So Madonna doesnt appeal to old nor young?
this actually sounds accurate when it comes to the general public and casual fans.

We built a cartel.. Is just the 3rd verse. Medellin is not constructed like a typical pop song, most of MX arent and finding bridges and pre-choruses is just.. tricky
yeah i expect a proper bridge to have a key change or at least be different melodically from the verses and choruses. i do think the "second chorus" could be viewed as a bridge, enough though it's repeated, which is something she's done before ("express yourself" comes to mind).

I Rise:
Freedom's what you choose to do with what's been done to you
No one can hurt you now unless you want them to
(Unless you want)
No one can hurt you now unless you love 'em too (B.S.)
Unless you love 'em tooi would consider the spoken part in "i don't search i find" to be the bridge.
like "medellin," that part in "i rise" is really a third verse. a proper bridge is one of the things that is noticeably missing from that song.

I’m so confused......what the hell is this all about??? Since when did M do an “appropriate” setlist? She never has and never will......you get what you’re given.....it’s Madonna.
super bowl? obviously a different audience but similar set length.

what is going on with US iTunes though, i am very surprised it is down to #12
she's still going to be #1 (supposedly). so my guess is that m's fanbase are very dedicated and bought the album on day one. it's now been out for several days. add to that, the digital album has been available for $5 on amazon (where it's #1 and #2 on the pop list). madonna's fans are also more likely to buy physical copies. digital sales are practically nothing these days. so itunes is just one small part of the picture.

And the Offer Nissim is very 2006 imho!
so it's "retro"!

I hope the video is longer than 6 minutes. I’m ready for an epic short film.
seems fitting but i think that approach might be hurting the view counts on the first three videos? the music needs to start right away.

I know we are not interested in the charts but...had this remix version been sent to radio stations upon first release of the single, I believe we would have seen a better chart placing for Medellin. It's the best remix of the song as its high energy, appropriate for the club or the gym and actually transforms the track into something else while retaining some of its original elements. The remixes sent to radio stations in the UK are so bland!
not crazy about this one. it's very 2016.

Given that enough time has passed, I think it would be amazing if she reunites with some of the original Blonde Ambition/TOD crew for her Vogue performance. If there's a time for burying the hatchet, World Pride would be it. And for a generation of gays, that movie and tour is absolutely seminal and is still groundbreaking today.
jose is featured in the current season of pose (which is very much about "vogue"), so that would be really cool if she brought a few of them out for that song.

On a side note....has anyone taken a look at Madonna's "avg career score" on Metacritic!?!?
This is why I absolutely CANNOT take any of this Metacritic shit but so seriously.
I'm not posting it here so anyone that cares can take the time to look themselves.
her average music score is 71. all of her albums are 70 or higher (which is considered positive) except american life (60, which is "mixed"). that's not bad given how many critics hate her. and it's especially good considering it doesn't include any 80s or 90s albums.

WHY does everyone freak out???
She teased this MONDAY.....it's only WEDNESDAY!!
For fuck sake.....why does EVERYTHING have to be some sort of conspiracy, changed plans or crisis of some sorts.
She teased the video TWO DAYS AGO.....it'll come #soon.
O.M.G.
MADONNA DIDN'T RELEASE HER VIDEO 3 MINUTES AFTER SHE TEASED IT!!! IT'S CANCELLED!!! IT'S A FLOP!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
exactly. as soon as i saw the teaser i thought "oh cool she'll probably release it next week, right in time for pride." that's extremely fast. why would she not try to drum up anticipation? we know she likes to tease things. i'm sure there will be a teaser to announce a premiere date/time soon.

the crave remix has a disco vibe to it. maybe she'll perform that version.

I made the mistake of saying to a coworker that I feel like Pitchfork targets Madonna, and now he is giving me all these examples of low scores they have given other bands. He insists they target everyone. But it seems different.
they are notorious for being harsh. however, their disdain for madonna is in a category of its own. the fact that stephen thomas erlewine (who's not m's biggest fan but has been very fair to her over the years) writes for them too but this review was given to rich tells you all you need to know.

The most revealing part to me, is the complete lack of correct grammar and obvious absence of proofreading. Only lazy biased reviewers don't write correctly. Utter ignorance, just like their content:
"And look: Madonna’s always gonna Madonna."
Where the fuck is the motherfucking verb there between the lazy ass gonna and Madonna, huh? If someone is clearly incapable of writing properly in a professional capacity (as if in this case) and proofread what they write before publishing, then they should not even be given a space to mutter their mental diarrhea.
i'm loath to defend him, especially because the substance of that sentence is inane, but it's a play on "haters gonna hate." at least he didn't write "madonna's always gon' madonna."

Am I having a nightmare here? since when has American Life ever been a song worth calling a classic? If political statements are her goal here, God Control would like a word.
shes just being a big stubborn baby boomer. They hate losing control of the narrative so they double down on reckless decisions. She’s infuriating. Whatever I’ll stop before I get banned
deep breath. let's she what she does before going off the deep end.
-
i'm all for madonna doing whatever the fuck she wants. that's why we love madame x. pride is both a celebration and a political event, so i support her doing both, but these song choices are baffling if true. this isn't a madonna concert. she's a guest at this event. and half the people in the crowd won't even be fans.

God Control
Hung Up
I Don’t Search I Find
Vogue
give the gays what they want (Future does not suit this crowd at all)
this would be my setlist but i can see why she might steer clear of god control. let the video do its thing and focus on celebration for pride. i'm fine with "i rise" for that reason. splits the difference.

Thing is you only see fans creating a narrative about "the disco banger" being the lead single she wanted instead of other videos she did in Portugal before. It's rather funny.
which videos did she shoot before?

She's prob doing like a prayer into future just like euro vision, but it'll be more pride themed and gay rights heavy
why would she do that? as some sort of redemption? she needs to move on. vogue, i don't search i find, hung up, and i rise. the end. the gays are happy and you'll sell some more concert tickets.

Hate to ruin your theory but God Control was shot in March and at least a couple videos were shot beforehand. I know some of you seem to find comfort in thinking Madonna wanted to launch the album with a sparkly disco banger and someone else decided against it.
Truth is if she wanted to launch the album with God Control she would've. But that's not where she is at the moment. There's a reason why this album is full of songs closer to Medellin or Crave and God Control is the odd one sticking out.
And people thinking this will be some sort of Deeper and Deeper/ Hung Up throwback are in for a surprise.
i personally don't have any preference for "disco bangers," so you shouldn't really dismiss it as a theory concocted by a certain segment of fans. i could just as easily say that some fans seem to find comfort i thinking madonna doesn't have second thoughts or change her mind based on feedback she gets from her team. i think there's enough evidence to suggest that the plan was at least fluid. and if things did change, there's nothing wrong with that. it's all just speculation, right?
