

I hate seeing some of you guys so crestfallen. Just take a time out from the internet. I do it all the time. I feel much better when I do. AND MY GOD, PLEASE never read the comments!!! Comments are a cesspool for everyone. Look at the way ppl treat Katy Perry, or Hillary Clinton. There are other women who get dragged similarly. It's natural to focus on negativity, it's just human nature. Sometimes you just gotta get rid of the triggers. ❤️

Aw, enjoy the album, Miguel. Will miss you around here — although I limit my Internet intake a bit, as well. It’s hard to stay away from M’Nation around album releases and tours. xoxo

Sure, last nights performance wasn't her best but it is what it is. It's the past now and I'm living in the present, in the now. I'm choosing to be grateful that M is still around and creating her art. I don't read papers, watch tv, look for the news and so I don't read all the negative stuff they are writing/saying. Why hurt yourself with all that low energy? " Positive vibes" only!!! Like M is singing in Future. Wake up. You choose how you feel and react.

    Advise, positive vibes (positive vibes)
Open your mind (open your mind)
    Open your eyes

@LoveBoxx! Positive vibes (and hugs and kisses!) to you, too!! xoxo 😍

Madonna should upload this on her Vevo!

Maybe the contract she was forced to sign prevents her from doing so.

I have to say, I *am* disappointed that there is no official upload from Eurovision. Most people who were familiar indicated that Justin Timberlake’s performance was immediately uploaded. I guess this is a way of punishing her for not complying (in their eyes) with the “no political messages” rule.

She also spent almost a whole week there in 2004 with Guy Ritchie:

I'm guessing that you did not watch the super interesting "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret" till the end . Bad, bad fan.

I WAS BEING SARCASTIC. I am well aware that Madonna has been in Israel. She understands the ancient conflict. And she knows her audience. The original poster was suggesting that “she didn’t know what the audience needed.”

Every person lives in a bubble of their own, also Madonna. Sometimes it is obvious that she wants to teach people more than they need.

And sometimes people that “already know” something still need the lesson — as a reminder, as a reinforcement, as a warning, as a simplified and purer message that may have gotten buried over time by the hardships and worries of life. To continue to call people to love God and love their neighbor in every time and place is the work of a prophet.

She feels a responsibility to use her voice. Sometimes people need consolation. Sometimes people need celebration. Sometimes people need a call to action.

Madonna should have known that everyone in the audience knows the disputes in the Middle East. That's why they wanted to celebrate and enjoy a time without war and violence together - and without pictures of violence and gas masks.

The dancers do remove the gas masks, if I’m not mistaken...

And there are comments on that EW article stating that “I bet Madonna doesn’t even know/understand the conflict or how long it’s been going on...” So I guess maybe she doesn’t know her audience...? It must have been her first time in Israel... Maybe we should cut her some slack.

I mean c'mon, it's rare to get a good vocal performance from her live

The thing is this just isn't true.  I hate when I hear people say this because as others have mentioned she sounds amazing live in person which is why her tours do so well, while her TV live performances can be hit or miss.  It's really doing her a disservice to suggest that she rarely sounds amazing when that is the norm and not the exception on tour.  Oh well, more tickets for fans in the know!

Well I saw RH in Washington DC and I thought she was flawless.

I’ve seen her live on each tour from DWT onward ... the only time I noticed any difficulty for her was actually on CT (an NYC date) for the lower register notes in the verses of Like It or Not. I think that’s a pretty darn great track record — and I love LION so much that I overlooked its live vocal imperfection.

I saw her twice on RHT (DC and Philly) and she was amazing. ESPECIALLY on low key numbers like True Blue and La Vie en Rose, which were also the most poignant, moving, emotional, and touching moments of the night.

There are times when she’s ill, there are times when she is nervous, there are times when she just has an off night, like the rest of us. On the whole, she is a great vocalist and a spectacular performer.

Um did she say fuck it and scrap the video? :lmao: where the hell is it

She’s been a little otherwise occupied with travel, rehearsals, performing? I’m sure she wants to approve the final edit, so... And it’s well known there was an unintentional issue with a leak — no doubt wasting precious time and resources being stretched thin. With the director/editor spending time reaching out to fans directly and personally to try to stop the leak from spreading ... when, surely, he would have preferred to have been spending his time in the edit bay.

The radio impact date is 5/20 — that’s probably their target date for the video, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is late now, given the circumstances.

Yes, possibly ... but I also thought it was upside down because it was reflecting what was above them? Not sure if that’s true or not. Couldn’t tell in the wide shot...

And furthermore, @Mensch, I doubt the projections changed from rehearsal. The flags were pinned to costumes, so that was an “unapproved change” or whatever, but they must have known that image would be there before. Perhaps they knew they wanted to cut away because of it, but ...

After all this, I think it’s pretty clear M didn’t cave to pressure about her setlist. She obviously was planning to present this all along. Perhaps the rumors of a “political” performance were not off the mark, but it clearly didn’t stop her from doing just that.

I thought they cut to the light design to avoid showing that shot of the church upside down

its to like the Super Bowl all over again (when they tried panning our and blurring the show of MIA’s middle finger but missed it) lmfao

Yes, possibly ... but I also thought it was upside down because it was reflecting what was above them? Not sure if that’s true or not. Couldn’t tell in the wide shot...

    What Pride performance?

Heavily rumored but not officially confirmed. @Mensch seems to have been on set for the Crave video filming (if I’m reading those threads correctly?) and he said he heard her talking about both Eurovision and Pride. Now, as we know Eurovision barely became “official” as far as all parties were contractually concerned, until days ago. So ... with NYC Pride, which is World Pride for the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, Madonna is rumored to be the Sunday headliner, which has yet to be announced. And Pride is already sold out, further reinforcing the rumors. And the album is released the same month, so... It seems likely.

  15. @Herfaceremains, what I saw toward the end was that when Quavo says “... crucifixion on the cross,” there seemed to be an inverted roofline of a church, complete with steeple and cross, reflected in the steps beneath Madonna and Quavo. Then they cut to that wide shot, which I assumed was just to show the light design in full, before they cut back to M and Quavo for her to say “wake up” and then they fall backward.

    ... underlaid with an instrumental.

and that instrumental is by another composer: Tchaikovsky. So it’s interesting that Shazam can tell the difference between the unreleased Madonna song and any number of jazzed-up/hip-hop-infused versions of the Nutcracker that you hear on commercials or on the radio at Christmastime.

I’m not trying to be skeptical, I just find it curious. That’s all!

I'm excited to find out. June 7 🙂

I have been looking forward to Dark Ballet very much and continue to. I just don’t know how all the pieces fit together yet.

It’s odd, because perhaps those spoken lines are sung in the actual album track or something, but I supposed they might have come from “Batuka,” based on the line quoted in the British Vogue article (about the storm — she was whispering about a wind howling in this performance, right?)

Should be an interesting track when we get to hear it!
