Guest Bad Robot
Mariah has done much better than Madonna album-wise this time around. Anyone who thinks Mariah isn't doing well must, by comparison, think Madonna is doing absolutely shitty. 4M's digital sales, on the other hand, are the best I think any of the 80s/90s divas have seen since numbers have been available! HolidayGuy
With the market the way it is, Mimi's album will in no way approach sales of her last album. Even comparing rank, Emancipation was still top 3 after the same amount of time. Cyndi didn't gain anything with that last update- still at 7.018. So, comparatively, it could be argued that HC is performing better. - Matt Mariah is doing well. She's approaching 1 million in sales. She's had two top-20 hits already (one of them No 1) and according to her fans at least the record has a couple of more songs that have the potential to become big hits. Madonna is doing just ok. 4M and HC had a good run in US so far but she seems she hasn't done all that well in markets she usually dominates (UK for example). I think the most important thing is that her fans are not 100% behind the project and this will defnitely have bad impact in the long run.

True! However, I would HATE IT if I was a MC fan. This CD is dropping quick. I would be shocked if this CD even top 2x million! As for Madonna, Im very disappointed only because 4M got big airplay and it translated zero effect for HC sales. But from this point on, I think if Madonna can just sell 1m each time. THATS GREAT! NO MORE EXPECTATIONS FROM ME-AGAIN!

Guest mattcho
Smallest % decline in the Top 10. Sweet. And so close to Mariah's total, but with less promo and still only on single #1. I am impressed. - Matt

Guest mattcho
Cyndi didn't gain anything with that last update- still at 7.018. I am always baffled by Cyndi's poor chart performances. Where did all her fans go? Even The B-52's opened this year with 30K. At Last did OK, from what I remember - #38 and 200K or so, no? Bring Ya To The Brink is at least opening higher than Sisters of Avalon, her last studio LP. It peaked at #188. Before that was Hat Full of Stars (#112). A Night to Remember peaked at #37. Maybe this chart position isn't so bad for her after all, but she deserves higher. - Matt
Guest nothingfails0603
glad that HC was able to squeeze in another week in the top 10 Disappointed how poorly Cyndi did. The last time she recorded an album this good, Ronald Reagan was still president.

Guest jamesshot
Impressive given hardly any promotion. The song is sooo selling the album. Come on Madonna. A little appearance on Ellen and Dave should give it the boost it needs. Oprah would be a dream.
Candylipsgirl
Im thinking "word of mouth'' is stabilizing sales...which is a good thing! maybe, people are talking and maybe NOT all of her fans bought HC initially until they heard the songs (from a friends cd or Gi2me on the radio) ....
