  1. I love how all these articles (and the one from RIT) all desperately try to spin the tour(s) as flops, but then in the same article at some point you will read "but it's on track to become the highest grossing tour of the year." LOL

And what a FLOP "flop article" by the NY Post yesterday, my gosh. If anything that just confirmed how great the tour is doing so far.

OH NO....Madonna "only" sold 40,000 tix instead of 50,000.....she's done!! LOL She's "only" going to increase her gross from the last tour by $50 million instead of it increasing to $100 million over the last tour....OMG!! FLOP FLOP FLOP :dramatic: BUT it's still going to be the highest grossing tour by a female artist ever....breaking her own record. :lmao:

  2. She has good songs. Many songs of her album are better than songs on Hard Candy.

But Alexz NOOOO Robyn song is better than ANY song on ANY of Madonna's albums!!! :electropop:

I guess With Every Heartbeat is decent enough......but I NEVER liked her music. EVER. Even her late 90's hits I never got into. She was just too generic for me. While I never really lumped her into the "tween" category she gave me that same nasty feeling inside that I get when I hear BSB and most old Britney.... :vomit:

  3. Where are all the people who were saying in the other thread what a talentless troll with no good songs Robyn is? SPEAK UP I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

Robyn isn't talentless....she can sing. But good songs?? LOL Not so much. Madonna knows her audience though. Any run of the mill dance diva will do. She could've gotten Kristine W out there to open and inevitably a handful of fags would have to be taken out on stretchers from fainting from the exthitment of theeing KRISTINE W....OMG!! I LOOOOOOVE danthing to her songths in the club!!

    This should be no different.

  4. http://home.comcast.net/~w.ingram/TOP40-86.TXT

there u go luv. I think this is "just" what youre lookin for!! well its the top 40, opposed to Hot 100. Pretty damn close and as much as I could do to fulfill ur wish lol! all u need to do is change the year (eg:86, to any two digit year u want) and youll be royally hooked up! :). I choose the year "86" for the link for obvious M related reasons hehe

Thank you very much! I will be up all night now! :)

  5. Oh yes of course..the objective sensible fan... of course it has to be something to do with the tour being OVERWHELMINGLY successful in europe for the extra dates to be added in

You don't keep adding more and more shows when your tour is "bombing". What sense would that make? If they can't sell the tickets for the shows that are already on sale, why add more dates that aren't going to sell?? You mention Houston.....you do realize that selling out that stadium (which it is pretty damn close at this point) is the equivalent to selling out about 3 nights in an arena right? If you are going to try to spin it at least use Philly and Boston where ticket sales are slower (reportedly).....of course she's been to both of those places 3 TIMES in the past 7 years for MULTIPLE dates. Playing to roughly 90,000-100,000 people each tour in each city when you add all dates together. It's just unreasonable to expect her to do that in the same markets over and over and over every 2 years....unless we are talking somewhere like NYC, where she is having no problems.

You so desperately want to spin this as being a failure. Your "arguments" are hanging by a thread at this point. Enjoy the fun now, in a couple of months it will be impossible for you to spin this because the numbers will be laid out for all to see and you just WON'T be able to spin it without sounding like a complete loon or moron. As the BB article released today said.....she will end up breaking her own record that she set on CT. How are you going to spin that one?

  6. Am I the only one who likes the rock version of "Hung Up"? ;)

No, I like it too. But I love when she goes all "rock chick". I don't understand how some already want her to retire this song as it's only been sung on one tour. As diehard fans we may be tired of it because most of us have seen every single performance she's done of this song....EMA's, TV shows during COADF promo, Grammy's, Coachella etc. but the general public doesn't watch every single thing she does like we do.

As far as Music goes, I think she should do it. It's one of her only "modern" classics. ROL has been done on 2 out of the last 3 tours so leaving that out this time would be fine.

  7. Too funny I have that on right now.

EY is my fav M song but I have long given up on it ever having the attitude of the video/MTV VMAs ever again (didn't care for it on Girlie Show either).

Yeah, it's unlikely that '89 VMA performance of EY will ever be outdone if she chose to perform it again. Stone me now RIT lovers...lol....but many of her older songs on RIT seemed kind of half hearted....LAP, EY, MG, ITG.....like she didn't want to really be doing them. That said though, the tour is still fab and is leaps and bounds ahead of most artists tours. But she seemed to be so much more into it on CT, even the oldies on that one she seemed to enjoy performing. LAV was GREAT and I know how much she hates that song! lol

  8. Borderline and Open Your Heart are a must! but i want her feeling confortable by doing it. not some lazy shit

last time she felt 'obliged' to do a song we got the crap Material Girl RIT performance. no comment

And the half-hearted EY. Maybe it's just the RIT bootleg that I have (June 24th MSG) but I swear during EY she looked like she'd rather be doing ANYTHING but singing that song.

  9. Open Your Heart needs to not be in consideration but DEFINITE!!! COME ON MADONNA! We need Borderline too, but I know she's not fond of that one so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets cut....but OYH....is a MUST. What else is she going to perform from TB?? Another methed up version of LIB...NOOOO!!

Also Incredible is a must, but I can imagine it would be hard to pull off live.

I'm sure all of this gossip will lead up to a bunch of nothing as is usually the case this early on. But this is part of the fun!! :)

  10. FANTASTIC! This was one of the first shows rumoured, and it also enforces the chances of that Athens concert that's been rumoured forever in that timeframe. She should still do Zagreb - or Budapest though since there's so few Euro dates this time.

oh come now.. she will enter that phase within the next 10 years, but it was a marginal factor IF AT ALL in her 40's

The only reason I say that is because I actually heard people saying it at her shows. In fact a girl I was talking with at a CT show asked me if I thought this would be the last time she toured. I think most of us diehards know better, but the general public thinks "45 years old....bitch is old....this could be the last time she tours."

  11. I don't think that there is a Madonna album with higher soundscan sales than its RIAA certification. If HC scans 1M they will certify it platinum, maybe not at once but eventually. Ok, we can assume that they won't certify it for less, like they did with American Life. And it is too early to consider 1M completely improbable. With one more at least moderate hit (like Top 40 in airplay) it could happen.

Actually COADF has actually sold close to 1.7 million but is only certified at 1 million.

  12. 4M is selling itself just fine- whether it's selling the album, that's another story.

I highly doubt without the success of 4M HC would still be in the Top 15 of the album charts. AL's trajectory would be a more likely scenario at this point. It's fair to say it's at least stabilizing the album no?

  13. question.

why do her shows no longer sell out as fast as they used to be?

Well, this is the 4th time in 7 years that she'll be going to a lot of the same markets. Look at Denver who has never seen her at all and they have a 2nd night added (pretty impressive for a "smaller" market). Look at NYC they have probably had somewhere around 17 or 18 shows in the past 7 years (if you add all the dates of the previous tours) yet she still has managed to have a 4th night added there. I think before a lot of people assumed because of her age that they better go and see her because "this may be the last time she tours again". Now, it looks like she has no signs of slowing down. Also, undoubtedly the economy may play a role in this too. A lot of people just DO NOT have $350 to piss away on a concert right now. Not sure if people outside the US fully realize but it's BAD here right now.

Personally I think she should've skipped Philly and Boston this time. Between those two cities didn't she do 5 or 6 shows only 2 years ago?? I mean those are big markets but not HUGE ala NYC or LA so why go to those places EVERY SINGLE TIME. She should've done DC (since she missed them last tour) and also did Detroit (she hasn't been there since DWT). Good to see she's doing SOMEWHERE in the south (Atlanta) besides south Florida this time though.

  14. At least no-one need ever feel guilty about illegally downloading any Madonna music in future.

She supports shady, business practices like the Stubhub deal so she can hardly expect her fans or the general public to actually PAY for her music anymore.

Hmmm....interesting. Maybe that's what SHE was thinking when she made this deal. "Well....they all steal my music anyways so fuck them....let's do this deal!" So since a good percentage of her music gets stolen these days she should expect the general public to actually PAY more for the live experience? I wonder if the people who steal her music feel guilty?

All of this assumption.....you, I....NOBODY knows the in's and out's of this deal. Unless you happened to be sitting in when the deal was made?? Like I said most people here have bought their tickets (and are satisfied) through normal means AS ALWAYS.

  15. MJ!!! KING OF POP ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!!! :electropop:

Really though.....for no new music in 7 years and with his VERY VERY tarnished rep that is quite impressive! For all the disses he gets I honestly think that if he were to release an album of new material it's performance would probably shock the hell out of everybody.

  16. I WANT FLOOR SEATS AT NORMAL PRICE GODDAMNIT!!!!!

Will they sell for a more normal price between 350 or 400 once the show dates get closer?

I know for the past couple of tours everybody said that great seats were released through ticketmaster a couple weeks before the show, so you may want to check then. Also, I remember last time around people mentioning the scalpers on ebay had to drastically drop their inflated ticket prices because they simply weren't selling them as they thought they would (whether they were dropped to face value I'm not too sure of...perhaps someone else can clarify). So, if this tour is the major flop that everyone is saying, you should be able to get decent seats at face prices closer to the show date without any problems. Apparently the reports of "sellouts", the fact that you can't find decent seats at the moment through ticketmaster and the fact that they keep adding dates is all an illusion.....some sort of grand scheme perhaps to make everybody THINK demand is high so more people will buy I guess.....that's what they say anyways.

  17. At this point, the only thing Im dreading is WBR might certify HC as gold...

    I would hate that.

If the certify 1 million- then this sales of this cd is moot.

Because after all said and done, RIAA numbers is what counts.

her total after this should be 64m or 65m- 7 million from Big Nose for being the best selling female in america.

    and that good!

I was thinking about this too. Maybe someone can clear it up better. But I would think that if they certify it Gold that would mean 500,000 copies were sent to stores to be sold. Well, it's almost at 500,000 on the nose actually sold, so if they only sent 500,000 that means there would be no copies left right? So that means that they would have to ship out more copies to be sold, which means if they certify it would HAVE to be platinum right??

    Can anybody clear this up?

Sticky and Sweet: Madonna Tickets top the charts

    Mon, Jun 2nd 2008 1:07 pm EST

    By Sarah Pyzynski

Madonna tickets outsold all other competition for the week of May 26 - June 1, 2008, according to TicketNews's exclusive weekly rankings. With a power score of 7.85, the Material Girl climbed from third place to become the overall top event for this week. Though Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour will not kick off until August, tickets to see the Queen of Pop are already selling out across the country.

Other Top Events this week included the hit musical Wicked, up two positions to second place with a power score of 4.70; the Los Angeles Lakers, who leapt from eighteenth place to third place with a power score of 3.05; and the Boston Celtics, who climbed six positions to fourth place and finished with a 2.87 power score. American Idols Live! tickets slipped three places to end in fifth place with a power score of 2.58, and the New York Yankees climbed one spot to sixth place with a 2.39 power score. Other chart-toppers included Tina Turner, who fell all the way to seventh place from her first place finish last week and earned a power score of 2.31, and Jersey Boys, which earned a power score of 2.28 and climbed three places to eighth place this week.

The Los Angeles Lakers, with a power score of 9.08, climbed eight positions this week to become the Top Sports Event. After defeating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 on May 29, the Lakers have advanced to the NBA Finals, which begin on Thursday, June 5. The Boston Celtics, who clinched their NBA Finals position by defeating the Detroit Pistons in Game 6 on Friday, May 30, earned a second place finish on the Top Sports Events chart with a power score of 8.55. The New York Yankees held steady in third place this week with a power score of 7.11, and were followed by the Boston Red Sox, who climbed a position to fourth place and earned a power score of 5.67.

The Top Broadway and Top Theater events this week included "Wicked," "Jersey Boys," South Pacific, and Lion King, which finished in first through fourth place on both charts this week. Elton John's The Red Piano placed fifth on the Top Theater Events list with a power score of 5.15, and was followed by Phantom of the Opera, which fell a position to sixth place with a power score of 2.96. On the Top Broadway Events list, however, "Phantom" climbed two positions to fifth place with a 2.89 score, and was followed by the Little Mermaid, which fell one place to sixth and earned a 2.54 power score.

Madonna's massive 15.20 power score guaranteed her a first place finish on the Top Concert Events chart for this week. The American Idols Live! tour managed to maintain a second place position with a power score of 5.00, and Tina Turner followed in third place with a 4.48 power score. The Jonas Brothers sidled up from ninth place to fourth with a 2.82 power score, and Kenny Chesney maintained his fifth place spot with a 2.46 power score.

Bette Midler ascended to first place on the Top Las Vegas Events list with a massive 45.81 power score. Cher fell a position to second with a power score of 28.89, and Elton John remained in third with a power score of 12.49. Cirque du Soleil - The Beatles: LOVE climbed a place to fourth with a power score of 1.89, and Phantom the Las Vegas Spectacular jumped up three positions to finish in fifth place with a power score of 1.76.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales from the TicketNetwork Exchangeâ„¢, the world's largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given event's category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales from the given event and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare events within a particular category.

Love how this is getting ignored completely. Yeah, it ain't over til we see the receipts, but all signs thus far are pointing to yet another smash tour for our gal.....despite the.....*tries not to burst out in hysterical laughter* HUUUUGE BACKLASH :chuckle: FLOP TOUR?? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

    Thanks for posting candylipsgirl!

  19. You've seen and heard how upset fans have been with Madonna recently..I think this is damaging Madonna at her fanbase rather than the general public who seem to be a little more objective and realistic when it comes to Madonna. I don't think the general public could give two shits about what Madonna does she already has a reputation of being a greedy capatalist.

Exactly! Which is why in the long run NONE of this is going to matter. Nobody here even knows the in's and out's of this business deal, whether you are for or against it, ALL of us are making assumptions. I don't know that she's not giving her best seats to StubHub to sell at triple the face value. Just like you don't know that she is. All I can tell you is I and many others have gotten great seats at face value just like I always have done. The ticket buying process for me with this tour has been the EXACT same as it was for the last 3.

  20. My favourite thread of all, lets keep this bashing alive no need to stop now my little deers hehehehe. Backlash backlash backlash!!

Sorry to break the news, but the backlash is only in you (and a handful of others) heads. Most of the general public and casual fans don't even know about this StubHub thing.....and if they did, they probably wouldn't give a fuck anyways. She has to piss off WAY more people than a handful of fans that post on message boards devoted to her to have a true backlash. Once the tour kicks off even the diehard fans aren't going to care about this.
