Feel strongly people have the right to hate hip hop and the negative messages the music has unapologetically promoted for decades. Think the hiphop communities have gotten much better, but it took a long time for them to give up tolerating anti homo messages.. Of course, NOT everyone n the genre is or has been homophobic. You have to judge people individually and not by any group identity. Also, just because rappers are mostly racial minorities it doesn't mean we have to walk on eggshells when calling out their ignorance and even hatred.

Madonna is going to receive a lot of hate and resentment for performing.
Activists are going to go crazy leading top to the event, including parts of the LGBT press. .
Just be prepared for the major backlash, and enjoy if you support her decision to perform.
I'm very looking forward to it! Hope she doesn't back down.

I'm pretty ok with the wait even though very excited to finally hear new music. This specific break between albums does feels longer to me than previous breaks The wait between HC and MDNA also felt long, but guess we had the the making of W.E. and celebration DVD and album.

Sucks very much for the people who can't leave this backwards society.
Recently met a bi guy who is trying to stay in the US and not return to Malaysia. He was telling me that he receives some prejudice for being an ethic and religious minority, and the majority islamic culture is extremely fucked up to homos.

This segment of society are usually very traditional and conservative, so this wasn't surprising at all. Future generations will hopefully be more open unless they reject modernity ad secularism.
Just don't like the idea of forcing diversity lessons that include tolerating religions but excluding sexual minorities that are statistically very small.
I have to undergo annoying and bureaucratic diversity training in my field, so I would be very pissed if they excluded sexual minorities over religious beliefs.

A blatant lack of respect, they would never do this to Cher, Streisand, Dolly Parton etc
It just felt weird in the article how they're comparing a twenty five year old woman to a sixty year old woman, especially in an industry that's extremely youth driven.

What a weird and annoying article, but will continue to see people accusing her of trying to stay "relevant" when she's working with younger, trendy artists.
Funny that so many of these same criticisms were also written about her during HC and MDNA.
