  1. but its so true

she is as fake as her cheeks :rotfl:

    OMG....you can't be serious...lol :dramatic:

I don't know if she's fake personally....doesn't seem like she would be, but I think your confusing being "fake" with her constantly evolving. A lot of people (usually her detractors NOT HER FANS) have said that she's fake over the years simply because you seemingly never get to know the "current Madonna" too well because by the time you've become acquainted, she's changed again. Dear, that's not called fake that's called being a PERFORMER! :)

Would you consider David Bowie fake as well?

You say fake and then the one thing that HAS actually tried to be consistent with as far as maturing as an artist, is her interest in guitar playing. But then you tear it apart and don't want her to do it! What's up with all that Nes?? :)

  2. The tour was scheduled to being at 20:30. She has 40 minutes late. And I didn't hear a single boo because she was late, it was because some eejits on the upper sections failed to make the Mexican wave. Oh, the press is SO dumb sometimes :manson:

Fantastic night by the way. I will post my report later when I'm fully recovered :hafo:

I've seen Madonna 5 times so far and not ONCE has she came out at the time my ticket said. In fact, many people are just entering the venue and getting goodies at around the time the shows are supposed to start. I thought it was pretty much common knowledge....apparently not though! lol In fact most concerts by other major artists I've been to don't start at the time on the ticket either, it's always 30 min to 1 hour later.

Glad you had fun, can't wait to read your review!

  3. Hahaha. No I didn't get tickets. If I had tickets I guess I would go but with very very low expectations. I am completely underwhelmed. God I love the choreography for Vogue though, it is so hot.

    Damn! lol

Can't blame someone for tryin huh?? :)

Well, hopefully when you see it on the DVD (assuming we GET a DVD) you'll like it more!

And yeah, Vogue looks like it's to die for. One of the best ones amazingly....after all these years.

  4. This tour stinks.

    Awww....can't please everybody I guess. :(

I hope you didn't get tickets! And if you did, you could be a good fan and just GIVE them to me since the show is so bad. Wouldn't you feel bad selling overpriced tickets to a fellow fan to such a bad show?? C'mon gain some karma points!! :)

  5. So much soul in her voice! She sings like she means it. :)

    I am so excited!

YES!! That's one of the only things I was worried about is that she would kind of sing it just to get through it, like she did (IMO) on some of her oldies on the RIT (see EY). But she sounds like she just wrote the song yesterday and is FEELIN it!! LOVE IT! Who woulda though Borderline would work so well as a rock track??

HG you LOVE you some Borderline huh?

Cute! Love how you called it that "old chestnut" in another thread. :)

  6. love it!!! you know with confessions, i felt like she had returned to having fun after dwt and rit. seeing these clips is giving me the impression that 99% of this show is just feel good sexy fun. im getting more and more excited as these clips come in.

Exactly!! CT was definitely a fun show, but like the album (IMO) it also had a dark undertone to it as well. Which worked BRILLIANTLY for that tour, I'm not dissing it any way.

But this as you said just looks like a feel good time....sexy....colorful....playful. The spirit of 80's Madonna is coming through my computer screen and slapping me in the face with these clips. Truly, she hasn't been this playful on stage in a long time!! LOVIN IT!!

The more I see it the more I'm feeling like it's a blend of the "playfulness" of VT the "rock star" quality of the WTG tour with a bit of the theatrics from the BAT while the use of screens and the stage in general are reminiscent of her more recent tours.....and I guess the boxing could be GS?? lol

I know it's waaaay too early to be making assumptions like this, but based on what I've seen thus far that's what I think. Just can't wait until I get to see this show!!

  7. :dramatic::dramatic::dramatic::dramatic::dramatic:

JUST OMG OMG OMG!!! AT EVERYTHING I'VE SEEN IN THESE CLIPS SO FAR!!!!!

That ending to SNM just......ohhhh....... :dramatic:

I don't think I can wait until October!!!

Just look at her! I mean seriously, has she EVER looked this fucking great on tour?? And that pic of her (not in this thread) during Borderline (I think) with the guitar in her hand and her leg kicked up.....FUCKING ICONIC!!!!!

    Just one more:

    :dramatic:

    *FAINTS*

  8. NICE!

I love when she is political in her shows but I really hope (and think) that she's going to lay off of the deep messages this time, which is a good thing....it's all about having fun and dancing this time. From the reports we've gotten and the looks of these pics it all looks to be very lighthearted.

    Can't wait til October!!!

  9. Well, the quality doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the sales- keep in kind sales are lower nowadays, too.

If the album's still on the chart by the time the tour hits America (may not be), that could stabilize sales (whereever level they'll be at that point).

Is it safe to say that if it weren't for CT, COADF wouldn't have lasted as long as it did on the BB 200? If memory serves me correct, the album fell off the chart the week after the US leg of the tour was done, no?

  10. I fail to see what is so innovative about her stages. Its a plain flat stage with screens that rise and fall, and platforms that rise and fall. None of that is innovative. There is so much that can be done stage wise that isn't being taken advantage of, all one needs to do is think outside the box. She has resorted to the same tricks for the past 3 tours in terms of stage design. The screens aren't anything innovative, everyone uses them. None of the things you listed are innovative because they have been around for a LONG time.

The reason why 'EVERYONE' does similar stage design for their concerts is because Jamie Queen the mediocre choreographer and faux art director is responsible for designing most of them, just recycling what he did for Madonna for theirs. His stage designs are architecturally simple and technically/artistically nothing to write home about.

If anything the only things innovative about her shows are Steven Klein's videos. But that has nothing to do with the actual stage itself, and the overall visual strength of her concerts relies too heavily on his work imo.

    Now THIS is innovative

I think Dr. Lecter was moreso referencing her stages from the early 90's as being innovative. But DAMNIT....innovative or not the past 3 tours have been entertaining and spectacles in themselves. Far more intricate than MOST pop shows. Have you not enjoyed them because they weren't innovative enough or something?? I mean if you feel that your money was wasted on the last few tours because a real life cannon wasn't brought on stage that Madonna shot out of then stuck her to the ceiling and sang Holiday then it's probably best you not attend this one. Because YES....it probably will be similar in design to her last 3 since King is in charge. Lots of videos etc.

Why not just enjoy the show instead worrying about how innovative it is?? Sorry to generalize, but only a complete prude or someone who just flat out doesn't like Madonna wouldn't enjoy one of her shows.

  11. I am sad about impressive instant I was really looking forward to that. Oh well it will still be great

Me too! But I'm more forgiving since it's being replaced with the brilliance that is LAP. Now if she had replaced it with some crap like Love Makes The World Go Round or Nothing Fails I would've been HEATED!! :americanlife:

  12. Wow...here we are just about 3 weeks away from opening night and we STILL don't know the stage. They have done a good job of keeping things under wraps for this tour. Watch the bitch have different stages for different size venues or something crazy like that! :dramatic:

That Detroit stage looks pretty cool though. The Spice Girls had their "mixing station" in front of their catwalk as well and it didn't seem to pose too big of a problem, of course I was behind it on the first level so I guess I wouldn't have noticed as much.

  13. RIT had a lot more Immaculate Collection-era material (11, including The Beast Within, 8 that actually appeared on that album). This tour only has 5 total, so not exactly a RIT-like list. :) Confessions Tour had 4 IC-era hits.

Kurt, how can you not cite "Borderline" when saying how your excitement level has grown? :gent:

OMG!! YES!! How could I forget Borderline?? Revoke my fan card for that one! I'm definitely looking forward to that one, it's been way too long. One of her best songs ever and her best video of the 80's! I hope they keep that intro in the "reinvented" version!!

  14. Kanye doesn't guarantee hits when he's featuring on a song. Can we PLEASE debunk this myth like NOW??:

    Twista- Slow Jamz 1

    Dialated Peoples- This Way 78

    Cam'ron- Down & Out 94

Brandy- Talk About Our Love 36

    Slum Village- Selfish 55

Keyshia Cole- I Changed My Mind 71

    Common- The Corner DIDN'T CHART

    Jamie Foxx- Extravaganza DIDN'T CHART

    Common- Go! 79

DJ Khaled- Grammy Family DIDN'T CHART

    Pharrell- Number One 57

The Game- Wouldn't Get Far 64

Kid Sister- Pro Nails DIDN'T CHART

DJ Felli Fel- Finer Things DIDN'T CHART

    Estelle- American Boy 16

    Young Jeezy- Put On 24

And mind you a lot of these acts are "hot" rappers/R&B artists themselves and had Kanye on the track and still didn't muster up high chart positions. So if you consider making the Hot 100 AT ALL a "hit" for Madonna these days then YES maybe he would help her do that. But Top 10 or number 1 probably NOT!

    Justin as a featured artist.....

    Nelly- Work It 68

Black Eyed Peas- Where Is The Love? 8

    Snoop Dogg- Signs 46

Timbaland- Give It To Me 1

    50 Cent- Ayo Technology 5

Reba McEntire- The Only Promise That Remains DIDN'T CHART

Duran Duran- Falling Down DIDN'T CHART

    Timbaland- Release 91

    Madonna- 4 Minutes 3

    Timbaland as a featured artist....

Aaliyah- Are You That Somebody 21

Destiny's Child- Get On The Bus DIDN'T CHART

Aaliyah- We Need A Resolution 59

    Bubba Sparxxx- Ugly 15

    Brandy- Who Is She 2 U 85

    Nelly Furtado- Promiscuous 1

    Justin Timberlake- SexyBack 1

Pussycat Dolls- Wait A Minute 28

    Omarion- Ice Box 12

    Bobby Valentino- Anonymous 49

    50 Cent- Ayo Technology 5

Justin Timberlake- Chop Me Up DIDN'T CHART

    Flo Rida- Elevator 16

    Madonna- 4 Minutes 3

    M. Pokora- Dangerous DIDN'T CHART

Keri Hilson- Return The Favor DIDN'T CHART

Duran Duran- Nite Runner DIDN'T CHART

Sebastian- Hey Lil Lady DIDN'T CHART

Duran Duran- Skin Divers DIDN'T CHART

Oh my!! Did Madonna give Timbaland the kiss of death?? lol

People are quick to say that without Timbo or Justin Madonna wouldn't have been as successful with her lead off single, which is probably true. But looking at the stats of other artists that had them featuring on their singles, only a handful have been more successful than 4 Minutes. So, it's quite clear they ALL helped each other out a bit.

  15. I hate to be put in a position to defend Mariah but how can you call her a flop? Yes in comparison to her last album, but who actually thought she was going to be able to match that success 3 years later?? That will probably be the last time in her career she will see numbers like that.

Bottom line is she has one of the top selling CD's of the year in the US (the number 2 if I'm not mistaken) and it has produced 2 Top 20 "hits" one of those going to number one. As chart and sales obsessed as she and her fans supposedly are then yeah.....THEY may be disappointed but in the grand scheme of things she's actually doing pretty damn good. When the "glass ceiling" so far this year is under 2.5 million and she's done 1.1 million.....sorry I call that a success!

The music industry is a FLOP not Mariah.

  16. While excellent songs, BS and HN aren't really humable or songs you get stuck in your head, which probably explains the lack of interest at radio.

Exactly! Great as they are, catchy is one thing they are not. Brave indeed on her part to go with those choices when some radio stations had already started spinning the much catchier, radio friendly Don't Stop (at least in my area) then that stopped once I guess they realized that wasn't the next single....oops....so they very briefly played a radio remix of BS, which didn't go over well. They then tried DS again (they REALLY wanted this as a single...lol) around the time HN was released and they did actually have DS on mini-rotation (more than they played BS anyways) during the time HN was ascending on the charts.....yet I never heard HN at all on pop radio. I did hear it once on an urban station in my area though at that time, which shocked me.

See in a perfect world Take A Bow would've been followed by Don't Stop (shut your clueless mouths....the song is CATCHY and easily digestable....kinda like 4M which you all hated too) followed by Forbidden Love which really IMO could've went either way....but Babyface was gold then so it would've at least held up long enough for (and been the perfect bridge to....) STR and the release of You'll See to launch it. With two more legitimate HITS, BS albums sales would be pushing 4 million and STR would've been off to a great start AND she could've done IWY as the second release!! :dramatic: What WAS the point of releasing LDLHA anyways?? lol

  17. When a video gets RAVE reviews and everyone talking.....people are interested in seeing it...fans and non-fans......ok it does nt gaurantee airplay but theres a HUGE chance it could do......

It is in my opinion that in 2008 a grand or even decent video won't make a hit song like the old days. If anything it's the other way around....if radio is playing your song it will get played like 2 times on MTV per week (which is HUGE numbers for them) and since more people are hearing it on the radio more people are likely to search for it on youtube to watch it.

In the case of GI2M, nobody has heard the song since radio won't give it a shot so therefore MTV certainly won't play it so therefore since people barely know of it's existance, the youtube hits probably aren't going to be as high.

Videos certainly are not as important as they used to be.

  18. Its funny. Just to show you how dead MTV has become, I hear so many hit songs on the radio right now, and I for the hell of me coudlnt even tell you what the music video to these songs looks like. Hell. I couldnt even tell you what some of these new artists in general look like. Being that I was born in 82 and MTV has always been around, I now know what it feels like to have to put your own visual to a damn hit song.

And judging by the few videos I have seen on MTV or youtube that is actually a very good thing! lol
