That’s not true. While there was no concrete date, There was an interview in a magazine (I forget which one) where it was confirmed for fall 2018. Months later, it was said it would be 2019.
can you blame the fans? Madonna also saidin January 2018 in an interview that’s she’s coming for us in 2018. That was a question I believe definitely related to touring and music.
Madonna herself said “soon soon soon” and Nikki Minaj said they had something brewing soon too.
That’s not “fan speculation”.
Excuse me, but please do not call me a liar. When Madonna says “soon” — there’s a lot of intetpretation that goes on. And obviously we all agree “soon” is never soon enough. But we want her to put out her art in the way she wants on the timeline she prefers — or else we get messy rollouts. So, yes, I am a fan, and I get why we talk about it and express our hopes and desires, but I can also blame fans when false narratives are created. Madonna never said what date new music is coming. Neither did her label or her management. Until that happens, and the date comes and goes without music, can anyone claim she is late.
As I said, she performed a set in a highly publicized event in 2018 — a classic, a cover, and a portion of a new song. And a few months later, she released a video of that performance, including that music. That’s something that happened in 2018 — and maybe we all want more, but don’t act like she didn’t give it to us. Just because some people interpreted her comment with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest to mean we would have a completed album and be able to see her on tour in 2018 doesn’t mean it was reality. Yes, she said she was “coming” for us in 2018. Can mean a lot of things. She was saying she was going back to work. For her, work is a creative process, and a process takes time — sometimes more than anticipated. Plus, if we want her label to promote her, they have to have marketing budget funds available for her, etc. It’s not entirely up to her when she has to work with a company (and one that she doesn’t have as much caché with as she did with Warner).

Thank you!

However, Vogue is not the National Enquirer, it's a serious publication and they would not print that article without a nod from M and/or her team.
They didn't simply make up the fact that the album would be coming late last year, they would of had that hint from talking with Madonnas people.
I believe it changed and the album pushed into this year for whatever reason.
I would love to see a scan of the Vogue Italia print edition where it quotes Madonna as saying “My album will be released in fall 2018.” I am such a flop fan because I could not buy one locally — so I’ve only seen images online and read excerpts. After the elaborate and long-unfolding lies about Glenn Close being a loony fan for M (and the revelation this past year that that’s not true), you can understand why fans are a little skeptical of online rumors.
Even if Vogue printed that, it was surely editorial and not quoting M or her representatives. I agree that Vogue may have gotten an indication an album is in the pipelines and coming “soon” — but I’d love to see the exact words and translation. (For example, did it say the album was “expected” by the end of the year? Or “will be released” by the end of the year? They sound the same, but they are technically different. Fans surely did “expect” it — but it wasn’t a realistic expectation.)
Just like another fan said — if the production company applied with the local Portuguese officials for permission to shoot in March, clearly they are operating on the expected timetable for M and co.

In some people minds...
Exactly. That was never confirmed ... it was all fan conjecture and wild speculation.
In reality, what we got was the Met Gala performance, and it included an excerpt of “Beautiful Game.” And then, on her birthday, they released an official video documenting that Met Gala performance. At no time did she or a label issue a statement that the album would be released even in a particular quarter of 2018. So, although I empathize with the disappointment, the fan theories that “her album was delayed because of _______” are not really based in any fact. Perhaps there was some change of strategy behind the scenes, but that is not known for certain. It’sfan fiction at this point.

By the way, I’m not in any way trying to say I agree with the article or anything! Quite the opposite — I’m trying to say Madonna has always done what she wants (as long as the other artist is willing).
I mean, the list could be even longer if we’re not being strict — Lenny Kravitz on JML, Bjork co-writing Bedtime Story for her, etc. She follows her muse. There’s nothing desperate or clingy about it.

one was for her album. The others are soundtracks and other people lps. She didn't have 3 o 4 feats like now.
I mean ... okay, if you want to split hairs. But Prince, Me’shell, and Massive Attack were for Madonna records. So that’s three, not one.
Yes, you are correct that the duets with Ricky and Britney were for their albums ... but ... She hopped on Ricky’s record when his star was ascending in the English-speaking markets. There were rumors it would be released as a single, it just never happened because Madonna’s schedule was busy with soundtrack songs. M filmed the video for Britney’s. So ... I’m not sure whether it really matters that it was “for them” — like that somehow makes it not “for her,” too.
They’re mutually beneficial. That’s why Madonna participates and why the other parties are happy to have Madonna’s involvement.
But yes, I concede that the number of features on an album has increased. Considering the number of songs released from RH, I don’t think it was excessive, though. On HC, JT is credited on two songs and Kanye is the only featured rap verse. (Pharrell is never listed as “featuring,” even though his vocals appear.) And on MDNA, she had Nicki and MIA — both appearing on two songs each, for a total of three songs with guest vocal. contributions. Still, proportionally, it doesn’t feel overwhelming. I agree there are more per record than in the past, but I don’t see much of a change in her strategically speaking. She is still choosing to work creatively with other artists. That didn’t start in 2008.

^ Also, should I have mentioned Missy Elliott, Warren Beatty, and Rupert Everett?

and that's why it's a problem. If everyone does it, does Madonna have to do it too? She was fine before Hard Candy.
By which time she had already collaborated with Prince, Ricky Martin, and Britney Spears... Me’shell Ndgecello (sp?) ... Massive Attack technically (although that seems like more of a “co-production” credit than a duet or featured vocal.

a madonna fan just posted this
is it lyrics
love hard was mentioned before and the slicing of the apple
The words don’t flow quite right, but ... more importantly, “LOVE HARD” is tattooed on Andy Lecompte’s hands. He is the one who “mentioned” it on IG and admitted he was trolling fans. So ... unlikely that this is legit.

Didn’t he have something to do with the hair for the opening section of RIT? I thought there were test polaroids of that (with M) in a book of his or something...

Maybe the second scenario. Album songs could be registered in a random order too.
Right! Or, could be the “other” lead single (if the “two lead singles” rumor is accurate) ... the non-Maluma single. Like someone else described it — the “disco stomper.” With Daft Punk involved, that doesn’t seem unlikely!

If was a mash up of Like A Prayer and a DP song shouldnt be Patrick Leonard be credited as well?
Oh! True. Very good point! So something completely new, then!

A Da Funk/LAP mashup featuring Maluma??
Wait — there’s only 4 names listed — Madonna and Mirwais, plus the other two — and the other two comprise Daft Punk? (I thought their identities were unknown — you know, the helmets and all — so I didn’t know their names...)
So, my point being ... either Maluma has no writing credit, or this isn’t the Maluma collab, right?
-
Maybe it’s a Mirwais-helmed mash-up of a Daft Punk catalogue song with “Like a Prayer” for live performance in the near future — promoting the new album in a live set, but including a fresh take on the classic that is celebrating 30 years ... that type of scenario?
-
Daft Punk is on board?!? WHAT WHAT WHAT?!?
My mind is exploding.
(I know it was forever ago — but remember when they were interviewed after Get Lucky and they asked if Pharrell had talked to them about bringing Madonna into the mix (not for that song, necessarily, but to collaborate on anything) — and the interviewer said they looked at each other mysteriously without giving any audible response...? Makes me wonder if something has been gestating for a long time.)

Yes, I loved that shoot — all the Testino Versace shots from that year, too. I still have that shot with the apple — I saved it from the back cover of a magazine at the time. It’s a little worn around the edges, but it was such a striking image, then and still now!

Kind of looks like she's wearing a wedding dress.
I was thinking that, too ... you can almost see something like a veil on the far left, too.

She also said (in other posts, not only Maluma-specific posts) that she is preparing a feast... so this is furthering that metaphor, too ...
This image is a little ominous, though, for some reason. To me, anyway.
Bon Appétit?

She's been over accessorizing and wearing her entire jewelry drawer over everything lately so this was refreshing
I don’t disagree that she looks fab, and the string of pearls is elegant — I noticed the same thing when I first saw it. However, I don’t think it looks bad for her to wear multiple necklaces, either. To paraphrase Titus Andremodon, “Girl, we know her brand!” We’re talking about Madonna here — she started out wearing tons of bracelets and jewelry. And others have pointed out previously when she has been wearing her “drip” in IG photos that it’s a bit of a welcome throwback. There’s room for both, and I wouldn’t say necklaces are unflattering to her. (Now, the MOUTH jewelry is another thing altogether, and about that I’ll not comment. )
