People who will save pop in 2012, GIRLS ALOUD, DIANE VICKERS, STEPS.
British charts are THE WORST. Omg, British People lush.
-
Shes been called Madge here for 20 years. It doesnt meen grandmother, its a turn of affection if you shorten peoples name.
If the papers wanted to call her a grandmother theyd just call her that. I read all the papers and am a news addict, Ive not seed anything bad about her in years apart from the mails bad film review. M is on top of all the lists for 2012's who to watch
UK Grandmother
-
A lot of Brits were sick of her towards the end of the last decade and havent you noticed that when she was married to Guy the press surrounding her is more positive but now it seems that our press just wanna kick her down at every opportunity, I think Guy came out of the divorce better, no newspapers are slagging him off like they do Madonna. His films are foing great. Like look at the whole booing saga at the premiere of W.E in London, another opportunity for the newspapers to get a dig in. Also the insistence of them calling her "Madge" and all that. Maybe when the promo starts for new project it will get better.
That's a good sign then as they gave her that nickname over a decade ago and it stands for Majesty
Flop fan
-
MMmm I apreciate what you say but Madge is the queen in the UK. 99% adore her. Nowt to do with Guy, most think he's a con artist. I try to understand you but not quite there. Shes gone quiet in the UK becasue HC wasnt that good to most peoples ears here.
Definitely more plausible statements

Since the divorce with Guy Madonna has been vieweed more negatively here in the UK. The press are always portraying her as rude, old, arrogant etc.... A lot of people went off Madonna here even when she was married to Guy. Obviously her UK fans will always be there but with the recession as bad as it is, I do feel she will struggle to sell out stadiums here at such high prices.
You mean she won't sell out a gig in the UK because she's not married to Guy anymore or some press outlets are saying she's rude, arrogant and old? Doubt it.
By the way 2008 was as financially disastrous as the current times. Yet she got
away with charging $400 and £160 so . . .

I've often wondered if on her desk at her home office in New York there's a little red button next to a pile of old notebooks and to-do lists. When she feels compelled, she presses that button and it switches a GARGANTUAN machine on, igniting it into motion.
The other day, I was at a Kroger supermarket here in Nashville where I live, and while I was shopping, one of her ballads came on the overhead speakers. I must have looked a little drunk singing along to the words "Deep in my heart I'm concealing, things that I'm longing say!!! Scared to confess what I'm feeling. Frightened. You'll slip away" in the baking aisle.
I went to another supermarket the other day to get some dark chocolate when, lo and behold, a familiar voice could be heard everywhere saying the words "I have a tale to tell." That voice is working its way back into our lives in the places where we live and move every day.
Today, on New Year's Eve, I've been reflecting on this past year. I'm thrilled about what's to come for 2012.
Clearly, she's pressed the button.
Indeed. It's great that she still feels like writing and producing songs and going on tour. She's been filthy rich
for decades now and probably wants more but she never puts out something that isn't going to provide some great
entertainment. That's really admirable. Also I love it when you're out somewhere and you unexpectedly hear her on radio.
The place she belongs to the most

How high are the steaks?
really high

If it is LUV I hope her look is of a northern English housewifHobart in rollers wearing an apron who says "luv" a lot
"cuppa tea luv? Yes luv have a biscuit"
-
ah, the word that i was looking for, looking at how many dates there are in that Tour itinerary... I just wish she has enough energy...
She will pull it off as usual, no worries
This tour will add another record to her list of achievements
After Female highest grossing tour (2006) and Solo highest grossing tour (2009) the time has come for
Highest Grossing Tour EVER
-
it's tiring just to look at that list, lol
yes
-
As for the concert tickets being overpriced I agree in theory
but that's what all the big acts who've been around 20, 30+ years charge and I think
that with this tour will see a further increase as prices haven't been touched since
2004 RIT... we know she has another record to break with this coming tour
Honestly I don't mind spending £160 for her, at least you always get to watch
something amazing
-
I think the reason why it took so long for the Wembley show to sell out was that they basically took the piss with the prices.
They were charging 160 pounds to sit at the back of the stadium and it put a lot of people off. Same thing happened at the two
02 arena shows on round 2. Charging 125 pounds to sit at the back of the arena is a joke. The hardcore fanbase will always cough up the cash. Yes she's Madonna, yes she is a huge attraction
and people are still fascinated by her but there is a limit to what the casual fans will pay. A lot of the UK media have turned on Madonna, They portray her as a rude,
self and aged obsessed control freak. She really needs to do some good PR work for this next album and tour like she did with Confessions. The UK public loved her in that era.
I don't think it is as bad as you would paint it media wise in the UK for her
She's almost a *national* asset also there. She was the most written about celebrity between 2000 and 2010 in the
UK. I suppose the 10 years she spent with Guy in London left a mark. She still has her properties there.
When people are interested in writing about you it means you're still a "product" that sells.
And as they say even bad publicity is good publicity. She will always take some flack in specific areas.
In the film department for instance. As it was predictable W.E. got awfully panned by The Guardian. It still
received 3 stars from The Independent and a positive review from the BBC. It's not that bad really.
As for music, tours, her big fashion campaigns at the grand age of 50+, her spirituality and exercise regime
(big part of her image as well), her business acumen she still reigns everywhere, especially in the UK
She's a cultural and a fashion icon. No one esle enjoys the position that she does in the UK, not in that measure
-
Ooh, Baby has started to speak.
-
Yes, it sold out eventually. But they pencilled in another show and ended up scrapping it because it took so it took so long for the first show to sell out. I doubt she will sell out 2 Hyde Park shows and a Wembley
Stadium show in the current economy. The last time she sold out 3 large shows in London was BA tour.
I wasn't aware of that but I would hardly call that struggling anyway, considering that all of her performances
in Europe in leg 1 were stadiums, sold-out stadiums and that she also played two more packed dates at Wembley Arena
9 months later
By the way 2008 was no less a year of financial crisis than the current times are
When the dates for S&S were announced in Spring 2008, an American journalist was criticising her over her choice
of playing multiple stadium gigs, saying basically that it was foolish on her part to think that she would sell-out
stadiums. I guess he was proven wrong. As it often happens with Madonna. Even in this economy she remains a huge
attraction everywhere in spite of her hefty ticket prices. That's undeniable. But we'll see . . .
-
DWT $75m
RIT $125m
CT $200m
S&S $400m
Each of them followed 2 years after the previous one (except between DWT and RIT) and doubling the previous tour box
office figure
With this tour she's going for the $1bn mark and no doubt she can succeed, with her average $6m gross per gig,
considering there's already 100 dates in 6 months and that she plans a 2013 extension
She's had the highest grossing tour for a female artist in 2006
The highest grossing tour for a solo artist in 2009
It's only fitting that now she's going to have the highest grossing tour EVER

*A FULL 2012 TOUR ITINERARY FROM TRACY* : "Alright I was just given the green light from LiveNation and Madonna to show you something very TOP SECRET!! They said that I can show you how we are currently trying to map out the tour. If I show you this nobody and I mean NOBODY!!! Can show or leak this information to any other website. I was only given the go-ahead to show it on this website ONLY!! Now please keep in mind that this is currently a rough outline we are still trying to book dates. This tour list looks real
You can see by the Hyde Park gigs that were previously announced by London Olympics people and by the Milan and
Paris Stade de France dates that were announced way back in the summer
There was also talk of a second North-American leg and a South American leg in 2013
I see she's doing mostly stadiums all over the place and she's gonna milk the London market
3 dates with huge capacity, 1 stadium and 2 Hyde Park gigs
This tour is gonna be HUGE
A total of 100 dates, in 6 straight months. Madonna has never done this before. It's amazing considering her age and her
children. She's such an extraordinary woman. It says a lot about her energy and the love she has for this job,
committing to something that a 20-year old or 30-year old would find suicidal about at best
-
Some of those dates are a bit odd. Why would she go to Tokyo in October and then
go back in December? Also I thought Wembley Stadium was booked out for the Olympics.
She struggled to sell it out on S&S so I doubt she is playing 2 Hyde park dates plus a stadium in
London.
Wembley was sold-out marky
-
WOW, she does get more beautiful as the years pass...
so true. love the pic from RIT and S&S
CT was the best she ver looked (at 48) great styling and she looked beautiful and fresh, pre-2008
not that she hasn't looked good since then but of course you could tell she started doing more things
It's already good enough that she hasn't gone into more invasive surgical procedures yet
-
Oh for fucks sake! Not another self-referential "homage" crapfest. Jesus I wish the woman would just take her head out of her own scrawny ass sometimes.
-
This thing is the first picture that comes on google whem i type 'madonna':
-
It's a fake! Here's the real picture
even the original is cheesily dreadful looking
-
It's so obviously fake those aren't her legs at all.

I love it. TF1. She's up there with France presidential election, the London Olympics, the G20 and the End of the World
At 53 after 30 years. Now THAT'S relevance.
