  1. From what I understand, lori has said it best so far. These things were happening anyways, Madonna is not buying out the floor herself (or her people rather) and then selling the tickets on StubHub for $8,000 each. Ticketmaster (obviously) is in cahoots with these people (nothing new there either) they sell off the tickets to StubHub and corporations, people with A LOT of expendable income take advantage of this instead of clicking on ticketmaster 800 times hoping for that perfect seat like most of us "common folk" Basically NOTHING is different now than it was on CT, RIT or DWT for us fans. We are all still going to log into ticketmaster on May 19th (or presales) and click away and hope for the best. Some of us who are ready to turn in the fan card at this moment will be coming here in a couple of weeks talking about how we got FLOOR seats through ticketmaster.....or through the Icon, citibank etc presales (and we will have big smiles on our faces :)). NOTHING is different for us fans who by tickets that method anyways. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS MADONNA IS NOW MAKING MONEY FROM THOSE FANS WHO ARE WILLING TO PAY ASTRONOMICAL PRICES ANYWAYS....CUZ THEY HAVE NEITHER THE TIME OR PATIENCE TO DEAL WITH TICKETMASTER!!

Like many of you I was ready to say "fuck that greedy bitch", "I'm not going to the tour"......but that's before I understood what the hell is going on. Nothing is different. She's just making money from the scalpers who have always been and will always be there anyways. And why shouldn't she? It's her show.

  2. HARD CANDY:

    1. Candy Shop

    2. 4 Minutes

    3. Give It 2 Me

    4. Miles Away

    5. She's Not Me

    6. Incredible

    7. Beat Goes On

    8. Dance 2night

    9. Devil Wouldn't Recognize You

    OLDER STUFF:

    1. Borderline

    2. Angel

    3. Open Your Heart

    4. Causing A Commotion

    5. Express Yourself (the RIT version of this and LAP were lacking some "oomph" or something...EY seems like it may fit better with this tour than LAP)

    6. Justify My Love

    7. Take A Bow

    8. Skin (very doubtful I know...but hey who would've thought she'd pull out You Thrill Me of all things...or even revisit the album track Paradise 6 years later like she did on CT)

    9. Music (looks like it's going to be a staple and I loved the reinvention she did at the promo gigs)

    10. Die Another Day (the RIT version of this was just wrong to me. Wrong outfit, flat arrangement...needs to be AGGRESSIVE!!)

    11. Hung Up

  3. No one has helped me yet....aside from Toronto and CANADA....

where is the ABSOLUTE *BEST* PLACE to see MADONNA live....with the most enthusiastic crowd???

I saw her in Chicago last time....no big deal...in 4th row...and the guys in front of me were talking about Barbra Streisand....hahah.

i used to think it was NYC but now not sure.......

help me out....i want to go to more than one place.....but i want it to be absolutely insane!!!!!

    XXXX

    K.

I've seen Madonna play in NYC on DWT and CT. I've seen her in DC on DWT and RIT. I had pretty bad seats at the NYC DWT, but the floor was JUMPIN. However for CT I had floor seats (near the LAV carousel) and the energy at that show (July 3rd) was just unreal. I've never been to ANY concert by any artist where everyone seemed so into it and enthusiastic and apparently the night before was even MORE insane than that. A few weeks later I saw her in Atlantic City and what a DRAB, piss poor audience that was.... I can't believe she's playing there again. It MUST be because of the money she earned there last time. So....long story short...go to NYC!! I'm not sure about outside the US so someone else will have to fill you in on that. But judging from the CT DVD the NYC crowd was 10x better.

  4. Congrats to Madonna on her 54th Hot 100 entry. Already outpeaked Sorry too and hasn't even been released officially....great!! What's up with Mariah's Bye Bye?? What's the 411 on that song?? Released yet? Radio not responding?? It's just odd to see it dropping already.

  5. oh, btw, i heard a great 4 minutes mix and give it 2 me last night at a club - it was loud and fantastic!!!!

I'm dying to hear these songs in a club, I haven't even heard 4M yet at a club (According to my friends they are playing it....I just haven't been clubbing lately). I'm going to request Incredible when I go...I hope they will play it! :dramatic:

  6. I hope they'll give the song a chance too but I doubt they will...

we just have to get ready for it so we won't get disappointed... US radio is one big shit-hole...

I mean Lollipop?? Touch My Body?? do I need to say more? :scared::dramatic:

It's true Zezwer. It's great to see her doing so well with 4M but as has been pointed out several times before, radio support for this song doesn't really fit the "demand" based on it's phenomenal sales.....that's all I'll say about that though in this thread. :nocomment:

  7. like what?

radio will barely play it in the states so...

I just hope they will at least give it a chance. It's such a great pure POP song that would be great for summer. I'm not counting on it being huge or anything though. The 37,000 who bought it this week are probably the gays that are boycotting her "urban" album but have read enough reviews to know it's the most "Ibiza" sounding song on the album so they just downloaded that track only....I'm sure a fresh CLUB mix from Paul Oakenfold helped the cause too. :demonic:

    j/k

  8. yeah, after knowing that MOOMOO intentionally moved her TMB release one week later to coincide with 4M and diabolically scheduled a Monday release to ensure a one-day sales advantage, WBR should've had the sense to move 4M a week later too... they should've realised that it's a no win situation, MOOMOO had more airplay at that time and a one-day download advantage...

oh well, it's WBR we are talking about so no surprise...

It would've been great to see her in the number 1 slot, but in the end didn't Madonna REALLY end up the winner?? 4M has slaughtered TMB in sales and that's without "shifty" promotional techniques and it's obviously had the most staying power as far as sales.

  9. I dunno... If I was her, I'd want to have tons of sales. Not for the cash, cause that doesn't matter, but just for the fact that you sold THAT many albums.

She's probably just happy with her 3 kids, husband, and chickens in the UK.

It's true. Look at all the times she has experienced that before, she's been number one so many times, sold so many albums at this point it's just like whatever to her. It's important to an extent of course, but I'm sure it's not the "end all. be all" that it once was to her at the beginning of her career (although she never acted like it was anyways).

As far as Madonna not promoting, it's true it would've been good to see her out and about and no doubt it would've only helped album sales. But Madonna was never going to shift 500k of her album in the first week, that just DOESN'T happen for her. She could've went on Oprah, Idol....the whole nine yards and she may've came up 50k more than what she is now. Madonna has NEVER been big doing big promo for her albums.

  10. No US Number 1 ever again for Madge then. Oh well, at least she tried.

There is still some hope for 4M but if she can't do it with this then unless BB changes it's rules again and stops letting lame ass radio programmers determine what is played, despite what the people are buying then yeah, she will probably never reach the top again. This system has got to change. How does a song that is the #2 selling single with 198,000 copies, steadily increased in airplay all week, #1 on call out scores for a couple of weeks now STILL fall down the main chart. Basically, in order for Madonna to have a decent shot at number one she pretty much has to sell unusually high numbers. She can't just sell "normally" like her competition....shame. Hopefully by the next album release, BB will have re-evaluated it's system.

  11. But Carrie's single will be able to chart next week, as all the others charting right now...

    WTF!!

I guess I took the information recently about Hallelujah as meaning none of them could chart. Oh well....hopefully they won't pose a big threat. It seems people go on a download frenzy for a few days with these songs and then they just drop. But anybody take a look at the Top Videos on itunes lately?? :dramatic: Every single video on it is from "Idol Gives Back" except for Madonna at #8 and the pig at #10.

  12. Let's not forget that we all rejoiced when TMB saw some slight decreases when it was around 90-100 AI's and of course it went on to shatter it's previous high in AI's later on. So, 4M is doing fine this is the first time since it's been on the radio is has decreased slightly. The only thing I cannot grasp is how the number one selling song in the country, a song that has nearly went Gold in 2 short weeks is gaining so slowly while every song around it is seeing HUGE increases. I don't want to make it sound like I'm bitching, because even if 4M starts it's decline now (ha...yeah right!) it has done EXCELLENT but something just isn't right about that to me. I know she doesn't have urban on her side like Lil Wayne and virtually everybody else that is her competition but urban shouldn't be THAT important when determining the mainstream charts....it's just frustrating. She has to work 10x as hard to get half the results. It just doesn't make me very optimistic for future singles no matter how great they may be.

  13. Well it was her first MAJOR breakthough hits and has OUTSOLD all but one of her number 1s here. It missed the top spot because both records ahead of it were for Band Aid.

    AHH OK....makes sense then!

M always seems to have impeccable timing when it comes to releasing her stuff in the middle of some huge phenomenon. Like in 1990 on the US charts when MC Hammer and (Vanilla Ice??) blocked IC from the top and then in '98 Titanic blocked ROL.

  14. Seriously! And people are eating it all up! What happened to people WORKING hard to get places. All they have to do now is get on a tv show, and sing. POOF, they're 'American Idols', or idols from whatever country, and they're selling music out their ass!!

Jesus Christ! I will NEVER buy their music. If it's any good at all, I'll get it burned, or download it off the internet. They wont be getting my $$. :noway:

Reality TV is the devil!! :voodoo:

Fortunately all of those lame performances that the "zombies" of America are eating up on itunes aren't eligible for the Hot 100. I know that doesn't help the situation with Leona but at least we don't have to worry about Carrie fucking Underwood or "Shout To The Lord" overtaking M on the main chart. I'm actually very surprised 4M has held up this week, like many of you I didn't think it would still be number one on Friday. I haven't been paying as close attention this week but it seems the popularity bar has actually increased for M too since the last time I looked, but is it enough to offset both BL versions?? :dramatic:

imisto are you still bein M's sales rep part time via Starbucks?? :)

  15. I STILL can't believe Like A Virgin didn't top the UK charts....it may not be her best song but DAMN! That's worse than Hung Up missing the top of the US charts.

BTW congrats to M on her UK itunes number one. Things are on the up and up for the song over there it seems!!

  16. What about when the CD single gets released.. would it have a chance then? What if when the album is sold on itunes would that count? because 4 min is included in the album?

All of our chart experts in here say that typically the current single of an artist usually sees a spike in sales the week of the albums release. So, I'd say that would be the next major shot at it rising to the top. I know Janet's Feedback had a resurgence when Discipline was released, actually I think that's when it peaked at #19 on the Hot 100 and rose into the Top 10 on itunes. If somebody buys the full HC album it will not count as a sale to 4M, only if they buy the individual track.

  17. If the Hot 100 was sales only, the following Madonna songs would not have hit #1:

    Crazy For You

    Live to Tell

    Open Your Heart

This Used to Be My Playground

    Take A Bow

Instead, we would add these songs to the #1 list (all of them post-2000, when single sales had gotten so low that you could hit #1 on the sales chart with just a couple thousand sold):

    Don't Tell Me

    Die Another Day

    Nothing Fails

--after this, switching to digital sales--

    Hung Up

    4 Minutes

And if digital sales had been included in 03/04, Nothing Fails would have never hit #1.

So, it doesn't really benefit Madonna, and you'd end up with far less iconic songs (DAD, NF) at #1 in place of hugely memorable hits (LFY, LTT, OYH).

Interesting! From what I understand though it seems radio really was the ONLY way to make or break a song/artist 10 years ago and greater. So it's importance in compiling the charts was a little more justified. In the 80's Top 40 seemed to consist of everything from veteran acts like Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones, Diana Ross to newer acts like Madonna, Prince, New Kids On The Block etc. Radio was instrumental in the comeback of Tina Turner at age 44 and Cher at age 52. Can you honestly see Top 40 radio even giving the new NKOTB song a chance at all to even make it?? Or say the new Donna Summer song? It just seems a lot different to me nowadays in that regard. Tina Turner had never really had a bonafide hit song on her own yet they gave her a chance in 1984. Yet someone like Madonna who has more hit songs than anybody just about has to practically beg to get her songs played in 2008....something just isn't right with that.

By no means do I think a song like NF deserved to top the Hot 100 as NOBODY knows it. That was a very awkward period and I can understand why radio was still instrumental in compiling the Hot 100. What else could they do? Now that they have figured out a way to add digital though, IMO (from what I understand about how all of this works) that should be 90% while radio should be 10%. It's all about the internet now and BB seems kind of ancient trying to hold on to what used to be relevant. People don't sit around and request songs and wait for their radio station to play it so they can tape it onto a cassette tape like they used to. The only way I think it would be justified in this day and age to allow radio to have such a big say would be if they could find a way to compile the stats of satellite radio.

  18. I wanted top 5, I got top 5. Anything else is gravy though it will annoy me for her to get yet another #2! :)

Really, I don't think I can deal with yet ANOTHER number 2 :dramatic:

But like you, this song has far exceded my expectations and in a very short period of time too. I hoped for top 5 but expected top 10 and now here we are contemplating a possible number 1. The woman never ceases to completely fucking amaze me!!

Honestly, even if the song drops at this point (which ISN'T happening) she has achieved the aim of it already. Once again she has the middle finger upward, head cocked back and laughing with that gap toothed grin at the haters who dared doubt her.

  19. because no matter how much people laugh at Mariah's crazed fans... truth is EVERY artist has them and they ALL buy multiple copies of singles/albums

people just want their fave artists to do well and appear popular to the general masses

    record companies LOVE the LOONS

I have to say I've never seen it as organized as it is with the lambs. SHE even encourages them to do it. I would turn in my fan card if Madonna EVER pulled some shit like that....it's PATHETIC! But yes ALL artists (especially divas) have the fans that will buy multiple copies but the lambs take it to a WHOLE 'NOTHER LEVEL!!
