So what are we hoping for as first week album sales in the UK? Do we think 50k + is achievable what with the great reviews, pre-orders and Graham Norton?
-
It’ll be recorded the night before it airs, at Television Centre.
This series is now fully booked though: https://www.sroaudiences.com/application.asp?show_id=1032

I remember the reactions of the people who were in the audience when they saw what was shown on tv.. they cut m's jokes and other great moments, but ok.
This is the case for all guests though. They have to trim the footage essentially in half. As a fan it can of course be annoying if bits you’ve seen in the recording don’t get aired. There is no malice involved though Purely what will make sense / be most appealing to the wider audience is what gets selected.
It would be very wise for her to do this show as it’s the highest rating chat show.

he may be a real big fan, but the editors of the show when she promoted w.e. clearly didn't have good intentions, that's all im saying. it was a big contrast to Jonathan ross. anyway, hearing he reaches a big audience in Australia as well, it could be a good thing if she's a great guest on the show (so they cant edit it to make her bitchy)
They don’t edit the show - they just hit record and roll for an hour and a half, and select the best sections to broadcast within the (50 minute?) slot. But they don’t splice up footage and reorder it to make things sound different.

Obviously she didn’t go round and introduce herself to / speak to anyone. Detached queen!

Lucky guy!! Did he tell you the aftermath?
No mention of that - just how thankful he was to be asked etc.
2 weeks in Her presence - imagine!!

OMG just found out one of my friends was one of the monks at Eurovision!! Insane! He was one of the ones closest to M on stage. Said they rehearsed with her for 2 weeks

I already tuned out the social media stuff but the fact it's still coming through other channels indicates how big it is. Not to mention the first ever incidence of my personal circle being (respectfully) critical.
Lovely post Jazzy
Anyway, a poster earlier who appears to be in the know indicated there are big things afoot for UK promo so we can look forward to that!
I guess things will get locked down soon. They did a listening party for TV people today.

Yeah she can do radio (NOT ZOE!) if she wants but we want to see her on TV obvs, and maybe even performing of course.
Discussions are underway for some great TV promo

As for Bastille bring above her, her album has been on pre-order for two weeks so holding up well.
True true. I think she will clinch it.

... but M has the standard version too so she’s probably above Bastille actually!

Actually, ignore me. I just re-read the article and it says she is 12,000 sales ahead of the nearest competition. It doesn't say how much she has sold so far but I guess we'll find out on Friday. Sorry! I thought that was weird.
Aha!
I just checked on Buzzjack and the Monday midweeks have her at just under 31k.

Can anyone explain to me how pre sales work. Like so they wait until release day to classed as sales?
Yes that’s my understanding. So if Madonna has 20,000 pre sales and then sells 7,000 on day 1 of release, the first day sales would come through as 27,000.
So by the Monday midweeks we will know how safe it’s looking as we will know what margin the pre sales have given her.

Thankfully the various soundtrack sales all seem to have died down a bit too! Only a few albums last year got to number 1 around the time of year because of The Greatest Showman, so phew.
12,000 sales for an artist as commercial as Pink is ridiculously low, but maybe that’s just how things are in 2019.

This sounds incredible!

How ofteb BBC radio 2 plays the record od the week?
I think A list means 25 plays, so record of the week should get more than that.
-
Coming over to the UK for 3 days to do Graham Norton, a Saturday night ents show, a radio 2 interview and a few magazine interviews would help a lot.
Then she can nip over to France, Germany and Italy to do similar there if she so desires. It would take less than 2 weeks to bash out some serious euro promo. Although maybe the thinking is that Eurovision will negate the need for that.

@Kim are you talking about CompareMyRadio? I just googled it but it goes to a dead page, so not sure if the website is even functioning anymore.

Cool thank you

Fingers crossed for number 1 debuts in most markets as per usual! Should be doable.

I'm in the car (in London) and have Gaydio on. They just played an official tour advert specifically for the Glasgow date only, not the other cities. Bit random!

The GN recording goes from 7 until about 8.45pm normally. So they could jump in a car and get from White City to Ally Pally by 10pm.
