  1. From The Sunday TImes:

"Lady Gaga and the Death of Sex"

    Camille Paglia

    12 September 2010

    http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/public/magazine/article389697.ece

The references to Madonna include the following excerpts:

"Gaga has borrowed so heavily from Madonna (as in her latest video-Alejandro) that it must be asked, at what point does homage become theft? However, the main point is that the young Madonna was on fire. She was indeed the imperious Marlene Dietrich’s true heir. For Gaga, sex is mainly decor and surface; she’s like a laminated piece of ersatz rococo furniture. Alarmingly, Generation Gaga can’t tell the difference. Is it the death of sex? Perhaps the symbolic status that sex had for a century has gone kaput; that blazing trajectory is over…"

"Peeping dourly through all that tat is Gaga’s limited range of facial expressions. Her videos repeatedly thrust that blank, lugubrious face at the camera and us; it’s creepy and coercive. Marlene and Madonna gave the impression, true or false, of being pansexual. Gaga, for all her writhing and posturing, is asexual. Going off to the gym in broad daylight, as Gaga recently did, dressed in a black bustier, fishnet stockings and stiletto heels isn’t sexy – it’s sexually dysfunctional."

"Compare Gaga’s insipid songs, with their nursery-rhyme nonsense syllables, to the title and hypnotic refrain of the first Madonna song and video to bring her attention on MTV, Burning Up, with its elemental fire imagery and its then-shocking offer of fellatio. In place of Madonna’s valiant life force, what we find in Gaga is a disturbing trend towards mutilation and death…"

It's funny that she would say that, but then not surprising that someone like Paglia would say that

She blasted and trashed Madonna too in 1993 for her scene in Body of Evidence

She's just one of those 70's useless vapid so-called *feminists* a-la Germaine Greer

Paglia and Greer should get together and read an article by a woman whose name I don't recall which appeared

in the British press in July 2001 when Madge was performing during DWT in London

The title of the article was: "Madonna, a phenomenon of towering proportions"

It highlighted what True Feminism is all about

I can't find the article anymore

  2. Is it true that the real Sophia was in the American Life video? :lmao:

    ahahahah how ironic

I was just rewatching the original unMadonnacensored AL video and realized that she's featured briefly at the end of it

among the guests at the fashion show..... lol

I think that was an actress impersonating her

You know, I don't think that Queen Sophia would participate in a Madge video

  3. Exactly, considering how much cash we have all forked out over the years for concert tickets, cds etc I think we are owed something. Also this is the age of the internethe is quite happy for clips of HU, 4Mins etc to leak when want to build up the hype for a new album. They are quite happy to boast about record breaking tours, box office numbers and rhow much of our cash they have raked in but they begrudge us a few leaks? Please! Talk about trying to piss your fans off.

    Forked out?

I thought you went to those concerts after having purchased the tickets

  4. Guy Oseary is so transparent. He knows exactly who leaked these songs. I remember my friend asking him about Reinvention Tour being released (at Confessions Tour in Arizona), and he said it was "in the works". Right. Guy is a horrible liar. Not to menntion that Madonna knows it will be a long time before we get another album. I'm guessing we're getting the stuff Madonna can't possibly milk anymore. If they really want to keep the fans happy for another year, release "Desperately Seeking Susan", "Pipeline" or "Love Attack". Along with Warning Signs of course.

    That's interesting

  5. actually was once said Sophia was thee "Most Beautiful Woman in the World" she has always been a classy chic! Maybe M was lonely (those were her provacitive (everybody thought she was a talentless slut) days. Or maybe S was lonely and wanted M to be lonely too.

She made herself look ok for that night on purpose

If you take a pic of Loren at 52 and one of Madonna today

They don't even compare in terms of sheer beauty

Then Loren is a bit of an historically controversial figure here in Italy in a way so........

As for talent Madonna has challenged herself artistically a dozen thousand times more than Loren has

and in her primary field which is music Madonna is just unparalleled, even more so 30 years later the inception of her

career..............and her career started in the late 70s and 80's so it gives Madonna even more relevance

Considering that there's nothing remaining standing of the 80's at least in terms of stars that were huge back then

Some of them are still talked about obviously and no one denies they have a huge talent but what Madonna IS today

    no one can match

  6. I don't know why Guy is annoyed. Let's face it, they've given us nothing in the way of box sets and retrospectives in over 25 years! Every key anniversary has been missed. If we had any faith in them actually releasing anything good, we might just hold off but since it will never happen we will do what we can to get hold of stuff.

who cares there's at least another 80 years of great Madonna music ahead of us

We got 6 months of touring split over a 13-month period

    Four glossy Fashion campaigns

    A film

Beautiful magazine covers since spring 2008 up to today

Celebration which is a more than decent song (even though I prefer the album version to the benassi mix, although

I adored his dj set for the 2008 S&S Rome gig)

We got Hard Candy barely 24 months ago, which is no Ray Of Light or Confessions but it's still enjoyable imo

and done with a real effort

All the remixes a dvd with 50 videos on it.......

I am sure she works harder than anyone posting on here so I am positive you'll soon find ways to quench your

    dissatisfaction

This was a general consideration (not addressed to Jonski specifically :horn: , I love you too jonski :inlove: )

C'mon let's celebrate Madonna for a change....after all we are on a Madonna board no? :vogue:
