Madonna has always had something to say about pop culture and society at large. Whether it was overtly political (American Life) or an underlying message disguised as a banger (Vogue).

So this idea that she needs to stay away from “politics” is like wishing she would stay away from talking about sexuality.

We need her voice now more than we ever have. And given the nationalistic and xenophobic wave that has crashed upon the most of the Western Hemisphere, I’m interested to hear what she has to say

The fact that she’s putting drag queens in a music video to make a statement is beyond exciting and rather poignant. No one in pop music history has made bigger cultural statements than Madonna. Period.

Off-topic, but this recent interview with Nakhane shows how intelligent he is. Madonna and him must have had great conversations.

Nahkane's latest album is finally available on streaming platforms in Canada and it's really the best album I've listened to in long time. I really hope she collaborated with him.

I can’t with people’s fucking comments in this thread.

I love this fado direction of hers and I cannot wait to hear what Mirwais does with it.

I’m imagining the first 30 seconds of the album is a super classical, organic fado sound and then BAM mirwais takes you to a different universe :inlove:

You racist cunts writing this off as “National Geographic” are the same cunts who were like “EW” when you heard the first 3 seconds of the ABBA flutes in hung up. Always ruining the mood.

This is what I don't understand. How can an off the cuff remark OBVIOUSLY made in jest be taken so incredibly seriously?? That's what shocks me. That remark is totally in line with her sense of humor. She's caught shit for similar "off the cuff" remarks since then and each time they cause "outrage" I'm seriously shocked at how literal and incapable people are of putting things into perspective and context. She made a bad joke about "Molly" at a dance music festival FULL of HIGH AS FUCK people. Where's the outrage in that?? If anything it was her trying to "connect" with the audience more than anything....lol. I don't think anyone actually THERE took issue with it. It was all the online commentators with their lips pursed and 15 inch sticks shoved up their ass that were so "outraged". I'm sorry....but this kind of this just REALLY gets under my skin because it's just incredibly fucking stupid....not her comment but the reaction to it.

Exactly! He can pretend (prob while he's high af as well) that drugs don't play a big part in that world but we ALL know the truth when it comes to that.

As I said in another discussion, Madonna is probably the least well suited personality for this era free from humor and without second degree. Everything is so literal today because some people specialize in finding reasons to be offended and to play the victim, because that gives them their 30 seconds of glory on social media.

Sorry but your comment is completely out of the place and, frankly, offensive. Ageist and lack respect to people who really like the format. Which, by the way, has much more imagination and creativity than any other music show there (Grammy, MTV or Billboard awards).

Sorry if I offended you but will you seriously tell me that the target audience of Eurovision is 50 y.o. and less?

If your reading this and you feel you're being personally attacked by this ad, it's probably because you're guilty of the shitty things this ad is fighting against.

Do you think physical violence is just a "boy thing", and no big deal? Do you think talking over a female co-worker is professional? Cat calling attractive? Sexually harassing someone fun? If the answer is no, congratulations, the ad wasn't about you. Give yourself a pat on the back. Think any of the above is cool? Then, sad to say, you're mad for getting called out. Stop perpetuating ****ty male stereotypes rooted from 1940s BS that paints masculinity in three shades of grey.

To put this another way, if Gillette was to put out an ad that started with, "Are you a North Korean spy doing everything in your power to demolish the United States of America?", would you immediately think, "Hey...why are they attacking me?"

    This.

If you are a man and you are offended by this ad, it is clearly addressed to you.
