  1. Trump shares video with image depicting Biden tied up in the back of a pickup truck

The former president has previously used violent images and rhetoric as he seeks a return to the White House.

Former President Donald Trump shared a video on social media Friday that included an image of President Joe Biden bound and restrained in the back of a pickup truck.

The 20-second video, which Trump indicated was taken Thursday in Long Island, New York, shows a truck emblazoned with "Trump 2024" and a large picture depicting Biden tied up and lying on his side.

Trump was in Long Island Thursday for the wake of fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller.

When reached for comment on the image in the video, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said, "That picture was on the back of a pick up truck that was traveling down the highway." Cheung also accused "Democrats and crazed lunatics" of calling for violence against Trump and his family, arguing that "they are actually weaponizing the justice system against him."

Cheung pointed to comments by Biden in 2018, before he declared his candidacy, when he said that if he and Trump were in high school he'd "take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him" if he heard him demeaning women.

Biden campaign spokesman Michael Tyler slammed Trump for posting the video.

"This image from Donald Trump is the type of crap you post when you’re calling for a bloodbath or when you tell the Proud Boys to ‘stand back and stand by,'" Tyler said in a statement. "Trump is regularly inciting political violence and it’s time people take him seriously — just ask the Capitol Police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on January 6."

The White House referred questions about the video to the campaign.

Trump has previously used violent imagery and rhetoric, both in his 2024 presidential campaign and before.

On March 16, he vowed that there would be a “bloodbath” if he was not re-elected, while speaking about the economy. Last year, before his numerous indictments, Trump warned about "potential death and destruction" if he were to be charged in the Manhattan district attorney's hush money case against him.

He also shared an article on Truth Social that had an image of him with a baseball bat near Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's head. The post was deleted.

More recently, Trump used his Truth Social platform to go after Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the hush money case, as well as the judge's daughter after being hit with a partial gag order.

Trump faces four criminal indictments for charges related to allegations of election interference, mishandling classified documents and falsifying business records related to hush money payments. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

By the way, don't trust any of those polls. They have been wrong ever since 2016. The preditced a win for Hillary Clinton. Well, she did win. The popular vote. But thanks to that archaic and racist electoral college, Trump became president. Since then, he and the Republicans bascially lost every election although polls predicted wins for them.

This is so true. I don't think the polls should be disregarded completely but this far out + considering recent history, I don't think they should be taken too too seriously at this point. I can see why from the outside looking in, it seems like the whole country loves Trump but that's absolutely not true. I'd say the majority loathes him but he definitely has something Biden doesn't and that's a dedicated and passionate base that is with him ride or die. It's quite literally a cult in many ways. Trump won't lose those voters but on the other hand, he's not going to gain too many either. Biden absolutely does not have that loyalty in any way shape or form but in some ways, that's also his advantage because he is more likely to gain the "swing" voters and independent voters if he plays his cards right. My fear with this election is that people (especially young people) won't vote at all or a third party will take votes away from Biden leading to a Trump victory. Another consideration is even if Biden wins legitimately, the Republicans will refuse to certify the election. There are so many what if's with this election. Anyways, for those that haven't already seen it, check out the Republican response to Biden's State Of The Union.....just a warning though, have a barf bag handy.....

I’m really worried when people create a false equivalency between Biden and the orange fascist because they are not the same. Not even remotely in the same ballpark. One may be a politician with some questionable policies you can debate. The other one will end democracy and be a proper dictator. Just me two cents.

Perfectly stated. It's sad that this is what it's come to but it is what it is. I agree we need new blood and more progressive policies but when we're less than a year from an election where one of the candidates is literally saying he will be a dictator "only on day one....and two" 🙄 ....oh and he already tried to overthrow an election previously.....then it's really time to put things into perspective and for lack of a better phrase, fall in line.

It's getting really old electing the "less of two evils" vs. a really GREAT candidate but that's where we are now. Besides, in this current climate NOBODY would agree on what a "great candidate" is. The "right" considers Biden's policies to be "extreme" while the "left" doesn't consider him at all progressive enough. Does a great candidate really exist? Has a great candidate EVER existed? In a country of 350 million people and a world with billions of people a huge chunk of people will always be fucked in some way. It's depressing to think about really.

It's good that an impeachment with no evidence won't pass the Senate?? They're proceeding with an inquiry and hoping they'll find what they need later. That's not good. Tbh this is the shit that scares me. You have half of the country that legitimately wants a dictatorship and the other half that's so frustrated with everything they just want to burn the whole damn house down no matter the cost.

Bye bye Democracy. It was fun huh?

Dude he is the only president in the world along Israel who opposed in the UNO to declare a ceasefire in Palestine after more than 10.00 CHILDREN dead. He’s a psychopath at the same stage as Bush.

I think it's bullshit too. I don't agree with that decision and declaring ceasefire is the right thing to do. However, I think it's more complex than just he's a psychopath. I may not agree with his decision but I truly don't think he's a bad person at his core. There are so many other factors at play.

  6. Nobody is ever satisfied with any president. By the end people were calling Obama a war mongering terrorist, Bush was a terrorist, Clinton was.....Clinton...lol, Bush number 1 was a war monger etc etc etc.....maybe if we go back to Kennedy can we get to someone where most people collectively "like" him but we saw what it took for that to happen. The point is, it's a dirty job where you have to make decisions none of us will ever understand and no matter what there will always be people that are on the short end of the stick. This isn't necessarily commentary on the present situation just a generalization. I just notice this same conversation happens with every single president and most other world leaders as well. Everyone is all about them til they hate them. 🤷‍♂️

Democrats actually had a pretty good night on Tuesday (November 7).

    • Ohio (a fairly red state that went for Trump in 2016 and 2020) voted to enshrine abortion rights into their state constitution despite Republicans' best efforts to defeat it.
    • Ohio also legalized recreational marijuana by a wide margin.
    • The Democratic governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, won re-election - in part by running on abortion rights (in a red state!).
    • Democrats flipped the Virginia House of Delegates and kept their majority in the Virginia Senate. This has pretty much ended Republican governor Glenn Youngkin's 2024 presidential aspirations.

I would take all this pearl clutching with a grain of salt. Not that anyone should be complacent in the Biden circle. However, the GOP appears to be doing everything they can to lose. Abortion rights continue to be an effective weapon against the GOP, and their boy, Trump, is responsible for Roe v. Wade being overturned via his three Supreme Court justice appointments.

I'd rather be Biden right now than Trump.

It's so easy to get caught up in all of these "polls" that at the end of the day don't mean anything......just ask Hillary, every poll back in '16 had her winning. Tuesday night really put things into perspective. MAGA is LOUD and they are absolutely passionate (after all, it IS essentially a cult at this point) but they aren't the majority. You'll be hard pressed to find Dems as passionate about Biden (or any Dem politician) as MAGA is about Trump but that's actually not a bad thing. Dems and "swing" voters ARE passionate about the issues and as we've seen in the '18 midterms, '20 general election, '21 runoff election, '22 midterms and now in this off year of '23 elections, the majority of Americans aren't here for the extreme MAGA bullshit authoritarian agenda. Let's just hope that clarity is still here a year from now.

For so many years Republicans have wanted to overturn Roe and they got their wish. I don't think they foresaw the full consequences of that. It's been nearly a year and a half and people are STILL as pissed off as they were the day they found out. It's also worth noting that the governor's race in MISSISSIPPI was even competitive....that's unheard of. I think the incumbent Republican "only" won by about 6 points. MS is a DEEP RED state so the fact that a discussion of a Dem even coming close to winning that state speaks volumes.

  8. I agree that you can't trust polls, especially this far out but it's still alarming to see someone in the position Trump is in currently to be in the lead. In 2016 it could be argued we didn't know (although WE KNEW) what we were getting into with Trump, in 2024 WE KNOW so if that's the collective choice we make AGAIN then we damn well deserve every bad thing that results from that. Ever since 2016, every election is so fucking dramatic (and traumatic in some cases) but hey....if Trump wins, at least we won't have to worry about 2028 election drama.

I don´t know if biden has destroyed the country or not, but he seems too old to be president, at least the images that we see about him are not good, falling sleep, or saying weird things like god save the queen

He's old and he stutters but a lot of these "incidents" are completely mischaracterized and taken out of context. He's actually done quite a bit of good since he's been in office.

It's working though. Every time he goes on about it and his charges, donations go up. Victim culture works on both sides.

Yep, you're absolutely right about that! His polling numbers among Republicans go up with each indictment.

I like many others, still have PTSD from the 2016 election tbh but I truly don't think he could (legitimately) win a general election at this point. The majority of independent voters that carried him to victory in 2016 dropped him long ago but in this insane political climate anything can happen so it's definitely way to early to breathe any sighs of relief. One thing that's frightening is the fact that six out of eight of the GOP candidates have said they'd support Trump if he were the nominee so really, they're no better than he is in my book. Anyone that is willing to support someone that literally attempted to keep themselves in power after losing an election isn't fit to be president on that basis alone. If you have no respect for the integrity of elections you don't need to be in office.

It's a bleak situation when Chris Christie is the best option as far as GOP presidential hopefuls go. He does the bare minimum and calls Trump out on his corruption and anti-Democratic words and actions. So, at this point, if Trump for some reason isn't the nominee, then I hope Christie is. The greatest terror threat in the US right now is domestic right wing extremism, so we absolutely can't have someone that's willing to pick up Trump's baton and continue with the MAGA agenda as the other option in the event Biden loses. Speaking of, the most fucked up part of this is that as unpopular as Biden may be, outside of the MAGA cult he's nowhere as deeply despised as Trump is so, going up against Trump is his best bet for a win. So yeah, I want to see him held accountable, barred from running and jailed but that very well could open the door to MAGA: The Next Generation calling the White House home come Jan '25.

  11. If this is how they are with each other, just imagine the next two years legislating with Democrats. This whole thing is definitely a foreshadowing of the gridlock to come. The "Freedom Caucus" is going to make doing anything virtually impossible. To think, this is all over personal vendettas too, McCarthy is every bit as "MAGA" as the "Freedom Caucus" that's trying to keep him down.....but somewhere down the line, he pissed them off so this is their "revenge". Their whole agenda (once they finally pick a Speaker) is all about revenge.....investigations into COVID/Fauci, the Bidens, the 1/6 Committee.....any of their perceived "enemies" of the last few years will be investigated.....and of course they will try to impeach Biden as revenge for Dems impeaching Trump twice. They clearly aren't hearing the message voters sent in the midterms.

And I'm one of those who would never buy a Tesla, just because it has something to do with Elon Musk - a disgusting and vile human being.

Same! I could care less how great his product is. NEVER EVER will I put a dime in the pocket of that vile son of a bitch.

  13. It's such a relief to see Americans finally saying "enough" to the radicalized right wing bullshit. Obviously, there's such a long ways to go on all fronts but the way I see it, let them keep on with their tirades against the "woke" and their stupid little culture wars, they'll only alienate more and more of those important swing/independent voters. At the end of the day, they offer ZERO solutions to anything.

I swear I hope I don't come back and eat my words but I WANT Trump to be the nominee in '24. After '18, '20 and now '22 it's very clear to me that '16 was a fluke for him. He had no political baggage and many people took a chance and said "why not" and went for it. With all that's happened these past 6 yrs and now this, I just don't think he could pull it off (legally).

The longer this drags out, the worse it is for them and better it is for us. I do still anticipate they'll take the House and Senate truly is a toss up but even if they take both chambers at this point, the message sent was loud and clear. Hopefully for their own sake, Kevin McCarthy is re-evaluating the original policy platform of "revenge" and is second guessing the endless investigations and impeachments for Biden he had planned. Despite Biden not being the most popular, he clearly has done SOMETHING right and I don't think most Americans outside of that right wing extreme subset are going to be here for all of that unnecessary chaos.

I'm really hoping Lauren Boebert of CO gets voted out. Not only would it be helpful to the Dems for retaining the House but it would send an even louder msg to these fuckers. She's in the Marjorie Taylor Greene camp.....against LGBTQ, heckling Biden during his State of The Union, obviously perpetuating the election lie.....just a down and dirty vile CUNT so to see her defeated in a very Republican district would be glorious. Same thing with that CUNT gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake in AZ. She's already peddling election conspiracies and lies since she's losing......obviously if she gains momentum again I'm sure that will all change. Blake Masters is another one that's particularly vile and it does look like his Dem opponent Mark Kelly has a pretty substantial lead. All of these are "MAGA Republicans" so to see any of them defeated will be wonderful!!

Thought this would get a mention in the US politics thread but the drip-drip of fascicm in the US doesn't seem to get as much traction since Trump left office.

Sadly, I think this type of thing is becoming normalized and expected......even justified by some (prob not so much in this forum but generally speaking....def have read some "well, she had it coming..." type commentary). It's disgusting.

I was surprised that nothing regarding the 1/6 hearings was discussed here. There were so many shocking revelations. The indifference to blatant fascism and radical extremism is incredibly frightening and not something I thought I'd ever see in my lifetime.

  15. Just $4 million? Not enough for what he's put those families through. I don't think you can put monetary value on it but after they asked for $150 million, seems like somewhat of a slap in the face to the families.

This man calls himself a "performance artist". So, even though he knows what he says isn't true, even though he knows his supporters lap it up and will harass these families, he as recently as this week has said Sandy Hook is fake and the families are "actors". He was also at 1/6 insurrection. Really hope he gets investigated and a proper punishment. Enough of is enough of this bullshit.

  16. Anyone else watching 1/6 hearings? They're actually doing an amazing job at connecting the dots, telling the full story. The best part is a lot of the story is being told by Trump allies, cabinet members and judges appointed by Trump. Whether something comes of this of course is another story but the committee certainly is laying out a great case for DOJ. At what point is ignoring the results of the election and perpetuating a lie that it was "solen" from him with ZERO evidence to back it up just flat out willful blindness?? I know the "Q crowd" will never believe this even with all the evidence but I do believe some independent voters may find it revolting.

what things did he sign under ' executive order'?

Oh I wasn't saying he has executive ordered anything at this point. I'm just saying that would be a way to get some things done but with a presumably Republican victory in mid-terms and possibly the '24 presidency and of course the clearly majority conservative Supreme Court we have now, then whatever Biden did via executive action could prob be overturned/reversed somehow. I'm honestly not super familiar with how that whole process works.

  18. 57 minutes ago, Jazzy Jan said:

So frightening.  What so many people are not realizing is how people with these extreme views seek out positions of power to implement them.

And that's what's going on right now. It's really unfortunate because being the incumbent party, Dems are pretty complacent right now (as is the norm for a party currently with the majority...which is why the opposing party almost always comes out ahead in midterms), meanwhile the GQP (formerly known as the Republican party) are energized and on a local level, are electing candidates that out Trump Trump himself. Mastriano and Oz in PA are a great reference point for how dangerous and extreme this is becoming. I agree with other sentiments shared in this thread. As scary and heartbreaking as it is, I think that the USA's days as the democracy we knew are numbered. The extremists have already infiltrated to the point where there's no turning back in my opinion. I hope I'm wrong and would love for someone to prove me wrong but.....I don't think so at this time. Too far gone. 😞

It's very tempting to say since Dems have power now, just let Biden "executive order" everything that can be but then the GQP would just come in and reverse it in a year, that's not a way to govern. I really don't know what the solution is or if there is one but one thing is for sure and that's the US isn't in a "let's sit down and talk it over" type of mood at the moment.

Nobody is safe until the working classes WAKE UP!

That's the truth! Sadly, during this time of record inflation and sky high gas prices, people are focused on keeping food on their families tables and penny pinching, they don't have time or energy to worry about these things. Meanwhile, human rights and Democracy in general are slowly being chipped away. This is major news of course but the fact that even THIS (and all of the info regarding 1/6) isn't causing a MUCH bigger outrage is telling of where we are. I'm mainly speaking from a US perspective of course. It's come to the point where we're almost completely desensitized to the radical bullshit. By the time they do wake up I think it's going to be too late.....in fact, it may already be too late. Very scary times in this country and around the world.
