HITS:

YOUR WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW: One thing we can say with certainty is that Mariah Carey will stay at #1 in week two. The Island/IDJ release is projecting 185-190k as we head into the weekend. Another thing we're sure about is that Leona Lewis has legs. We're putting the J/RMG album from Clive's latest diva at 90-95k, contingent on a bump from Wednesday night's Idol performance, which is already moving the needle on the digital side.

Geffen's Ashlee Simpson is looking like next week's top debut with 50-55k, followed by the widely adored Kiwi duo Flight of the Conchords, whose first full-length will likely give Sub Pop its first Top 5 debut since The Shins last year with an estimated 40-45k, but it could go higher. The album has been #1 at iTunes since its release on Tuesday, but can it hold off the surging Leona Lewis?

Rounding out the Top 5 will probably be either Now 27 (SBMG/Commercial Music Group) or the Juno soundtrack (Rhino), with both heading toward 30-35k. But hot on their heels is another pair of bows, Atmosphere (Rhymesayers) and Phil Vassar (Universal South), both trending toward 28-30k. Staying in the realm of nuance, we presently have four releases looking 25-28k-ish: George Strait (MCA Nashville), R.E.M. (WB), Taylor Swift (Big Machine), Jack Johnson (Brushfire/Universal Republic).

The next grouping, at 23-25k, includes Michael Buble (Reprise), Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) and the debuting Story of the Year (Epitaph). You may now return to Round One of the NBA Playoffs. (4/25a)

OMG, that poor girl. That's definitely are reality check. Ms. Simpson, I hope you find bagging food as a fun career.

Outta My Head WAS actually a good song. I liked it. And I HATE that cunt. I seriously hate her... so that's saying a lot.

Fuck Mimi!

After the GMA playback catastrophe I really hope people is having second thoughts on the cow...

There was no playback catastrophe, she sang the 3 songs live.

Down! Go down down down and down! Bitch!

The 60% + decline HAPPENS TO ALL ARTISTS all the time. It will most likely happen to Madonna too. And Mariah didn't go down on the chart.

Bitch has been promoting the shit out of this record. If this is the best she can do, she can blow me.

As I said, it happens to everyone, it happened to Alicia Keys [she was everywhere], Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Leona Lewis [she is still everywhere], etc.

Don't spend your time on him... he's a fan of Mariah... he will defend her no matter what stupid stuff she's up to next or what generic copy single she'll put out...

Yeah I notice Alex is a lamb but I do have to agree with him on this one, most albums do tend to drop 40 to 60% on their 2nd week. Now we'll see the real challenge which is to see how well it sells in the long run. I would definately be really happy if Madonna ends up outselling Mariah even if Mariah had thebiggest opening on the 1st week. For now we just have to wait and see what happens with their 2nd singles and promotion. Although it is a little surprising to see how much Mariah has dropped given that she has promoted this album a lot, at least here in the US, not sure about Europe.

Yes... most albums drops alot in the 2nd week...

I agree... it's interesting to see who sells the most in the long run...

I'm afraid though that Madonna will have a problem getting radio support for her next singles in the US and cow is paying for radio airplay so she'll get it no matter what the songs sound like...

Mariah is a nobody in Europe... so there's the answer... she did some promo... mostly in the UK... but she made a fool out of herself so I don't think it was much appreciated by the public

Leona didn't do too bad, she's holding up quite well.

Her album must have done about 400k in only three weeks, Janet will take at least four months to get to that number.
