Why would MTV do a big countdown and then have us watch a still image while we can listen to the song, and then tell us the video is coming next week! It DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! Song and video are released tomorrow simultaneously! But only on MTV, on Thursday it’ll probably be added on YouTube and other streaming services! Maybe Friday even

yeah i think it's probably a two-day exclusive and maybe they also have the exclusive pre-order/tracklisting/cover announcement? then the song/video on all platforms thursday at midnight.

That could make sense, provided that the song itself isn't released until the music video has premiered.

yeah i think that the most logical theory so far is that mtv has an exclusive of some kind, which is probably the music video and would explain why it's happening two days before the weekly cycle begins. then on friday (midnight across the world) the single will be officially released. that's my best guess right now.

Australia has the "maximum of 10 plays per 24-hour period" streaming rule for the charts, too.

I can't for the life of me understand why this single is being released on a Wednesday when the chart week runs from Friday to Thursday.  I know charts aren't everything, but since this is a thread specifically designed to boost her chances of charting highly, it's relevant to bring it up here.  Essentially, anything anyone does on Wednesday and Thursday is going to have minimal impact (since the single is unlikely to attract enough interest in less than 48 hours to have a massive impact anywhere).  It's what happens from Friday to Thursday that will make the most difference.

Stephen, thank you for spearheading this particular campaign! :tigger:

some have speculated that since friday is a holiday that they're trying to get maximum exposure before that (and apparently taylor is dropping her single so they don't want to wait for the following week). the only other thing i can think of is that they're confident that this will do well long-term and counting on momentum to carry it through the following week. maybe they're not as concerned with a big first week and more interested in peaking later? can't think of another reason. everything else seems to have been planned very carefully.

Christina Aguilera fans are so pressed right now on Twitter because her now irrelevant artist "invented" a character called "Madam X" during her Bionic Era.

    Poor them.

you mean bionic, where xtina paid tribute to "express yourself" in the first music video? they need to chill out.

Err...the last album she truly promoted in the US was American life and that was almost 20 years ago. Confessions she only did a few small interviews and didnt even perform Hung Up until grammys 2006 when it was already old. She performed Hung Up and Get Together all over Europe when it was released. Hard Candy she only did that NY gig, Celebration she only did that one Letterman interview that got more press for the pizza and she barely even mentioned her greatest hits, MDNA she did superbowl and dropped off the face of the earth and had to do last minute things with Fallon and UME. RH was gonna underperform no matter what she did because of the leaks so to say she shouldn't focus on the US is ridiculous. That's not to say pay attention to only the US and fuck Europe because that's not gonna help her either. I still firmly believe she can overcome ageism is both US and in Europe with a great song and hopefully this era will do just that. No leaks have occurred and everything has been a well guarded secret. Magic is in the air and we can all feel it.

she actually did a ton of press in the u.s. for hard candy. lots of radio interviews and promo. wb really did it right, at least for the first single. then they sort of crapped the bed.

Yes, but what I'm saying is Europe and Latin America continued to support her after Confessions while the United States kinda dumped her.

confessions did as well as it did in the u.s. because of word of mouth and because the album was great. and "4 minutes" was huge here. either of those things can happen again. but any artist who's 60 is going to have a hard time. hell, anyone over 40.

Could not care less about album being cohesive.  As long as the songs and music are fantastic,  that is the only issue for me.  Madonna always makes fantastic music.  Nobody worried about cohesive albums years back.  Never heard anyone bring it up for True Blue, Like a Prayer etc and other great albums from other artists.  In fact,  people wanted differences on albums and not for the songs to all sound too similar.  It seems to be such an issue in today's music world which is hilarious in a way because more people are not even buying albums or listening to albums in full.

those 80s albums sound pretty cohesive to me! she even managed to make bedtime stories sound somewhat cohesive. cohesion doesn't necessarily mean all of the music has to sound the same. it can be an overall "vibe." i have a feeling this one will make sense.

This argument could go in circles forever but to me she was pretty damn inspired during RH era. She recorded A LOT of songs.

Btw not saying she wasn't inspired in other eras, just saying, there were a lot of songs, she did a lot of promo and RH has some of the best work of her career. The song RH (in any incarnation) is pure Madonna, pretty much sums her up!

i hear you. but i was saying i don't think she's been this inspired by something so specific (in this case portugal) since ray of light (kabbalah/yoga). she was absolutely inspired on music, american life, confessions, rebel heart.

All reports about her Eurovision performance say that she will headline to Israel on May 14 for the final rehearsals and we know she will be in in US in early May to receive that GLAAD award so any event hold before that date could be possible for her to attend.

glaad is 5/4 in nyc, and the cast starts rehearsal for the 5/11 episode of snl on 5/6. fingers crossed.

true but part of the reason artists like michael jackson are so revered is because of these types of awards. it can only help.

Would be amazing but no chance for that to happen this year. Line-up for the final three shows:

May 4 Adam Sandler / Shawn Mendes
May 11 Emma Thompson / Unknown Musical Guest
May 18 Unknown Host (rumored to be Amy, Tina and/or Maya) / DJ Khaled

She can be the musical guest for the May 11th show (Mother's Day episode) but it seems rather unlikely.

why unlikely? it's interesting that the following week's guest is already announced but 5/11 isn't. i really hope it is her and her team doesn't want it made public until the single/album is announced.

    thank you

I hope the double single rumour is true so Europe gets the disco song, produced by mirwais, and the US the maluma (and? or?) anitta song.

    that's just plain mean!
