  1. Really??? That eff'n sucks!!!!!!!!! :(

What the hell are the lambs doing? Setting up a bazillion accounts? And what about requesting the song online at local stations? Do they know it's the same computer?

Do trust and believe the lambs will stop at NOTHING to get their diva her number ones!!

It's so awesome to go to the itunes page and see her number one everywhere....Madonna has taken over US Itunes!! I never thought I'd get to say that...lol. Even stranger is seeing her doing so well here and then looking at the UK stats...WOW! How the tide seems to have turned. I know it's still very early in the game but she seems to be REALLY kicking ass here for once, hopefully it will pick up in the UK. Number one on BB Hot 100 actually seems like a REAL possibility at this point, that popularity bar just keeps growing and growing!!! BEAT THOSE LITTLE 20 YO BITCHES ASSES MADGE!!!

  2. I sure hope you're right! I'll go CRAZY if 4Min hits #1! Like you don't even know... I'm already planning on using that shoe polish stuff, that people use to write For Sale on their car windows.. except, I'm going to write something letting people know when the release date for Hard Candy is!! ahhaha..

I work at Starbucks and I tell EVERY customer to go on iTunes and download 4 Minutes. lol

    :lmao:

How very "lamb" of you! But it's all good! :) Free promo for Madonna is ALWAYS a good thing!!

  3. I'd love to think that, but having a lower airplay than her competitors it seems very difficult

Not to be a downer, but I agree with you. The good thing is, it has continuously risen in AI since it's release which is quite phenomenal in itself as songs typically fluctuate a bit. The airplay is going to HAVE to go up a lot though, I don't see the sales being too much higher than they were last week at 217,000....that is going to be a hard number to beat! Then again though, I never thought the song would rise so quickly and honestly I didn't think it would get to #3 although I did think it would be Top 10. So.....it's not delusional to think it will at this point (as opposed to a week ago even...it sounded like loon fan talk) but I certainly wouldn't bet money on it! Madonna's got some pretty stiff competition. It looks like Leona is resurging and while Mariah may fall just a little the next couple weeks, as soon as she appears on Idol, I'm pretty sure TMB will rise again.

  4. I'm not super familiar with the UK charts but even IF it has peaked already at the number 7 position, is that really BAD in the UK?? I know HU #7 peak in the US wasn't stellar but going top ten in the States is considered GOOD! It seems in the UK unless you make number one your song is considered a flop, even number 2 doesn't seem good enough. What's the deal with that??

  5. It's true. I'm not sure it will outperform COADF.

I was thinking the same thing. In just 2 1/2 years everything has changed so much. It's bad when 1.7 milliion seems VERY GOOD! I hope it can at least equal COADF total. I still think radio will embrace this more (at least 4M moreso than HU) but as we have seen that doesn't neccesarily translate into album sales unfortunately. Rihanna is a prime example of that.

  6. Apparently Power 106 (urban station) debuted it yesterday and cut off the song by 1.5 minutes because they were disgusted by it. But then it's not very likely urban stations will embrace the song.

I really don't like to sound this way, but I must call it as I see it. Perhaps if Madonna were a few shades darker and a few years younger they wouldn't be "disgusted" by it. I NEVER foresee urban radio embracing Madonna no matter who she works with.

  7. OMG! Michael Jackson THIS close to sell more than her little sister! :rosie:

I'm a Janet fan but that is kind of funny, poor JJ I was really hoping she would bounce back big with this. It ain't ova til it's ova...but...yeah...

Why the 20% spike in sales for MJ??

  8. Janet's problem is just her utter lack of authenticity... I do like much of her music, but 20 years ago she seemed to actually have a message and something she stood for. Now, it's just... well, what is there in her personality or her music that you can really connect with beyond potentially a good beat?

I think 3 strikes are enough to pretty much seal her fate, I don't think she's going to genuinely come back.

    :(

She's my second favorite diva of all time and I REALLY do enjoy this album. I hope the tide turns for her somehow, but it does look pretty dire. It seems she will never be forgiven for the SB incident.

  9. I'm 100% confident this will do better than HU in airplay and sales, so it should definitely peak higher. My prediction is Top 5. However this is still MADONNA we are talking about, I'm not really counting on a number one. The DJ's are too fucking biased, that probably hasn't changed too much. HU they could kind of get away with ignoring a bit because the style wasn't exactly typical Top 40 fare and the general public find Euro-pop/dance music cheesy and for gay people....I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true. I really think this one will legitimately be liked by more people so they will have no choice to play it. No way it will have Mariah/Usher numbers though...lol....not in a million years! I haven't felt this confident in a Madonna song doing well on the Hot 100 since hearing Music for the first time, although I didn't think it would hit number one either.

  10. I can't believe Hannah Montana will be the female of the year and not Queen Fergie.

    :zombie::americanlife:

Look at the bright side, at this time next year those same kids that HAD to have the Hannah Montana CD this year, will probably be embarrassed to let anybody know they have it at this time next year. Fortunately the shelf life for garbage like that isn't very long.....but then again, Britney still has a career (by the skin of her teeth) 8 years in and she's garbage so....

    :queenbitch:

    :swordplay:

  11. I'll never understand why people think it's an incredible diss to have a predominantly gay fanbase. Explain.

Probably because once that happens it's a sure sign that you aren't as commercially "hot" as you once were. Madonna is still on top of the world, but she's not selling LAV and TB like numbers back when the teen girls wanted to be her and the teen guys wanted to fuck her. I'm sure the crowd at a 1987 Madonna show is a lot different than the crowd during last years show. Gays are known for great taste, but were also known to like kitschy, campy stuff that people outside of our world don't take seriously. I guess it feels good to know that your idol appeals to EVERYONE instead of just 1 certain group. I don't know....that's just my theory on it... :dazed:

  12. Nighter, Spears has had a few singles that were decent- I don't think the album Greatest Hits: My Prerogative hold quite the same cultural esteem as, oh, I dunno, an Immaculate Collection. :) She def. was the "It Girl" for the time she was hot, but the music doesn't cut it for how big a star she reached. Like said, she is so buzzed-about now because of her hot mess of a personal live, not for what she does in the work.

Kurt, if you download a track individually, it counts toward Digital Songs, not album sales.

lol....yeah, I thought about what I asked after I asked it and read this weeks chart tallies . What I meant though is if I download the whole Blackout album for example, will Gimme More get a sale since Gimme More is on the album....if that were the case though, each song would have sold more and been higher placed on the charts.....FLOP QUESTION..... :banghead:

  13. everyone knows my opinions on Britney, but I wouldn't say she's flopping. She's been around nine years now.... nine years ago people likened her to a modern day Debbie Gibson. Debbie wasn't even cracking the top 200 nine years into her career, yet Britney can still open with nearly 300k? I'd say she's doing okay considering all of the negative criticism she's getting. I remember right after the VMA performance, there were articles saying that it's official that you can call Britney a "former" pop star, and yet she can still do almost 300k? Not bad considering she is half-assing her career right now

Exactly! The media is going to spin this to make it look like Britney flopped. But 300k is nothing to sniff at either, especially for someone who is getting negative press virtually every single day. I always thought that the Eagles would be a threat to her when I heard they had an album coming out at the same time. I wasn't aware until the past week that they would only be selling it in Wal-Mart, thus making it ineligible to chart (at the time anyways). You just can't ignore 700k though, if Billboard hadn't decided to make it eligible there credibility (or what's left of it) would've been seriously compromised.

  14. I was expecting Juanes to go Top 10, like Mana and Luis Miguel or *gasp* RBD

Did J.Lo's Spanish album had bigger first-week sales than Juanes? That'd be a travesty!

OMG did RBD go top ten in the States!?!? I had never heard of them until I came to Puerto Rico to live part time and they are massive here. My boyfriend loves that teeny-bopper shit and he adores them, he actually bought tickets to go see them  ........but I think he realized he'd be the only one over 13 so he gave the tickets away...lol....not only that, but I wasn't about to go to an RBD concert. :noway:

  15.

Henz you rock! I enjoyed reading this and all who contributed did a great job. There were some surprises in there....I also had no idea Get Together was that loved. Kind of surprised about Die Another Day too, it seems upon release it wasn't really a favorite of many. Also looking at the Top 40 I'm utterly shocked Take A Bow made it in there.

:inlove: at Borderline making the Top 25

  16. i disagree. Pam A. is way too experienced and overexposed but str8 men keep dreaming of her. I think madonna is no longer hot because she is OLD. Her face is OLD. Her body is like a MAN's. She doesnt look feminine at all. I asked many str8 friends of mine and they all said the same things.

MADONNA IS NOT HOT ANYMORE. SHE JUST LOOKS OK FOR HER AGE.

Pamela A. was always a more attainable fantasy for a straight man. She's always had soft features, been slightly curvaceous and Pam isn't quite as outspoken publicly about things as Madonna is, so she's not as threatening AND she was a Playboy Bunny....what straight man wouldn't want one of those? The ONLY time I think straight guys had a "hard-on" for Madonna was her Virgin years. She was softer, more curvaceous, while she was aggressive....she wasn't over the top with it, at that point most didn't realize just HOW tough and smart she was, so therefore she was perfect wank fodder. Even moreso than in the SEX era I would argue, simply because she seemed like a REAL girl. By SEX her body was harder, many knew she wasn't some stupid bimbo singing LAV....it was well known she was tough and had bigger "balls" than most men.

I don't think Madonna has ever been "HOT", she has certainly had moments of hotness, but she's just SEXY. I think her sex appeal came as natural to her as being right handed or left handed does for most people, so it will ALWAYS be there, even when she's 80. I'd be willing to bet your str8 friends would've said the same thing about her in 1993 that they are now, especially after she cut her hair for GS. Saying she looks "just ok" for her age is just an untrue statement.....it's not even a matter of opinion. Anybody who says that, never found her that attractive to begin with because for HER AGE she looks phenomenal.

  17. New RIAA certifications:

    Hannah Montana 2 2xp

    High School Musical 2 2xp

    Nickelback 7xp

    Colbie Calliat Gold

Not that any of the albums listed deserved to sell what they have, but this is just disgusting. Nickelback better thank their lucky stars for Wal-Mart, Nascar lovin rednecks!! :)

  18. Maybe they would sell better if they weren't always hidden behind Beyonce or whoever in the featured sections. *sigh*

I noticed that too. I finally picked up a copy of the remastered "Like A Virgin". They only had 2 copies of that and maybe one other album. On the bright side, a record store in Richmond, VA has a stock pile of every Madonna album and Maxi-single. Very cool to browse through.

What store in Richmond, VA has every maxi-single and album?

  19. But Music is indeed better than this, the Hey Mr. DJ part is LEGENDARY, there's nothing that iconic on TBGO.

Oh yes Alex! I hope my post doesn't imply that I think TBGO is equal to Music, because I don't think so. I was just making an observation in general, not neccesarily about TBGO. I've just noticed this same scenario seems to happen over and over even when she releases new stuff, whether it be brilliant or atrocious.

  20. At my local station, "Music" got the same reaction in a "Hit or Miss" segment, where people had to ring in and indicate whether they thought it would be a hit or a miss. Overwhelming "miss" vote....then it went on to become the 4th biggest selling single of the year in the country :)

Yes, my local radio station did the same sort of thing when it came out, instead of "hit or miss" it was "Q it or Screw it". The majority said "screw it". I'm sure a month later when it was all over MTV and radio they were dancing their asses off to it like everybody else. It seems like Madonna has been a guilty pleasure of sorts since the Erotica backlash (maybe even before that). Nobody wants to admit they like her, yet somebody besides us diehards have kept her on top for 25 years.
