  1. I think the best Madonna moments post-cheeks were in 2009 (or 2010?) during a Material Girl promo appearence:

    Madonna-and-Lola1.jpg

I remember watching pics from this night and think "how is this woman in her 50's?!" her cheeks are simply on-point!

and also fall, 2011. I dare you to show me ONE bad picture from the Smirnoff contest!

There are even videos showing her up close. She looked simply beautiful and young! Her cheeks were the best since EVER here. So yeah...post-cheeks this is my #1 moment for her :D

And a bonus pic...from 2012 when she went to the Jay Leno sho. I remember watching it and thinking that she looked so natural! Her eye make up was really not much, and she looked simply stunning! Pics don't make this night justice!

  2. But Madonna's show aren't filled with her old hits, she mostly plays new songs sprinkled in with some older songs, which are usually remixed or differently arranged than usual.

I agree. But people care about the older hits. The casuals usually say the same: "Great show, but i was expecting more hits."

She has those huge stans that know everything by heart...but those fans are not the ones that fill the stadiums, let's not pretend they are.

People don't go for Gang Bang, they go for Like A Prayer. Unless you think most people that attended the MDNA Tour knew or had bought MDNA. They go because it's Madonna performing.

    Same applies for U2.

But this is not even a bad thing. It means their name alone is enough for people to know they are gonna have a great show, not depending on their more recent work.

  3. Their tour will not be as big as they hope. No one cares about U2 anymore. There has been zero buzz about this album and the reviews are middling. This negative hype won't help either.

Compare that with say the buzz about the new Madonna album. The internet is lapping it up!

Are you sure? You seem like one of those people that say no one cares about Madonna or "who the hell still goes to her shows?"

U2 released this album for free and are working on another that is gonna be out before their tour.

About this negative hype you're talking about means nothing. You really think people go to a U2 show for their last record? It's just like Madonna. They go for the hits.

If someone was thinking about going to a U2 show, they are not gonna be mad by the fact they just got a U2 album FOR FREE, lol!

  4. But Guy Oseary is horrible. He treated U2 as a dated band, assuming no one would buy their new album. He pushed them as a free gift attempting to create interest. He treats Madonna as a dated singer too. He doesn't have faith neither in U2 nor Madonna to still be strong and fresh. And if he doesn't take them seriously in that aspect, as a result the promotional strategy is a failure. And how can the general public take U2 seriously after this? Guy needs to realize that even those singers who have been around for decades can still come off as fresh and exciting! He needs to treat Madonna as if she is new!

He didn't assume no one would buy U2's new album. If you're trying to say Guy Oseary looks at his 2 biggest acts with no faith you're wrong, obviously!
Guy Oseary knows that the money is NOT on buying albums...who the hell sells more then 3 million albums per year now?
Streaming is the present/future...and Guy knows that. People know U2 has a new album.
And what does this promotional strategy has anything to do with Guy Oseary needing "to realize that even those singers who have been around for decades can still come off as fresh and exciting"?
The so called new singers sell like 1 or 2 singles on itunes (which is decreasing in relevance by the day) and barely sell albums or tours and their main fanbase are teens. U2 don't need to have that kind of promotion for sure.
Relevance nowadays it's about tours, streamings, social networks, youtube views, etc...not those 2 million albums sold. Why do you think more and more acts are not even with a record company like Madonna and U2? Because it's secondary for them...it's not important to be affiliated with one.
And one more thing...am i the only one that have a feeling we're gonna have an evolution from the MDNA strategy? The ticket + album think? Maybe turn that into something international? Dunno. They will come up with something i'm sure.
  5. We already had a thread like this fairly recently and it was a disaster lol

But whatever, "Don't Stop" from BS should've been a single.

If i find out i was the one that created it i'll never come back here! AHAHAHA (J/K)

I remember thinking about doing it once...but i wasn't sure if i ever did. and the search engine is not working for me XD

Anyway...carry on everyone :D (if it's ok of course)

  6. As the title says.

Post here one opinion about Madonna, a release, tour whatever that is usually not accepted by fans or the public in general. Somthing that makes uou think "am i the only one that thinks this?!"

I thought this is gonna generate some drama, but i'm bored...why not? XD

    I'll start:

Celebration is a better Madonna compilation than The Immaculate Collection - While i understand the legendary status of The Immaculate Collection, it's not the best Greatest hits for people to buy, it only includes 80's hits, some bad remixes, weird edits, etc. Into The Groove, La Isla Bonita, etc...are edited to the point i don't enjoy them. I also don't like the remix used for Like A Prayer. Also the sound quality and remastering is better for Celebration. Actually i'll go to the point of saying Celebration is a better Madonna greatest hits for the 80's since it includes Who's That Girl, Dress Your Up, Everybody, etc. The only songs on TIC that is not included on Celebration is Rescue Me. Why someone would choose TIC is beyond me.

    There, i said it.

    Now your turn!

PS - Let's try to keep this clean xD

  7. During her AL era, the album flopped, no radio touched her, 0 hit singles, and no superbowl.

And yet she sold out RIT in minutes WORLDWIDE.

    Enough said.

The North American shows for MDNA sold out a lot faster than the WW dates...no news there. Why do you think MDNA sold-out even faster then S&S in the USA? It just happened? Or why were tickets available right after the Superbowl? All of this was because of her tour. It wasn't a coincidence and i'm sure everyone knows the Superbowl was to promote the tour...or was that a secret? o_O

I'm not saying that if she announces a tour tomorrow that it wouldn't sell out. Obviously it would. (i think?) But it wouldn't be that craziness like it was right after the Superbowl.

  8. i agree about performing instead of only interviews as promo. thing is though, her performances on tv shows are never as amazing as her tours. theres way less theatrics and so on. so if she does one big performance on a show (MTV, grammys, whatever) she has to make sure it's just as big as on her tours (in which she shines) in the 80s and 90s it used to be mtv in which she showcased that. and one time the oscars.

    Live 8, Live Earth, etc...

She doesn't need 10 screens, 20 dancers and huge sets to shine.

  9. I'm not against a performance, That would be great! Sure she should promote when she has something to promote like a new album, but I don't think she has to be on tv just for the sake of it to tell everyone she is still famous. I like it that she's not everywhere like some celebrities. You get sick of them and want them to just go away. I like it that her appearances are a little rare. It makes it more exciting when they do happen.

What she does best is performing. Going on Tv to do that is not about showing "oh look at me still famous", or even doing talk shows.

That promo tour she did for Ray Of Light in November/December? Brought the album to the top 10 everywhere in europe and made that album sell A HELL of a lot more during that fall.

When she did Hung Up at the EMA's...i swear she was everywhere in Europe. That performance made people crazy for her again. What a comeback it was. Then she when to Germany, etc...it also helped.

Even the Grammy's performance made the song climb in America and we got that Ellen interview, which made the album go up, i remember that so well.

I really don't get it. During Hard Candy and MDNA the biggest criticism everyone had was the lack of promo, interviews, performances, etc...now suddenly that's not a problem? :s

Being Madonna is not enough. People are still interested in her...but she needs to promote herself.

  10. Who doesn't know who Madonna is? I don't see that she needs to promote her name.

People know who she is...but i'm sure they won't be talking about her out of the blue.

What's the problem with a great performance once in a while?

Imagine if she had done a Girl Gone Wild performance like on tour...same choreo and everything in a few countries (USA, UK). It would've done wonders for her!

Do you think she sold out her US leg from MDNA just because she's Madonna? That Superbowl performance was the biggest help she ever had. That's the reason she had a much bigger demand from the USA compared to...let's say, Europe.

    No secret there.

  11. Promoting new albums is more then promoting her new music. She's promoting her name!

Doing TV performances for the Grammys, why not a Madonna week on American Idol (ending with a Madonna performance on a weekend) etc? Then announcing new tours on TV, interviews etc...

People would always be talking about Madonna the person, not just about what's new from her.

It's about reviving her legacy, people always buy greatest hits when new albums come out and when promotion occurs.

Even if it increases youtube views of her songs, what's the problem? At least the name "Madonna" is out there!

    Of course promotion matters :s

  12. I'm afraid all this mess with no release date after bombing IG with hints during months and all is purely related to the process of the tour (ideas, setlist, theme) and the album will be the backup just like MDNA was. I could be wrong tho.

Dying for the new material, I wish we could have a preview right now.

If they really wanted to just release an album with no concern for its quality, it would be out this year ;)

If they are actually spending more time with it, it might actually turn out to be a great album!

MDNA would be much better if it wasn't so rushed.

And she could release the album months before the tour even starts.

  13. From pop justice forum:

"Can't name my source (wanker, I know), but something has changed in regards to the release, something 'bad'. Album is out next year, possible single towards the end of this year. Not expecting anyone to believe me, just thought I'd post what I knew."

"The fan sites were being drip fed the info to post by Madonna's people, so I should imagine it will now stop, although don't be surprised if something 'leaks'."

    lol...these sources.

Something "bad" happened and the album is gonna be out next year. (using a current rumour? ok...)

The leaks are supposed to stop...but something MIGHT leak anyway.

A new single MIGHT come out this year...but it might not as well.

Either Madonna's camp has no idea what to do or these rumors are just made up stuff that any of us could write, really!

  14. The album is taking too long to produce. She recorded so many tracks with so many producers and it's still not finished? If after 50 recordings she doesn't have enough for an album does she need to record 100 more tracks in a desperate, expensive crapshoot to get an album's worth of decent songs? Perhaps she needs to take this as a sign to retire from music. The spark just isn't there. Even hiring all these producers to do most of the work for her isn't helping much.

She restarted Bedtime Stories and Ray Of Light from scratch, and Ray Of Light sections were the longest she EVER worked on an album. Maybe she was uninspired back then too!

    Oh wait...

  15. I'm not sure Madonna is really torn between both things (what she wants to do and what she things will sell). I'm pretty sure she does whatever she wants and isn't THAT bothered about album sales anymore. She knows her tour will sell and that's where the money is actually.

But I agree with the second part of your post. Even though we don't know for sure how dedicated she was during the HC and MDNA recording sessions, it seems to me that she is more involved and dedicated this time. Some fans can bitch now and say she was just as much involved during MDNA but I don't think so, her movie had a higher priority back then and it was obvious. That's why I am really looking forward to this next album and if she wants, I will wait until 2016 if I must, as long as she thinks the album is good.

About Hard Candy...people like to say she was in a rush to finish her Warner contract...but i simply don't believe it.

She really liked to do that album. She was recording in January 2007 and released it long after that. She loves Candy Shop, i remember an interview where it was said she wrote Give It 2 Me almost entirely by herself. Looking at each song's credits it's Madonna and another songwritter. Only Hertbeat was "bought" from someone else if i remember correctly. (Pharell had a demo done before the album was done). It turned out most of that album was about her, we just didn't know it (Miles Away, She's Not Me, etc). We finally got Devil also. With this album we had the only tour with 2 legs. She opened gyms around the world named "Hard Candy" years after the album released, for god's sake! Obviously she liked this era.

About MDNA? She had a lot going on. Most songs were already owned by different producers. I mean...i know Girl Gone Wild, Gang Bang, Turn Up The Radio, Some Girls were. And looking at the writters...it's a mess! She never had so many people on her albums. There was no concept, etc. Her William Orbit sessions were a mess, the man had to rush those tracks, etc. She still gave us a kick ass tour though. But it was obvious she really wasn't there for this album as for Hard Candy.

  16. From how everyone is describing the new songs it's like she's again torn up between what she WANTS to do (more serious stuff) and what she THINKS will sell (the immature stuff). That's a bit like MDNA.

It's like she can't see that her audience is NOT the 12 yo...it's people in their mid 20's and above. As it should. Teen music nowadays suck...why would she try to compete with that?

I will say this though...if this new album is not a best seller, she can get ready for another dip in ticket sales. From Sticky and Sweet to MDNA it was noticeable already.

I really want another huge era for her. I think if she would release something that would be different from everything else it WOULD be a hit. The hype is ALWAYS there for her...Give Me All Your Luvin was everywhere during the first week/2 weeks. People just didn't like that song and it went down fast in every chart.

People are still interested in her and i think the world really needs another HUGE Madonna album, especially now that the music industry (pop music especially) is so bad.

Come on Madonna, you're the only one that can do it!

And i think she knows that. When was the last time she was so into recording an album? She's doing it for MONTHS and now goes on instagram talking about working on it a little longer. That's the Madonna i always loved! That's the Madonna that restarted bedtime Stories and Ray Of Light almost from scratch and it's good to see her so into her music again.

When the album drops, i'm sure it's gonna be great :) Just drop those "Bitch, I'm Madonna" and stuff like that. Not even Ariana Grande is doing stuff like that.
