I'm half-black (but not American, so I hope @IsaacHarrisand @erotica blu can and will correct me), but I don't see what the deal is. The tone of the movie is racist, but then again, so is the story it is trying to tell (and if we think of how racist the movie industry was in the 30's, it only makes things worse). Should all movies about Nazi Germany be banned because it was a horrible time for humanity?

This is my opinion only, but whenever I hear that so and so was, well, problematic (say, Dietrich and some of the things she's said in private), I try to remember that the time was totally different back then and concentrate on all the progressive or positive things they've done. A lot of people are ignorant but that's because they haven't had a chance to learn about certain things, not because they're evil. Ignorance is certainly better than fake virtue to me. Maybe that's just me.

It's bothersome to me that they went through the effort to do this. Making it seem like Black people in the states are only looking to censor things that upset us. Which is wholly inaccurate.

I am a detransitioned butch lesbian woman. I identified as trans for 10 years because I hated being female and thought that made me a boy. It's been a hard journey into loving myself, to say the least (I've only just switched my gender marker on this website). I'm starting to undo the years of damage that gender ideology has done to me. I really do think butch lesbians and gender non-conforming kids in general are being pushed to transition - or, if that upsets you, perhaps "pushed" is the wrong word. Let's just say peer pressure and social media play a big part. I know I wouldn't have known such a thing as transition was possible without social media sucking me in with false promises.

Because I've experienced (and still struggle with) gender dysphoria, I have enormous sympathy and respect for trans people. And just because I was wrong in my transition, doesn't mean their journey is the same. Still, I have to say, I stand Jk on this one. Biological sex is a fact. Women are oppressed because of their biological sex, not their "identity", and they deserve sex separate spaces away from men.

You may disagree with me and that's okay. Can we just agree that the issue really isn't black and white, to say the least.

    Thank you for sharing this.

I’ve heard of a “Les Mis” cover and now you’re talking about the “Frida” cover; can anyone tell me which is which? 😅😅  If you ask me, this should’ve been the only cover; without the MADONNA.

As for the editions issue, I agree it’s pointless to release 3 different ones. The boxset stuff should be something special. Not just something anyone can access, like that Rebel Heart VIP hardcover book edition, which was limited.

It looks a million times better without the New Roman font.

Madame X could be one of my all time favorite albums.  I have been excited about it since last year, and it has exceeded my expectations.  (I only had to delete Killers and Dark Ballet!)

The other albums are strange.  I had no problems with any of the collaborators, in fact in each case I was excited, and then felt underwhelmed with the results.  I remember playing Hard Candy a lot, but now the only song I would bother with would be Give it to Me.  The same with MDNA, I would only listen to a few songs:  FF, Love Spent, etc.  With Rebel Heart, it might have been my top 5 if Avicii had produced the whole thing, I only listen to demos.

I love Dark Ballet. And I understand Killers being a buzzkill since it outstays its welcome.

Why is everyone comparing albums ?     It is a new era,  celebrate her new album.   Every thread about Madame X is filled with trashing of past albums.

Madame X is high art in contrast to the three albums that came before it. I think my fondness for American Life intensified because Madonna was committed to being fun for the sake of fun since the divorce really left her publicly vulnerable. All the press constantly attacking her age and no one in the mainstream articulating a defense on her behalf. Madame X for several represents a reset for Madonna. She's better than so many musical starlets that came right after her who are sometimes thought of as her peers. Mariah/Janet for the living examples.
