rocknrolla Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Does anyone else love the demos she and Steve Bray recorded, which eventually nabbed Madonna her first record deal? (Everybody, Stay, Burning Up, Aint no big deal) I even like Everybody and Stay better than their album versions. Don't you know is another one they recorded around this time. Listening to these, along with Sidewalk Talk, I almost feel like I am transported back to NYC in the early 80s. I almost wish her first album could have included more of these songs, even though it is perfect as is.
rocknrolla Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 On the flip side, I find the rock songs she recorded under Camille's management embarrassingly bad, and almost unlistenable. I can see why they did not move her career forward.
frzndrwnwrld Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Yes! I love those demos! Poor Camille! Trying to make Madonna the next Pat Benatar.

jacket Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I thought there had been 81 demos leaked for this era.
rocknrolla Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 Safe Neighborhood isn't bad. I think I've heard it on one of her documentaries.
madgefan Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 The rock demos are crap. I prefer the ones made for 'Gotham', they were perfectly album material, Get Up could be a single from the first album imo.
