  1. She's just killing them night after night and hardly looks like she sweats.. that body.. wow i've seen so much more of that body lately than i ever thought i would.. even more so than RIT pit seats.. girl is just lettin' that body glow!

When I saw her a week ago I was amazed at her level of fitness. She's always been fit, but she seems even more fit than past tours. She was clearly working that body hard on stage, but she moved around so easily and didn't sweat much of the show that it looked almost effortless for her! She is extremely insanely fit!

Madonna Mania Hits the Northeast With a Sticky and Sweet Vengeance

    Madonna Mania Hits the Northeast

The Material Girl, who originally skyrocketed to fame after moving to New York City and struggling as a music artist, has returned to her stomping grounds to bring the "Sticky and Sweet" tour to the largest media market on Earth. Madonna, the show business veteran whose body of work is so impressive, it would take pages and pages and pages to simply list her accomplishments, hit the Izod Center in New Jersey and tore the house down.

Part Vegas, part NYC nightclub, part house party, part big time legendary performer concert, the Madonna show was designed to showcase the ever-evolving performer's versatility, physical conditioning, music talents, and personality. "It was a great show!" raved Mark Hughes, a Madonna fan since the mid-80s, "I would rather see her in concert than anyone else in the world!"

Other concert goers concurred. Lisa Siemperve drove all the way from Athens, Georgia. "I've always wanted to see Madonna, so when my cousin called me and said she scored two 5th row seats, I knew it was time to ignore the gasoline prices and drive up North!"

The show was a smash hit. Madonna's legacy as a crowd pleaser lives on. Her rep for being outspoken is also intact, as she took the time to rip John McCain and endorse Barack Obama.

And the throngs held on her ever move, her every note, her every word. Because for this sold out crowd, this was like seeing The Beatles, or the final concert ever by the Stones, or Jim Morrison with the Doors. They didn't just go to a concert.

They got to see Madonna! Lots of photos from the show are here.

    You Must See Madonna Live!

Posted by Jarett Wieselman at 9:47 AM on October 8, 2008

Granted, I am not the world's No. 1 Madonna fan -- I don't bedazzle my own t-shirts with rhinestones spelling out "Her Madgesty" -- but I own every album and have been singing "Like a Virgin" before I knew what it meant. So I was excited to see her live in concert for the first time last night. I had previously passed up two opportunities -- Re-Invention World Tour and Confessions Tour -- to see a Madonna concert because the tickets were always so astronomically expensive. Well, now that I've bought, seen and survived, let me tell you that if sacrificing food, water or mascara for a week must be done to afford a ticket, do so -- this was the best $100 I have ever spent.

With every song, with every LCD screen, with every costume change, Madonna proved why she was still on top of the industry after 175 years in the game. The set list for her Sticky & Sweet Tour covers pretty much every album she's ever released -- "Borderline," "Into the Groove," ""La Isla Bonita," "Vogue," "Human Nature," "Music," "Die Another Day" -- with a heavy emphasis on "Hard Candy." There's also a dance-tastic "4 Minutes" and "Like a Prayer" mash-up that I would love for her to release on CD.

So if you can, pick up a ticket to one of her shows -- unlike her movies, you won't leave disappointed! Oh, and those rhinestone emblazoned t-shirt I mentioned before, I saw about 15 of them last night. The gays love a good Bedazzler!

Madonna to Sarah Palin: 'Get off my street!'

    By ELOISE PARKER

    Daily News staff writer

    Wednesday, October 8th 2008, 1:32 PM

You won't find Sarah Palin in the star-studded crowd for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour if the Material Girl has anything to do with it.

After telling thousands of fans at the New Jersey's Izod Center on Saturday night, "Sarah Palin can't come to my party. Sarah Palin can't come to my show," the queen of pop continued to make digs aimed at the wannabe veep at her Madison Square Garden show Tuesday night.

Celebrity fans and friends, including Rosie O'Donnell, Diddy and designer Michael Kors watched Madonna perform a string of hits including “I Love New York.” The song features the line, “Get off my street”, at which point, the outspoken singer shouted, “You know who can get off of my street? Sarah Palin! I'm gonna kick her ass if she don't get off of my street!"

Clearly getting into the groove with her anti-Palin rant, the 50-year-old superstar then mocked the Alaskan governor's accent, before sarcastically telling the audience, “I love her”.

Even Palin's husband Todd didn't escape Madonna's wrath, as she shouted, “This is the sound of Sarah Palin's husband's snowmobile when it won't start up in the wintertime," before creating some ear-piercing feedback on her electric guitar as she launched into hit single “Hung Up."

No stranger to controversy, Madonna has already raised eyebrows on her current world tour by projecting images of Barack Obama next to Mahatma Gandhi, while juxtaposing John McCain with Adolf Hitler.

No prizes for guessing who she'll be voting for next month.

  5. Madonna leads fans through intense workout

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - The Madonna concert ended nearly 12 hours ago, and this reviewer is still tired. And that's just from watching.

Of course, I'm not in quite as good shape as the 50-year-old Material Girl, who has metamorphosized into a lean, mean machine of muscle and sinew. That pumped-up toughness also is evident in her music as performed in this latest arena extravaganza, dubbed the Sticky and Sweet tour and promoting her recent CD "Hard Candy."

That album is generously highlighted in the course of the two-hour show, a good half of which is devoted to such cuts as "Candy Shop" (the opener, in which Madonna makes her entrance while seated on a throne), "Beat Goes On," "She's Not Me" and "4 Minutes."

She cherrypicks from her hits, forgoing most of her best-known tunes -- with the exception of such songs as "Borderline," "Into the Groove," "Ray of Light" and "Like a Prayer." Most of these are dramatically rearranged to give them a harder-rocking edge, with heavy doses of electric guitar and thumping bass beats. As with the performer herself, the sweetness in them seems to have been drained away.

There's a relentless drive to the proceedings that is almost unnerving. The headliner almost never stops moving, constantly whipping through intensely choreographed set pieces with her corps of backup dancers as if determined to burn off a certain number of calories per show. At one point, she even showed off her Double-Dutch jumping-rope skills.

She doesn't let the audience rest, either. Late in the show, she refused to begin one song until she had made sure that everyone in the massive arena was on their feet.

The one relatively quiet interlude was more bizarre than restorative. It featured an acoustic, Gypsy-flavored rendition of "La Isla Bonita," followed by the evening's sole ballad, "You Must Love Me," from the "Evita" soundtrack.

The singer showcased her physique in a series of revealing outfits, though they were mostly more redolent of the gym than the usual S&M garb.

Unlike her most recent go-around, there was little in the way of controversial material on display, with nary a crucifixion in sight. The one exception was the video montage accompanying "Get Stupid," which interpolated images of Barack Obama with figures like Nelson Mandela and John McCain with, among others, Hitler.

The Sticky and Sweet tour plays Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on November 6.

  6. I swear after each show someone says it's the best show ever...in most cases it's just the feeling of coming back from seeing Madonna and therefore people still feel overwelmed. Give it a few days to digest and I'm sure most people would be more realistic in how to compare this to previous tours

    And?

I'm sorry you couldn't attend the show.

    :chuckle:

    Awesome reviews guys!

Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour Rolls Into New York With Reworked Hits, Virtual Britney

Madonna may have toyed with dominance and submission on this year’s Hard Candy, but there was no question who was carrying the cane at the first New York City date on her Sticky & Sweet Tour last night (the trek’s second stop in the States). Emerging on a throne to the thumpy sound of “Candy Shop,” the 50-year-old singer kicked off a tightly choreographed two-hour set designed to accentuate her physical and musical strength and flexibility.

Skipping rope during a section evoking the 1980s New York where she began her career, Madonna pranced on the DJ’s table during a beefier “Into the Groove” as colorful Keith Haring figures spelled out the lyrics on giant video screens. With some chunky power chords, “Borderline” became a Cheap Trick-style power-pop song, “Vogue” was mashed up with the funky brass of “4 Minutes” and “La Isla Bonita” morphed into a Gogol Bordello-esque hoe-down featuring fiddle and accordion.

“You know who’s not invited to my party? Sarah fucking Palin” Madonna shouted after a montage of images that included Oprah and Bono urged “Get up – it’s time – your life – your choice.” As expected, she did permit another embattled mother to share her spotlight briefly: during a punchy “Human Nature,” Britney Spears paced a stalled elevator in a video. When the song reached its final refrain of “I’m not your bitch” Spears spoke: “It’s Britney, bitch!” and the crowd erupted. Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell also made virtual appearances.

The focus quickly returned to Madonna, of course, and her impossibly muscled body. Strutting down the set’s catwalk during a defiant “She’s Not Me,” tearing out guitar chords at the noisy conclusion of “Hung Up” or reinventing older hits like “Like a Prayer,” she made a solid argument for her continued durability as the Jumbotron showed off her sinewy arms and steely legs. (She rarely sounded winded, though she was singing live.) Unlike the Confessions tour, where her dancers and costumes stood out fantastically, Sticky & Sweet was all Madonna, all the time. It was her Candy Shop, after all, and when the lights came up after a spectacular clubland rendition of “Give It 2 Me,” “Holiday” came over the sound system, and fans danced their way to the exits.

  8. You were right too that she's had better crowd energy at past shows...especially the 2 shows i saw of Confessions last time. It was pure electricity at those shows. Dont get me wrong, they were great last night, but its been better

I remember on RIT and the CT the crowds at the very first MSG show were (relatively) tamer and the crowds were much rowdier at the later MSG shows. I remember at the last few CT shows at MSG I would feel the floor shaking at times because the crowd was jumping and stomping on the ground so much. :wow:

Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour hits Madison Square Garden

    BY JO PIAZZA

    DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

When it comes to Her Madgesty, at least, there's no economic implosion.

Fans who hadn't secured tickets to Madonna's show at the Garden Monday night milled around outside offering top dollar to score last-minute seats.

"We are willing to pay $500 if the seats are good enough," said Ashley Love, 25, wearing a black lace "Desperately Seeking Susan" ensemble.

"I came up from Virginia, and it will be worth whatever we have to pay," Love said.

Michael Rosen, a 33-year-old Brooklyn dancer, won his floor seats in a bidding war.

"I went on Craigslist and paid $600 for this ticket," said Rosen, bedecked in a black boa. "I haven't missed a Madonna show in almost 20 years and I wasn't going to start now."

Cassandra Gardner, in bondage gear to replicate the cover of Madonna's "Hard Candy" album, spent $2,000 for her night. That included tickets, travel costs from Albany - and the Madonna tattoo on the back of the 23-year-old's neck.

"She is a goddess. She is my queen," Gardner gushed.

When the queen hit the stage around 9 p.m., she ruled over her people in a skimpy black leotard and carrying a riding crop, bringing them to their feet with her hit, "Candy Shop."

And the fans stood standing for the next 90 minutes through new songs and old hits like "Vogue," "Into the Groove" and a hard rocking "Borderline."

When some of her subjects sat, they were duly chastised.

"What are you people sitting down for? This isn't a Barbara Streisand show!" she shouted.

The singer also got political, showing images of Republican John McCain with those of war and of Democratic Barack Obama with those of peace.

"It was worth every penny," said a breathless Janine Smyth, 29, from Long Island of the $200 tickets she bought for herself and her sister.

Last night's show was the first of four sold-out nights in Madison Square Garden on Madonna's Sticky & Sweet world tour. She does it all again Tuesday, Friday and Sunday night.

For devotees, it really is the music that brings the people together. The scandals? Not so much. "I don't give a crap about all this gossip with Alex Rodriguez," said Lorraine Hands, 45, a teacher from Fairfield, Conn., who has tickets for tonight as well.

For Madonna, the adulation pays off big. She has already raked in $120 million from this, her seventh world tour.

  10. I always see her more than once! And I'm sure I will this time too. I usually don't get tickets till the last minute. I was looking today but there was like nothing really good released for the 1st NY show. Most VIPS want to be at that 1st show and because she's doing a couple less NY shows this time, I think there were less tickets to go around to VIPs and less leftover to dump on ticketmaster. Hopefully it's easier for the last 2 NY shows. If I don't see her in NY I'll try to see her in Philly and/or that dreadful A.C. casino next month. I'd go to Boston (which has had great tickets released) next week but I have to be here in NY on those days.
