Of course that would be over 100 dates and I am not sure she has the patience for that size of a tour. Of course, with the abject commercial failure of W.E., I am not sure what she has going on after the tour. Is she really going to invest that much time in another film only to have it lose money?
I think she's going to be busy with another film project between the end of this tour and the next album/tour venture. Of course it will be on a much smaller scale compared to W.E . . . I doubt that she's going to spend anywhere close to $20m of her own money on something it's not likely to see some financial return. $500m a year or not.
But it will be a good thing that she'll explore more film-making wise. They are all side projects that in a way or another end up contributing to her music career. Her film career instead will be vastly revalued when she's gone (except BOE and TNBT, those are just bad).
W.E. for a first time full-length feature film from a *newcomer* isn't the mess some part of the press was so keen to portray as

I think there is a pattern. With each tour she is grossing more. And it will all end with the inevitable billion dollar farewell tour 2016 - 2018
DWT 2001 - 3 months - $75m
RIT 2004 - 3 and a half months - $125m
CT 2006 - 4 months - $195m
S&S 2008/2009 - 6 months - $408m
Now THAT's a hell of a pattern.
If she did 12-month plus tours ala Rolling Stones, U2 etc she'd eat them all for breakfast.
Even if in the end there shouldn't be the rumoured long overdue Australasian leg in 2013 she could still very well outgross the previous tour, unlike somebody was guessing here, since we have to take into account that ticket prices are higher on average everywhere and she's playing way more outdoor gigs (I mean 2 NY stadium shows and then a third NY gig at MSG?). She was granted that Quebec open air venue (a first-time the artist is given the grounds and allowed to charge people for the performance, and she sold 70k tickets for that so far).
I also believe that figure LN gave over a month ago is a cautionary figure, lower than the real one (just in case)
Plus this time around she's doing more US dates (can you believe she's doing DWT total number of dates just throughout the US!) Of course she'll get there regardless. Actually with an Australasian leg she could instead achieve even more than just outgrossing S&S
i.e.#1 ALL TIME
I don't think most people and worse most fans realise the genius of a live performer selling so well 2 months before the new material is even out ... from somebody who tours regularly every 2-3 years and who's been playing at the very top for 30 years. That shouldn't be taken for granted. That's just brilliant.
She's the only woman within the music industry (or any industry) who's achieved so much and then you get people having a fit because Donna Summer wasn't inducted and Madonna instead was ... (Not that the induction per se means something anyway).

Loving the fact that QUEENDONNA is going to be breaking her own record. I can just see the headlines in 2013:
MADONNA BREAKS HER OWN RECORD.
Can u imagine the Friedman meltdown when Forbes headline goes "54 yo Madonna pockets $500m in a single year"
-
I'm just wondering, that's all. With the current number of dates, will it be on course to outgross Sticky?
Most likely considering she's already at S&S number of gigs and Australasia still to be announced. Sales have gone extremely well pretty much everywhere (83 scheduled shows so far). Tickets are also more expensive this time around. S&S average gross per gig was $4.8m .... she's likely to get to an average of $6m per show this time around. At roughly 100 shows when all gigs will have been announced, that's already in the range of $600m, putting her #2 after U2's 360 in the all time highest-grossing tours chart

London Wembley Arena - Rome Olympic Stadium (front) - MSG
Best so far for me

Madonna to pay homage to Brandon Bitner
On November 5, 2010, ourteen year old Brandon Bitner left his Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa. home during the early morning hours and walked alone, in the cold darkness, over 6 miles to a busy intersection on US Routes 11 & 15 near Liverpool, Pa.
When he arrived at his destination, Brandon stepped out in front of a Weis Markets tractor trailer truck and committed suicide.
Brandon’s mother Tammy discovered her son’s suicide note at their home before 4 AM that tragic Friday. Brandon addressed his love for his closest family and friends but also expressed his reasons for taking his own life.
In the suicide note, Brandon described constant bullying and harassment in the Midd-West School District, which had been happening for over five years. Fellow students constantly harassed Brandon on a daily basis for his appearance and his assumed sexual preference. Brandon was called gay, faggot, sissy, emo, goth, and witnesses even saw him being physically abused in the school hallways.
Brandon also laid out a mission for his family, friends, and supporters in his suicide note. He believed that his suicide would teach the school district, the surrounding communities and maybe even the world, that bullying is not something that should be taken lightly. Brandon specifically requested that his family and friends march on in his honor, to bring awareness to bullying and the mental and physical abuse that it causes.
Madonna has asked and obtained permission to use an image of Brandon as part of her upcoming tour.
A Swedish film company will use a photo of Brandon Bitner - who took his life at the age of 14 on November 5, 2010 due to constant bullying at Mid-West High School in Middleburg - in a video they are producing for Madonna’s upcoming world tour, and will donate $5,000 to the Susquehanna University scholarship in Brandon’s name.
Katie Goodling, Brandon's cousin, confirmed Saturday a deal with Adamsky Film Production of Stockholm to use Brandon’s photo, one of seven portraits of bullying victims to run in the video.
Each will display with an RIP sign and the person's name for about three seconds.
Katie also administers BrandonBitner.com, a website dedicated to bullying prevention and Brandon's memory. Click here to check it out and learn more about him and his story.

12 days to MDNA! Are you ready?
-
The people who heard the demos say it has a very confessions tour feel to it and has certain sound effects that make you think the choreography must be intense.
-
The cantilever is the beam supported rigidly at one end to carry a load along the free arm or at the free end. A slanting beam fixed at the base is often used to support the free end, as in a common bracket. The springboard is a simple cantilever beam, and the cantilever design is often used for canopies, balconies, sidewalks outside the trusses of bridges. The free, unsupported end is capable of supporting a weight or surface, such as a stage ...

That music sounds fucking amazing. If this is the quality she is going for then she will blow us all away.
Indeed. As usual she proves to have impeccable taste in terms of show conception alone.
Imagine the coreo that starts at 00:45
This tour will be her BEST EVER

^ I can't fucken wait anymore
29 days to my MDNA

By the way what is it meant by cantilever stage?
All I found was a stage consisting of a structure suspended hanging over people below
-
Madonna's cantilever stage, at 23 x 54 metres, is of a size and scale never before seen in the UAE, Flash said. It includes a catwalk, a complex pyrotechnic and lighting system with giant LED screens mounted at the back.
Thanks Groovy

Yawn. I don't like this gaga woman but I'm still hoping this gaga shade is not true. That's so.... childish, unnecessary.
If she's truly mixing the two, I doubt she would say that at the end, anyway she'd still need to ask for permission to feature the song, let alone in this way. Even though nobody asked her permission over EY either.

Phillip Boutte Jr. is working with Arianne Phillips on the MDNA Tour costumes & just posted this:
"Concept to completion.
"Very soon. I am not allowed to say much. Just know that this tour will blow your mind. Madonna is in top form!"
Could it be possible dancer costumes or one of Madonna's???
Interesting. So for some parts they're probably going for an Eyes Wide Shut party type of theme

just bought the golden circle ticket for Hyde Park..i'm going alone though..if anyone is alone too and want to join let me know
also,,i bought it through viagogo...do you know how long does it usually take to have the ticket shipped at home??
Bought my London ticket from Viagogo March the 18th. Arrived May the 3rd.
Don't know if it varies according to where you live though, maybe not.

New pics found on Twitter
If this is the real thing I am dying to see how it works for a stadium venue
-
I don't think 45.000 tickets have been already sold for Rome.
Yes they have as it was reported by Vanity Fair Italia, the current issue where she graces the cover by the way
-
So basically two shows in Italy are pretty much sold out. Italians do it better!
Indeed.
So far she's sold 45,000 tickets for each one of the three stadium gigs. Bear in mind that these stadiums have a capacity between 50,000 and 60,000 (Rome). It's really extraordinary considering there's a full month ahead before she gets here

Firstly, there's been a fair amount of promo stateside with interviews, twitter, Facebook etc so the general no promo thing is bull. The promo just didn't travel.
The point of the UK chart thread is that simple things could have been done by the record company to make it the album a much bigger hit and that's where we like to discuss it.
Why have you got such a big problem with that? If you don't like it, just go to another thread and talk about her dresses.
I have no problem with you being disappointed by the lack of album promotion internationally (or in general anyway) and no problem at all with people desperate because MDNA only sold 90k so far in the UK, but you must admit that articles and datas of the kind Groovy posted from the Huffington Post make those who are questioning whether Madonna is out of touch with reality seem to be the ones out of touch with reality.

Some dumb dumb who runs madonna.com moved the Mexico date into the South American section of the tour section of the website. It was previously placed correctly in the north american section. Some people!

ANYWAY ... I will remain optimistic.
