  1. Thank you @Raider of the lost Ark fir taking the time and explaining what I couldn't , not only because of language barrier. I'm very emotional about what happened around the fall of the wall, I remember it as a stressful time, I was merely a teenager in the early nineties with both parents suddenly struggling to survive... I have no fond memories of that time. The golddigging mentality, the sudden ruthlessness. I particularly remember the utter trash they shoved down our throats in the new opened Department stores, all the hideous stuff they couldn't sell in the west, ugly and cheap looking things. And the worst, people bought it. I remember feeling so ashamed for years. It all started to settle around '94 or '95 for me. That's when it began to feel normal.

On the contrary.  You can't erase 40 years of history that fast.  Of course there's still that feeling.  Of course there's nostalgia on both parts.  But to be fair things have gone smoother than expected!

Well the wall 'only' lasted 28 years, so we have just as much time together as there was with the Iron Curtain. And I'm not saying it couldn't have been worse but I'm a bit fed up with how they try to sell it as this huge success, when it isn't really. It's VERY telling that with each anniversary we get the story of the Fall of the Wall and everything that happened during the Cold War, over and over again,  but never any discussion about what actually happened and how things developed after Oktober 1990. As if our recent history hasn't anything to do with it.

    Horrible.

Funny that those terrorists are never stopped with arms by citizens?  Having the right to buy and wear arms won't help you at all if you're next.

Exactly. It's strange no one cares for the fact that guns never saved anyone in a situation like this. They don't protect, they don't provide safety or justice.

They kill and cause chaos. End of.

Sadly, this is common place now. I have been stunned at what so many "twenty something" people I have met don't know. Not just history, but in music, sport, film etc.  I emphasise that is not ALL of course but quite a lot I have talked to.  I have talked with young people in their late teens and twenties who don't know who Hitler was.  Even spoke to a teenager the other week who did not know who the current Australian Prime Minster was.

Which also leads to another theory.  Have also noticed that kids of 5 or 6 that friends and relatives bring to lunches etc, don't converse with others. Their parents get out their iPads straight away in restaurants and they are watching movies and YouTube instead. Throughout the entire meal. When spoken to, they often tell adults to either shush up so they can hear what is on the screen or don't even look away from what they are watching.  They basically don't hardly interact with anyone around them.  Their parents also give into every one of their demands and don't care if they don't talk or eat their meal. Teachers will have their work cut out trying to stimulate them to learn in school.

This generation has so much knowledge at their fingertips as well.  Many of course are interested and know a lot but many don't as they have not been taught history, politics etc in school.  It is not their fault that they have not been taught basic history and maths etc in school.

God, I know I sound old and grumpy but it is so noticeable.

Im starting to think it's because they have EVERYTHING at their fingertips, they don't care anymore. I remember when I was a kid and went to the library (lol) and found a couple of books that were intriguing, history of architecture or arts or movies, these sorts of things. I knew we had no books like these at home so this would be a chance to get to know something new. And I also thought I was about to discover something that no one of my classmates would know, it would give me a certain advantage, make me special in a way. Maybe kids don't feel like this anymore, because everyone can eat up everything at any time. It's become so arbitrary.

Exactly.  They don't care how Saudi Arabia treat women because they do big business with them. Yet they pick on other Muslim countries who treat women and their citizens with much more freedom and respect. The hypocrisy is dreadful.

I dont know of its hypocrisy or suppressed jealousy. I believe there are a lot of people in power who secretly and recently more openly admire those old patriarch and fundamental societies.

I think it's appalling that the press is saying Merkel was punished for how she handled the refugees crises. I mean that's obviously the truth but to put her down for it is sad. I don't need Angela Merkel to tell me to welcome refugees.. I would just expect my country to do it. Whether it was bad handled or not should be part of the discussion but NOT the discussion. Fact she opened the doors to millions of people running from war torn countries is inspirational. Shouldn't Russia and the US have them after all? Aren't they keep bombing Syria to this day? I fear for the state of this world seeing so much blindness.

I agree. Especially when there is a LOT of other stuff you can criticize her for.

What is your problem with FDP?

They put market rights above social justice and the dignity of ALL individuals, they don't care for the ones who don't fit into their 'work ethic' narrative, which has become completely laughable in modern times. They are 'radical liberals' and I'm not here for their 80s mentality, now even shallower with tablets. They're delusional at best, or completely ignorant and ruthless at worst.

Über, AirBnb ... f*ck the sharing economy. The biggest fraud there ever was. And it is the perfect example how all those socially conscious people throw their values over board when they can save a few pennies. The negative impact on society these business models have is huge. From my perspective every government of a country or a city has the obligation to forbid these services. They can only operate under the same rules and regulations as the traditional businesses they compete with. The problem? These business models hardly ever work under fair market conditions.

Just another, even more transparent ugly face of capitalism in the digital era. You're spot on about those social justice warriors and their misogyny.

    It really would appear so

Especially when you take into account Christianity's actual pagan origins poorly disguised in the V century by the Council of Nicea and how many elements contained in the New Testament are nothing but recycled subject material from "pre Jesus" time mystery schools. From Babylon to Egypt to Ancient Greece right down to Rome. And in those pagan cults child abuse and human sacrifice were integral aspects of their practices

No wonder they installed the celibacy, they've never been interested in f*cking grown up females anyway.

Sorry for being so vulgar, but this makes me extremely mad and furious.

Well done Germany !  Shocked at Angela Merkel voting against it though.

What do you all think, that she is some kind of saint or something? Now and then she shows her true colors. I still don't like her. Kudos though for pushing the Gay Marriage vote and for welcoming refugees back in 2015.

    They can.  But they won't.

About the caddlin.... No building can burn like that because of a fridge with legal materials.  It's impossible.  Small fires happen in tall buildings every day in the world.

    They are lying.

Yes that's suspicious. The fire in that kitchen and flat must have been intense to inflame the cladding of the building. How fast did it spread? When got it noticed? I seriously don't understand what happened there.

just now?...you mean, with as much pervert shyt going on in clubs etc, they haven't ruled same sex marriage as of yet?

    Das shitten!

We already have the Lebenspartnerschaft with almost all benefits you get from being married. But one big difference is you're not allowed to adopt children. I don't know if this changes wgen we get the same sex marriage.
