  1. Is it just me or she never worked so much for an album?

The longest was Ray Of Light right? She worked with a few producers before Orbit, and then spent 4 months with him in a studio.

We started hearing about Madonna and Avicci in a studio back in January (i think)! We're in November now and she's still working on this.

The weird thing is that she seems to be going more Urban lately in her sessions. Remember those Messiah snippets with that Orchestra? That and Avicci are not Urban.

I guess she's really into her work with Diplo. But then, he already said she's gonna have only 5 songs from him on her new album and they are still working together.

I really have NO idea what's gonna happen with this album, and that leaves me both scared and hopeful that it's gonna be something great.

  2. It's funny how much hate U2 get here since they are for rock what Madonna is for pop. They started around the same time, they are the biggest band live, just like Madonna is in terms of pop. They have survived 3 decades, have encountered numerous younger bands competing with them, etc...and always managed to survive.

And what people say here about U2 is what haters say about Madonna. Those old, irrelevant, "don't know what's so good about them" comments, etc etc. It's actually creepy and makes me think that in the end we really are all the same, LOL!

  3. I don't think this album was supposed to set the charts on fire. I mean...why would they release a new album in a few months commercially without this Apple deal?

I thought this was like a "welcome back U2" and the next one is gonna be commercially available only. And the tour comes after all that, right?

About Madonna...i hope they do worldwide what they did for the USA during the MDNA era. That ticket sales thing.

Just add the traditional promotion please. She needs to be out there, performing the 1st single, doing interviews, etc.

It's not like she can rely on radios now. MDNA era was over like...3 weeks after it was released.

  4. Yes all the Blurays had the sound issue, but only the US got a recall and corrected version. I imagine when stocks of the original Euro release run down, a new one will come into circulation (if it hasn't already) but you'd need to know the new skn/barcode. I ended up just importing from Amazon US and trashing my UK/Euro version.

Ok, thanks. it's probably what i'm gonna do :)

  5. We all know the MDNA tour had its problems when it was released. We also know in USA they released a new, corrected edition with some problems solved. Still, after all this time i haven't bought the Blu Ray because i'm afraid it's gonna be bad version. LOL

Anyway...this is one of the options: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mdna-World-Tour-Blu-ray-Region/dp/B00DQVSTCG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414011834&sr=8-1&keywords=madonna+mdna+tour+blu+ray and it has a "Customer Notice: Adjust Your TV for Optimum Quality"...so i guess it's the one to avoid?

The second one is an import (maybe the good one from the USA?) and it doesn't have any notices: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mdna-World-Tour-Blu-ray-Import/dp/B00FEXL4BM/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414012371&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=madonna+mdna+tour+blu+ray .

Which one do you think i should buy?

Thank you all for your help. I'm not even sure if i should be opening this topic in the right section, sorry if i made a mistake :)

EDIT: I meant Blu-Ray...not Bly-Ray when i wrote the title, obviously XD

  6. One thing i've been noticing more and more: The biggest critics of Madonna right now, are other women.

They are the ones always bringing her down.

When you see a bad article about Madonna...click on the picture of the person who wrote it. 90% of the times it will either be a fat 50 YO woman or a bitter 30 YO cow who always need to bring younger acts on their Madonna articles with claims like "Katy should be wearing this, not Madonna" etc...

Another double standard i never fully understood. Red Hot Chilli Pepers are always half naked on stage. No one talks about it. Hell even Mick Jager in his 70's.

But Madonna does her Like A Virgin number on the MDNA tour and suddently she's "trying to act younger". Why can't she just be a 52 YO woman undressing on stage? When did this idea started that a woman showing her body is automatically trying to look younger?

I'm sorry if this has an easy answer cause i don't really get it!

  7. Live To Tell.

It was the song that showed how much more grown up she was compared to her early stuff, both visually and musically (i mean compare this to Like A Virgin, Material Girl, her mini mouse voice was gone, her clothes and hair in the music video, etc...)

It was also the moment she started to be taken seriously as an artist and the critics gave up on the "she will be gone in the next year" stuff.

Probably one of her most important singles from the 80's, IMO!

  8. If you want Madonna classics in their original arrangements, then why don't you just sit your ass at home watching the Celebration DVD?

Do some people here actually want a tour full of original versions of classic hits? like WTF?

One thing is Madonna performing the album versions of her songs. No one is here for that.

Another thing is changing her songs so much you can't even sing them before knowing the new versions.

Open Your Heart on MDNA is a good example of a good re-invention.

  9. Why is this even a discussion? RIT WAS sold as a GH tour. It didn't mention her previous album on its title, the main track used to promote the show was Vogue and Frozen from the first section. The show's name actually kinda indicates what it's all about.

The show ended with Into The Groove, Papa Don't Preach, Crazy For You, Music and Holiday.

Music was the 00's track chosen to be among 4 other 80's classics...not Hollywood or any other American Life closing the show. She performed 13 USA top 10 hits there, 5 of them were #1 hits.

The woman performed Material Girl! Seriously!

Now compare it with MDNA. It was THE MDNA TOUR. The performance used on TV to talk about the show was Girl Gone Wild. The album's 2nd single opened the show, her last greatest hits single closed the show (a remix that was not the "main version" on the radios). Many hits were unrecognizable (Hung Up, the Justify My Love interlude, etc...), others were too short (Papa Don't Preach). She used not one, not two, but 3 album tracks as interludes...2 of them mixed and one from her big 00's flop (Best Friend/Heartbeat and then Nobody Knows Me) and even the only hit single MDNA produced, Give Me All Your Luvin' was completely different and incomplete from the album version.

We were lucky to get Express Yourself, Like A Prayer and Vogue as sing-along songs. Open Your Heart was a reinvention well done. You could sing it even if you knew that song from the 80's.

I love MDNA as a show...but it was clearly not a hits-fest kinda show. Let's not even pretend it was at the same level as RIT.

  10. That would be interesting. Very Beyonce, but better. :chuckle:

Beyonce wasn't the first one to do something like that.

And it was more like ballads vs uptempos.

Madonna would be more like: Fun songs vs serious/mature songs.

It's a bit different because we could get both uptempos and slow songs in BOTH albums.

    It's a much more interesting concept! :D

  11. Another thing: Remasters from ALL HER TOURS!

    I mean...seriously!

. The Virgin Tour was on VHS decades ago and that was it. (2 songs missing wasn't it?) Try to find it anywhere, good luck.

. For Ciao Italia we got a shitty "from VHS to DVD conversion" in the late 90's.

. Blond Ambition Tour, one of the most influential tours of ALL TIME was only released on Laserdisk at the time with the Nice concert in there. Also released in Japan i think with a Japanese show. (right?). Some Tv specials were done but not officially released. Impossible to find nowadays.

. The Girlie Show was released on VHS and then directly converted to DVD in 4:3 in the late 90's. That's it.

. Drowned World Tour as a 4:3 concert...but at least it's available. Hard to find, but compared with all the others so far, it's actually a release i can't complain much, besides the fact that it was released in 2001 and never touched again.

. Re-Invention Tour: Never released in no way, shape or form. How they messed up this release i'll never know!

. The Confessions Tour. Finally they actually realized Madonna was a touring force. Probably the best concert release she ever had. Still...only available on DVD. This is 2014! I'm just going to say something for you all to think: Madonna had her first visual 16:9 experience released in 2007. Nothing else to say really.

. Sticky & Sweet. No complains. Easily available in DVD, Blu-Ray. No sound or picture issues.

. MDNA Tour. Messed up the Colombia shootings, so the Miami filmings were poorly planned, shows started hours late and it made lots of people leave during the show and it affected the final product. Had to use other shows for crowd shots. Final product had to be corrected because in some regions the DVD's and Blu-Rays were messed up. At least it WAS released in Blu-Ray and 16:9...not too bad i guess, even if some audio problems still persist in some editions of this release.

Now that i actually just read all i just wrote here, it's worse than i though. o_O

  12. I always say this. With every album release and the Celebration album was a clear example.

She's Madonna for God's sake and she get the worst marketing strategy. There's tons of material to milk her work and should be out there with the proper exposure.

I didn't even want to go there. The way her music videos were treated on Celebration is just too much for me. Censorship, mix of 4:3 and 16/9, not remastered, lots of videos missing, etc. Many were actually similar to VHS quality. We're talking about Madonna here, how did that happen? xD

  13. I was just thinking, don't you think Madonna's team should care more about Madonna's legacy online?

She should have her music videos on a Vevo channel or something. And by now they should be remastered also.

There are songs that are simply so hard to be found on youtube. Where's You'll See? Wanna watch the Ray Of Light music video? Search for "Madonna Ray Of light" and you'll find 4 videos above 100.000 views. One is the confessions tour version, there's the sticky and sweet one, etc...but none of them is the official video.

Wanna see the Sorry music video? There's a 720p video with OVER A MILLION VIEWS. Guess what? Not on her official channel either.

Someone with almost 70 singles deserves so much more.

    Am i alone in this?

Even the MDNA music videos are a mess! Give Me All Your Luvin is on "madonna". Girl Gone Wild has 2 official videos, on different channels: madonna and "MADONNAVEVO". Turn Up the Radio is only on "MADONNAVEVO".

  14. I actually think Sticky & Sweet had the perfect ballance from old and new.

The problem with MDNA was that some songs were not even close to the original. Hung Up was lacking something, Papa Don't Preach was barely there, etc...

I think we might get like 10 new tracks from the new album, but the rest will be big hits. No Human Nature or Candy Shop kinda songs. And i'm praying for a great last section. Noboby Knows Me, I'm Addicted and I'm A Sinner to start the last section was weird for me, IMO. But i did enjoy it all as a show. I can see why casuals wouldn't though.
