  1. World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is taking punches over comments he made to a Philippines media outlet describing gay people as "worse than animals." "It's common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female," Pacquiao told TV5 in an interview. "If men mate with men and women mate with women they are worse than animals." The eight-time boxing champion and born-again Christian is running for a Senate seat in his native country.
  2. Nike terminates deal with boxing great

Nike has terminated its relationship with Manny Pacquiao after the six-weight world champion described homosexuals as "worse than animals".

The 37-year-old, who is running for a senate seat in his native Philippines, later apologised for his comments.

"We find Manny Pacquiao's comments abhorrent," said a Nike statement.

"Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community."

The sportswear company added: "We no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao."

Pacquiao's original remark was made in a television interview and he initially appeared unrepentant, writing on Instagram that he was "just telling the truth of what the Bible says".

However, he later wrote on Facebook he was "not condemning LGBT", while still voicing his opposition for gay marriage.

Pacquiao, whose last fight was a defeat by Floyd Mayweather in May, is due to fight American Timothy Bradley Jr in Las Vegas in April.

British world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury apologised in December for criticising homosexuality, as well as derogatory remarks he made about women.

But boxing promoter Frank Warren told BBC Radio 5 live that the sport did not have a problem with homophobia.

"No matter what walk of life you come from there are bigots," said Warren. "I don't think it's a problem for boxing. In Tyson Fury's case I hope it was something he said on the spur of the moment. He regrets it.

"You can't condemn all of sport because of people's stupid remarks. They are two boxers out of many thousands of boxers.

"Pacquiao's certainly lost any type of sponsorship. That's all finished. No-one's ever going to sponsor him again.

"The majority of the fans will be totally abhorred about what he said, but that is going be the test - how many people decide they want to watch him fight."

  3. Nike dumps Manny Pacquiao sponsorship over Filipino boxer's 'abhorrent' anti-gay comments

Nike has severed its long-time sponsorship deal with famed Filipino boxer and lawmaker Manny Pacquiao after the athlete sparked outrage with anti-gay comments.

The 37-year-old world champion, who is running in May elections for a seat in the Philippines' Senate, told a local broadcaster that gay people were "worse than animals."

"It's just common sense. Do you see any animals of the same sex mating?" Pacquiao, who already has a House of Representatives seat, said.

He subsequently posted an apology to YouTube, saying that he was sorry for hurt he had caused, but also reiterated his opposition to same-sex marriage, which is not permitted in the staunchly Roman Catholic country.

Nike, the world's largest apparel maker, cut ties with the boxer-turned-politician immediately.

"We find Manny Pacquiao's comments abhorrent," the company said in a statement.

Pacquiao had been with Nike for eight years, wearing shorts in the ring with the Nike swoosh.

Pacquiao's promoter-manager Bob Aram told CNBC that Nike did the right thing.

"Why would they want to offend the gay and lesbian community. They sell product to everyone," Aram said.

The legendary promoter said that while he did not agree with Pacquiao's comments, he understood where they came from. He explained that Pacquiao was a recent convert to evangelical Christianity.

"In the Philippines where he is running for senate, most of the people are against same-sex marriage," Aram said.

The list of athletes that Nike has cut ties with is small, but in recent years has grown.

The company most recently severed its relationships with running backs Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson, sprinter Oscar Pistorious and cyclist Lance Armstrong.

"Nike and other brands today recognize that they aren't just talking to the LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community but millenials and the next generation," said Bob Witeck, CEO of Witteck Communications, which consults on LGBT issues.

Witeck said Nike's actions could set a new standard under which athletes were judged.

"Nike is a brand trailblazer and I expect others to follow their actions," he added.

Pacquiao is scheduled to fight Tim Bradley on Apr. 9 as part of the World Welterweight Championship on pay-per-view.

Aram said several sponsors who were ready to finalize their deals for the upcoming fight had since informed him they were no longer interested in being associated with the Filipino boxer.

But he doesn't expect the furore to have any impact on the number of people who tune in for what is likely to be Pacquio's last fight.

"What he said is offensive to a lot of people and that is very unfortunate," Aram said. "On the other hand, that's his religious belief. He has the right to articulate it. If it hurts him, so be it."

  4. Was Eve made from Adam's penis? Biblical scholar from American Jewish University makes claim

    By Sean Martin

    December 31, 2015 13:27 GMT

A biblical scholar has claimed that rather than being made out of his rib, Eve was created using Adam's penis.

Professor Ziony Zevit of the American Jewish University claims that there has been a misunderstanding from the book of Genesis, and that it was Adam's 'baculum' penis bone that was used to create Eve, and that's why humans lack one. Primates such as gorillas and chimpanzees have a baculum.

Zevit explains that the Hebrew word 'tsela' which he claims has been confused with the word 'tzela' which appears in the Old Testament doesn't translate as 'rib', but rather refers to a limb that sticks out from the human body, such as a penis. "Of these appendages, the only one lacking a bone is the penis," he writes in his book, 'What really happened in the Garden of Eden?' of which a snippet was published in the Biblical Archaeological Review.

However, some scholars have argued with this, saying that 'tzela' means rib in post-Biblical Hebrew. Readers of the magazine were also less than amused. The Daily Mail reported that one reader known as Sue Glaze from Oakland, Maryland, wrote in to say: "I write to express my disappointment with your magazine. I wish to cancel my subscription.

"Come on now, Eve being created from Adam's penis bone, rather than his rib? That is plainly not a Bible teaching. I do not need and will not read articles that damage my faith or attempts to cause me to doubt what I know is the truth from the Bible."

  5. That's why some posters should stop writing false info regarding their supposedly adding new dates to their tour. If they release a new album late this year and tour it in 2017 it's a whole different project alltogether

Since these ppl wanted her to work like robot so badly, so I created the fake list to satisfy their needs.

But then again, dates such as Greenland, Madagascar, Malawi etc... ppl actually believe it's real?! :rotfl:

  8. It's just a youtube video.

M's legacy will not written off just because these kids don't recognize her song.

If you observe closely, those 80s songs that they were able to identify are either used in movie/TV/covered by someone else/or their parents are listening.

Like what I'd mentioned earlier, if it's Vogue, most of them will be able to identify as it appeared in Glee. Same goes to Pariah's AIWFCIY.
