  1. ^ Not if she chips in, too, and rents a helicopter with us! We'll get her there on time.

PS there's no way she's staying in Philly. She'll fly in from NY

    Sounds good to me!

Also, I hope the tour busses and everything get in ok.

  2. Found this article outlining the 'Security Zone' Only the Ben Franklin Bridge is being closed. Stick to 76 or 95, and you should be good. I'd tack on extra travel time though.

thanks for posting the article. I mean, they have to realize that there are events going on so hopefully it won't be too much of an issue. I definitley will be getting there early.

  3. They are creating a "box" over the city, and schools are closed beginning Wed. Who does the pope think he is? Madonna, or something!

    I know, right?!

Schools are closed on Wednesday? wow! I'm going to have anxiety over this until i'm pulling into the parking lot at the Wells Fargo Center!

  4. There shouldn't be any worries. The stadiums are in south philly, away from center city, I doubt there will be any road closures in that area. Are you taking Walt Whitman? That's prob your best bet as it's the closest to the arena.

Yeah, I'm taking the Walt Whitman - I always take that one for concerts. I'm about 10 minutes from the bridge (not even) and I plan on leaving right after work (around 5) - even if I do have to wait for hours before Madonna comes on, at least I'll be there!

  5. Is anyone else going to this show concerned about getting there with the whole Pope vist going on? So much talk about closed roads, bridges, and tons of people is stressing me about. I know he's not in the city until Saturday but the news is saying this stuff will be going on before Saturday. I was/am hoping that a concert on Thursday would still be ok. Ugh, I've waited so long for this show I hope I get there with no trouble. I live 15 minutes from the venue but I'm in NJ so I have to take one of the bridges to get there. I think the one I normally take will not be closing so that's good.

  6. So many great things about The Girlie Show....

What I like most about it, is that it's extremely theatrical - not that most of Madonna's tours aren't - but I think the theme of the show really brings out/showcases pure theatre. I miss the days when pop stars didn't rely on fancy video screens to replace actual props and dancers/actors. Large screens do NOT give the same effect that props do. Unfortunately, because technology has improved, most acts who set out to put on a Madonna-like show will use them as a substitute (M included).

Anyway, the band sounded amazing, Madonna's vocals were strong, and I loved the arrangements of the tracks.

Standouts for me were: "Justify My Love" - BRILLIANT rendition, "Deeper and Deeper", "Express Yourself", "Why's it so hard", "La Isla Bonita", "Holiday", "Everybody", "Fever", and "Vogue".

  7. Yeah Golden Triangle was great in AC - upper sections looked a little bored but I guess they always do. I had a good crowd for Sticky and Sweet too. I missed Confessions I was doing a summer semester abroad. It was a great experience but I feel like I missed out on M's best tour!

I was in the upper section for that MDNA show, and we did sit for most of it...but that's fine with me because it's hard to stand in the upper level. Confessions was great, yes, but I'd say MDNA was on par with it in my opinion.

  8. This is true - Borgata is sponsoring the show so they could end up giving out tickets. The only bad thing about that is you usually get a crowd that's not really into it they just went because it was free lol.

I went down to AC last month and when you drive in they have tons and tons of billboards for upcoming shows and concerts. And NONE for M. Made me mad - all summer tourists could have been seeing a billboard but nope.

I haven't been down to AC in a few months, but I agree there should be billboards for the show....especially now while the summer crowd is there. If Borgata is sponsoring it that's a good sign things will be ok - it's usually Caesers. Yes, the crowd might be less than amazing but out of the three times I've seen Madonna at Boardwalk Hall, believe it or not, the MDNA tour had the best crowd. Madonna pissed off the crowd on the CT with the no air conditioning on the hottest day of the summer, and I had miserable and annoying people in my section at S&S. Hopefully I'm surrounded by fans for this tour.

  9. It's not even close to being sold out the first night there are still even a lot of floor seats available. I'm actually afraid it may get cancelled.

Ugh don't even say it! I had the same bad feeling but I think the high rollers will be given seats so it should be ok. Plus, it's a Saturday night so hopefully word of mouth will help. I think once Philly gets good press I will also help.

  10. I think it would have been better if she didn't already use the throne/spin on the promo tour....it was been there done that by the time the tour started. Also, the entrance relieved heavily on screens, which I don't find as theatrical as actual props/people on stage setting the scene. To me, the MDNA entrance was a huge upgrade!

  11. I like the Re-Inventions, however, I think they work best when they are at least recognizable - there's a reason they were hits in the first place.

    Some of my favorite Re-Inventions:

    Like a Virgin - CT

    La Isla Bonita - CT

    Lucky Star - CT

    Into the Groove - S&S

Into the Groove - RIT (not really far from the original)

Music Inferno - CT - AMAZING

    BAD re-inventions

    Hung Up - S&S

    Borderline - S&S

    La Isla Bonita - S&S

    Human Nature - S&S

Clearly S&S is not my favorite tour....fun while there, but I don't look back on it much.

  12. I hate the idea of opening with Iconic... I'd open with "Best Night" as a soft opener/ possibly a video leading into a performance, the first few lines are golden and a perfect fit for opening a show...

"You call me M tonight!" ... "I'll make this the best night of your life..."

and then seque into another song, possibly a classic...

Completely Agree! "Best Night" needs to open the show!
