This will be the first time I will not listen to leaks since EVITA, in other words, since the Internet boom.
-
Haven't heard the leaks yet. It leaked because the vinyls came out early?

The Philippines loves Madonna, especially when she surprised us by performing the most requested Madonna song on the karaoke, “Crazy For You!”
Yeah, i think we are the only ones who got Crazy For You in the RH tour. It's her biggest hit here that even the millennials know due to numerous local remakes. Of course, Like A Virgin is the next most recognizable song here.

MANILA - Kim Chiu and dance group G-Force joined forces in paying homage to the Queen of Pop, Madonna.
In a dance number on "ASAP Natin 'To" Sunday, Chiu led a show-stopping performance of Madonna's latest hit "Rise."
Madonna's hit songs such as "Like A Virgin," "Vogue," and "Like A Prayer," are known for their compelling messages and have topped global charts.
Madonna continues to make music and paint her legacy as one of the world's biggest artists.

Wow! I missed that. Thanks for tagging me. It's totally unexpected they'd feature I Rise. Good exposure for M to announce she's still making fresh music, millions watch ASAP.
Remember how CELEBRATION had massive exposure in ASAP? It's been played over and over in the background for months, the original version.

It will be interesting to observe Madame X's debut numbers. We theorized 4 years ago that Rebel Heart's low numbers were due to leaks. Now that there are no leaks, is it reasonable to expect a number higher than RH debut?

So, are we getting a fourth video from Madame X? We still haven't seen the video with drag queens right?

The use of the term rape as a metaphor is to describe the massive violation of oneself in a different context. Hence the definition of metaphor. Fuck these simpletons.
AGREE! The word 'rape' doesn't always pertain to intercourse.

This is an official edit sent to AC Radio I exported from AllAccess, sadly the quality isn't the best so it would be great if someone could provide lossless track from some promo CD if it exists
they bastardized the bridge... AWFUL...

Madonna's fanbase is stronger and bigger than Taylor Swift's fanbase. How many will pay 500 pounds to go see Swift? Can Taylor Swift sell out a stadium in Portugal or Columbia? America is not the center of the world. Taylor Swift is a local artist for the most part. This is not to say she does nott do well elsewhere but her power is more localized. Madonna's fanbase just happens to be grown ass folk who do not have the time or dedication to repeatedly do what needs to be done these days to get her to chart. After the few days of Medellin, I eased off. Maybe we don't care enough about the charts or we just do not have the time. For instance Me. I do not go to spotify until I come here and read this thread and think okay go do your bit.
Since the first week I have been listening to my own copies of IRise and Medellin and Crave. I bought it. Why do I have to go listen to it on some other platform? What did I buy it for? That's the mentality of most Madonna fans I think and fans of a certain age which is why the older artists do not chart as much even though they more often than not are making better music. Taylor Swifts ME charted on the hot 100 right? Medellin did not. I Rise did not. Make that make sense. We can't. It's the time we live in. So we just have to accept it and move on.
Hope the album has good physical sales. Stream that when it comes out and see what happens.
It is because MADONNA's team are so dumb when it comes to chart strategies. Either they are dumb or simply don't.
Can you imagine if Medellín was released as one song first and not part of any pre orders? It was able to reach #7 in the US for a time, and that is excluding purchases made through pre orders. We can only guess how many Madonna fans immediately pre ordered it and did not realize their purchase didn't count for the song for it is part of the pre order. Releasing it song by song first is a strategy that can give it a big boost for a Hot 100 placing.
Fans will buy the whole album anyway.

LMAO.
I guess this is also the reaction some in her team are having NOW.
Seriously, biggest missed opportunity in YEARS. Probably since she skipped touring ROL for doing The Next Best Thing.
Yeah. Honestly, i think they know the massive reach of this song contest since they exerted effort to perform there. It is the only international performance this era so far.
It all boils down to intention. Her team intended it to be dark and artsy, i think, plus political. It still served its purpose of announcing to casual viewers that she has a new album out, perfect for the rollout of a new tour.
They should have gone for a fun theme like the BBMAs for the Eurovision audience. The staging and theatrical performance was still amazing.

So only now have you realized that?
Oh puhleeez, the universe doesnt revolve around Eurovision. First time i have heard of it this year because of Madonna. All of us have better things in our lives going than keeping score of Eurovision ratings.
-
OMG! That audience is bigger than the Super Bowl. If they MEDELLIN there like in Billboard Awards, there could've been more positive reaction from casual viewers as it's a fun song.

I totally love the video...

You make great points here. When Madonna was asked about the charts though in an interview at the GLAD awards she did answer it still mattered to her. Of course it does she has always been A-list and putting the age argument and the record company change argument to one side, this stratedgy is already far stronger than her recent campaigns as there's been alot of her about that was my biggest issue with RH, who knew except the fans...
It's odd because it feels like her team are half way there with the campaign commercially but still remain 2 steps back.
If they really care about charts then they should learn the right strategy... Look at Made For Now, it charted because all efforts was concentrated on the first week... video, single (no pre orders), friday, voila a chart showing... If they secured the Billboard performance, they should have released everything within that week if they care about charts

Its nonsense her team or M don't care about the charts anymore.....I'm sure Madame X have superior songs to Medellin &a Crave but they were picked for a reason.
Because Medellin and Crave happen to be sounding single-worthy out of the four so far... and judging by the Dark Ballet preview at Eurovision, that's another definite album track... The reason why I made the conclusion they don't care about charts anymore is they have utter disregard for Billboard's chart cutoffs , no radio deals even for the first single (we know she'll get played if there's a radio deal), even the pre-order stuff for her album, which they did for RH too (most MADONNA fans would immediately pre-order the album not realizing that purchase will not count for the songs to chart, they haven't learned from that from RH. while it is understandable they want to promote the album, then why not schedule the pre-order option for the album after the rollout of chosen singles, say a week or two before release date? Fans will pre-order it regardless, at least the fans' purchase of the songs got counted for the charts)... those are just some of my observations why i say they don't care about charts anymore...

I think it was the voice plus a dreary version of LAP and a song no one knew.
but we've already had that LAP arrangement at the MET Gala... that's why i'm surprised some fans here are criticizing the arrangement...

Yeh it's very odd there is simply no good reason not to drop on a Friday and enjoy a full week of sales/streams.
MADONNA's team doesn't care about charts anymore, basing from what we've been seeing since MDNA... except for GMAYL, they did a radio deal for that, obviously for chart chances...

At that time nobody expected a great live voice from her but a good show and she delivered.
And the Eurovision is exactly that, a great spectacle with an intended message and she delivered. The intended message got lost in this too much focus on her voice by even some of her "fans". Please, we've all known MADONNA since the 80s, she's hit or miss in the vocal department especially in live shows, and even in some of her concerts... it's the MARIAH's the WHITNEYs, the ADELEs, the AGUILERAs and the bunch that gets vocal focus on performances... Why all of a sudden nitpicking on her voice?
-
It's quite disappointing how some "fans" here reacted to the Eurovision performance. Some even criticised the LAP arrangement, which was the same at the MET Gala a year ago, as if they've never heard of it already. The pitchy vocals? 1998 VMAs? Higherrrrrr at VH1? They are "fans" since when? MADONNA may not be like Adele vocally live, but as "fans" I'm surprised their tolerance is quite low.
The Dark Ballet was barely there to even complain about. They can't appreciate broadway-like theatrics, which could be a preview of the Madame X tour. Some "fans" say the crowd wasn't into it. Oh puhlease, the crowd was roaring, and most are busy holding phones video recording. I don't have any problem with her Eurovision performance. I'm glad she did a widely viewed show and delivered her message.

Wait, what? I just watched the interview on this page, why is there negative reactions from fans here? That's always been the MADONNA we knew since the 80s.
